Maguire Signs Until End of 2023

I got no doubt of his coaching ability and other clubs would share that opinion so yeah, I'd lock him up. He's more important than any player we have.

Madge isn't going anywhere. The way he speaks in the media, I can tell he deeply cares for the club. He is committed, and there are many players who feel a special connection to him. Some of our players are entering career best form. I could see us having a huge roster of representative players in only 1-2 years. I think Aloiai is a smokie for origin, and Twal was on fire before his injury (Fittler has already publicly spoken about how much he loves Twal).

There's no rush. I bet the contract extension is already signed and they are simply waiting for the right time to announce it.

I don’t understand these comments with all due respect. Cleary wanted everyone on the bus. He was in it for the long haul too. Cleary should be a lesson to all of us to not assume we know someone’s character.

Josh Aloiai is a Kiwi.

It would be a smart move to extend him now it would let everyone know the direction the club is taking existing players and any other potential signings. We are playing as well as we have in the last 4 years under Madge theres not a lot of talent out there for clubs looking for a new coach we have a good one so we should secure him long term what better way to celebrate the COE than having a successful team to occupy it.

Yes, definitely offer extension now. I've said it before that WT need a huge dose of stability with coach- no more roster changes to suit style of new coach. maguire has shown enough positive changes to have earned it.

Maybe if the team could win 3 games on the trot and the finals are achieved ! Let’s not get caught up with a couple of wins some real success might be a prerequisite to an extension !

Well Madge is certainly a good coach but let's remember there are only 16 coaching positions in the NRL and what Clubs are going to part ways within this season. I think he also learned a lesson from Souths to be more engaging with his players to also quote the legendary Jack Gibson.

There is nothing in the contract that says a football coach has to be sane or a good loser.

To win a championship, you've got to have a nucleus of five or six real tough, hard competitors. To win anything, the team's got to think tough and that infiltrates into the individual. You've got to have a tough leader.

So prior to extending his contract as a supporter would like to see where we finish this year, if we make the 8 extend it again but no more than 3 years, would also like to see a stronger Captain on the field think both go hand in hand.

It’s great not being a part of the coaching drama and sitting back watching other clubs struggle. Pay already gone, Seibold on the out and sounds like Green is about to get sacked

Yep Green is now gone.

Unfortunately what's a contract worth? seen it too many times with both players and coaches. Giving hmi a 2 or 3 year contract extension now doesn't necessarily hold him for that period of time now does it?

So your saying let's shake hands and see what happens Madge appears to be a man of his word but a contract would keep the slimmers of the league at bay.

Nope I’m saying sign him now for a year or 10 years it doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day, as we know, and you know, a contract isn’t worth what’s it’s written on at the moment. If Maguire decides he wants to leave at some point he will, regardless of how long a contract he has, as many have done before.
My point is extend him now or at the end of his current contract, it doesn’t really matter - people acting like if we extend him now he will be locked in and won’t leave - he will if decides he wants to go contract or not.

If and when we make the finals then upgrade, not before.

And if we don't make the 8 can you provide a list of coaches that are available that could
