Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

It's a farce that this review has been allowed to become such a media spectacle, fuelled by people at the club repeatedly speaking to the media.

Heard the same optimism when Madge was linked to us. It’s going to end in tears whoever it is. If it’s Flanagan, when he fails it will be his fault.

7 Kyle Flannagan ?

The threads are going to be great.

Kyle played a lot of his junior footy at hooker like his father.

Your not suggesting he would be a better hooker than Liddle?

No. I believe there were unrealistic expectations placed upon him when he signed with the Roosters. I believe he has much to offer in the utility role. Also you get Kyle, his mate will most likely end up with him.

Who's that?

Bronson Xerri.

May as well rename the "Centre of Excellence" to the "Centre of Enhancements".

Admit it though, a centre pairing of Xerri and Scott would have most WTs' fans salivating. Perhaps the best centre pairing in the NRL.

Nah I think I'd prefer Burton and Crichton. I'd want to see how good Xerri is without the juice.

He's been training with Roger Fabri.
Saw the footage.

Looks as fast as ever and extremely shredded.
He looks very motivated for his return with some stories he's posted, specifically one with a screen shot of people calling him a roid user, etc with the caption "you'll all be wrong" or something along those lines.

He will he the best centre in the game in 2024.

Both Shire products, Xerri from Menai/Illawong and Scott from Bundeena. I'd like to see them back on the footy field.

How can they make a call when the most advnaced technogy they have in the room is carrier pigeon

Id like to request a new poll if Madge gets sacked. Cheers, boss man

Yep what will it be?

I won't believe that Madge is sacked until I see it in writing.

I could not care less if Maguire is replaced but if you think that will change Wests Tigers .. think again…

Very good financial position. tick
COE at Concord and Campbelltown tick tick
Great junior recruitment tick
Hartigan and Sheens onboard tick
New coach - hopefully sorted this week. tick

There are very positive changes happening.

Since you like quoting Gus so much I'll leave this here.

Gus has 100% interest in ensuring the Tigers remain a bad place. He did that at the Panthers before leaving and will do it at the Bulldogs. His primary job now is the Bulldogs. If we look good that impacts the Bulldogs.

As much as Gus wants success for the Dogs, I don't necessarily believe it is at the demise of Wests. He knows that what makes the game more successful is an even competition.

I think 2021 shows what happens when you have two speed competition in terms of interest and viewership.

Of course he is. Anyone who thinks there aren’t’ deeper issues at the club then who the coach is is an idiot.

Or on the board. Wouldn’t surprise me if they all post here ?

Thanks @weststigerman. That quote from Gould needs bumping!!!
What a few of us have been saying for a while, but when a legend of the game makes that statement it should carry some weight. And thank you Steve Hill!!

Gus also said you can't buy your way out of the bottom of the table, it will fail, yet Canterbury are trying to do it, why did he sign on to a place doomed to fail, Gus has agendas to suit Gus

I’m very interested to see how the Bulldogs go. On the surface they appear to have recruited well, and Gus included. We’ll see if he’s right about that?

Weak as. They take after the Board who set the example.

If Madge does get punted, do you think he will get a job elsewhere?

If no-one else would take him, should we keep him?

I'd be surprised if the review did not include discussions with player managers.

I would be horrified if they did speak to player managers. Its the player managers who dig a hole and throw the club in it,they only care about the themselves and getting a lucrative slice out of their clients (Players and Coaches).Player managers are a very large part of the problem and you want to get their advice.AMAZING

"Hey player managers do you guys think changing the head coach will help with future player recruitment for Tigers?"

"Definitely yes; in fact I have just the head coach candidate for you to turn everything around! And anyone who doesn't like the new guy, well I've got clients to replace them as well! I'll do you a package deal."

(a) because they are probably paying him a mint
(b) because many of the big-spend decisions were made before he got there, he can claim deniability if it all goes to pot

Lol swapping out weight plates for identical looking versions that are much lighter. "We're all so strong this year, lifting the heaviest we ever have".

A lot of HR businesses have a clause that states you don’t pay the commission if the applicant doesn’t stay or doesn’t work out. We can only dream Regarding NRL player and coaching contracts

That's why they say our club kills coaching careers. He may actually still be a good coach, and it may be that we're making him look much worse. So on evidence, yes possibly no other club would take him, despite him being good.

Sorry if not clear but not with us, another head coaching job elsewhere.

Being honest his NZ test results aren't exactly crash hot either.
