No way they will finish with the spoon next year. Steph, Douehi, Blore, Simpkins, Simpkin, Laurie, Hastings, Seyfarth all a year better. Brooks given the arse. These young guys buy into Madge, it is the other deadheads Nofo, Brooks, Packer, Leilua who are guaranteed losers never have achieved anything who are the issue.

Douiehi and Laurie will have question marks around them as to how they come back from their significant injuries. Especially AD.
Couldn't care less if we get the wooden spoon next year as long as some change is implemented to get some fortitude into the club for the future.

The funny thing I have been reading how the WTs keep sacking coaches as remedy for underperforming players and keep players such as Brooks and Noffa because their juniors and it stands out clearly that the club makes the same mistakes over and over and never learn...
so what really makes me laugh this time is sack Madge and recruit a coach capable of getting this team playing finals...and re-employing a sacked coach who had court action against the club to become involved in the club again...
And you guys reckon sacking Madge and not looking at the people who are in charge of employing various personell get a free pass.....

He's as good as gone TT, let's focus now on the future of this magnificent club.

So you agree that Lee and Pasco have no fault as to where this club is at...you dont want Madge, but dont let that cloud your judgement that the higher ups also bare responsabilty for poor seasons...

Don't put words in my mouth, i've never defended Pascoe or Lee and would be quite happy for them both to be given the arse. But you can't do everything at once. Getting rid of Madge (and his assistants) immediately is the most important thing for the club at the moment so we can prepare for the preseason. I'm hoping it's announced in the next day or two so we can move on from his dumpster fire of a tenure.

You're like a dog on a bone with the madge sacking.

Chammas toast

Yep, i've been wanting it for ages so i'm glad we're finally there. It's been a terrible season, looking forward to having a good coach at the helm for 2022.

And, I look forward to you supporting someone else if he's retained and others are held to account.

That is a pretty low comment.

Do you think so? I'm shocked coming from you. But, hey, I'm sure you can make it disappear as you threatened to do recently.

I don't know what you are talking about in regards to making it disappear, but I don't think you should be telling people to support a different team because they disagree with you.

Absolutely, Daine Laurie didn't even get a preseason last year and still killed it in his first real year at NRL, Stef, Simpkin and Simpkins are just kids who should be a lot better next year.

I'm finding there is a real cult like loyalty to Madge that brings out the worst in people whenever he is criticised for anything. You're a prime example.

Yes, the cult of "intelligence and fairness". But, you can stick to your cult of "media driven knee-jerk ignorance".

In what world is suffering through three years of incompetent coaching knee jerk? He's done a poor job and he'll be moved on. Hopefully this week.

To my knowledge @cochise, there has been no outcome of the review yet. @avocadoontoast has called it already - decision made, Maguire sacked, @avocadoontoast is happy.

In the spirit of offering good advice, I'm saying that he/she should follow some other club if his declaration proves to be wrong. That's all.

Perhaps you should think before posting in future.

Hopefully the new coach gives our halfback a fatherly chat about 5th tackle options, short balls at the line to second rowers and his kicking game. It's all been garbage for years.

If Blore doesn't give Brooks a pair of Irish sunglasses over Mad Monday for his efforts on the weekend I'll be surprised.

Or he could just use him as Cleary did.

And get us to ninth again. It would be an absolute disaster if madge is gone and brooks is still here. The ONE common denominator in our last decade of not playing finals football is brooks. If that’s not enough to get rid of him then I give up on this club.

If Brooks is an agitator I agree - for his sake but mostly for ours.

I'd take 9th now and the way we played then. The end to this season has been so comprehensive, it is a defeat in detail not just a defeat. A thrashing by the wooden spoon team with our players looking broken and dispirited. There is no coming back from this for Maguire.

As a fan of the club he is entitled to have an opinion on the club, just as you are. I think Madge should be sacked as well but will be here supporting the club should he be coach moving forward.

I don't have an issue with those that want him retained, I don't agree with them, will debate with them but would never feel they are any less a supporter because they disagree with me.

In fact @avocadoontoast and I quite regularly disagree on what is best for the club. I however would never question his support or love of the club because he see things differently to myself.

That is why I didn't like your comment.

Thinking is a prerequisite for membershiop to my cult. It seems to be optional for yours.

When you get personal, you've lost the debate. You can't debate the topic, so you've played the man (and not the first time you've done that today). All that does is further weaken your argument (which wasn't very strong to begin with).

Madge has been fighting an uphill battle that every other coach has failed to fix year on year. I honestly believe that if someone with the mentality of Madge can’t fix us, no one can. He gives every ounce of energy he has to trying to make us better.

I honestly believe he needs some better assistants around him.

I wish the club would invest as much ammo into this area as it possibly can. Sheens will help tremendously, but we need the best defensive coaches, attacking coaches, kicking coaches to get involved and help Madge. That’s the big key in my opinion. I think he takes too much on on his own and needs to share the load more.

We need players who want to win at all costs. Look at Melbourne, look at Penrith. They’re teams that hate losing one game a season. I think by finding the best of the best assistants (whether they’re precious NRL coaches or not) with the same work ethic and vision as Madge is what’s needed to turn our fortunes around.

Maybe the mentality is too much.

It might be for loser players. Is Bellamy too tough for the Storm?

You know Bellamy isn't like that 24/7 right? He develops better relationships with his players.

How do you know he develops better relationships? Bellamy is an intense dude when it comes to switching on, as is Madge. It’s part of the job. Madge is a decent human and cares about his players as well. The difference is Bellamy has players around him who want to be the best and compete every week. We have a bunch of kids who point the finger at each other. Madge is trying to turn these boys into men but half of them seem too stupid to see it and buy in.

Tigers players for far too long have taken the mickey. They’re well-paid players and should be accountable. People need to stop blaming the coach, the coach doesn’t let in 38 points against the wooden spooners. It was abysmal, no effort and pathetic.

Madge isn’t without fault, but he means well and I believe is doing the best he can with a mess that was left to him. He just needs to surround himself with some better coaching support and recruit players who want to win, can follow a game plan and genuinely want to be successful.

Mess left for him? He's signed 28/30 players in our current squad. When will people wake up??

Ok our players are a bit lazy and not of the same calibre as storm players, but why hasn't madge been able to improve our defense at all, all season? A good coach uses what he has, adapts tactics to fit the players he has in the short term even with an eye on adjusting in the long term.

Madge and his assistants have either done nothing to change and improve our defense or what they've tried to change hasn't cut through to the players. The message or tactics aren't communicated in a manner for them to put it into place.

The fact our defensive system is apparently to stand still and jog backwards as attackers approach you, rather than have linespeed and cut down on the time and space available to attackers. If Madge wanted us to have linespeed why hasn't this translated into performance? If players are showing linespeed but then get fatigued as a result and then drop off, that's one thing, but right from eh first minute our defensive strategy is to stand still which suggests that this is actually, somehow, our plan.

After 3 years of gradually slipping performances

Moot point
Bellamy would have 3 years of improvement due to systems and processes that he would put in place.
Bellamy's players wouldn't be a confused rabble after 3 years.

Would Bellamy have done that much better being handicapped by the salary cap and overpaid useless players who don't want to put in? He most likely would have dropped those players at least but dropping Brooks, Mbye and Nofo only means you are replacing them with Madden, Cini, Hoffman etc who despite limited chances have shown that they aren't going to set the world on fire in first grade unfortunately. Madge has been hamstrung in a huge way during his tenure.

Hamstrung maybe but what reason is there for not getting the best out of players and getting the team to improve.
9th, 11th, 13th, is he hamstrung in that area to
