Manly won't even make the 8

I wouldnt go gloating just yet…manly have a history of biting us on the ass, and I am unsure if Te Maire Martin has a contract with us past this year. I really dont like where it looks like this is going, and I honestly dont see too many other options for them to be looking at.

Young Kane Elgey is said to be in their sights.

Remember contracts mean nothing in this day and age

They could try and pinch any player who is unhappy and that includes WT's players

radradra's first try when taikarangi did the in and away- i could never have imagined lyon being stood up like that. it just didnt seem like manly.

not to mention, their forward pack is not even half as formidable as it used to be.

but there is just something about them.. they'll still make the 8 i reckon.

Manly have been the team to beat for a decade. Can't see them just packing it in. They've still got quality players in Snake, Lyon, Foran (for the moment.) Plenty of talent in the backs that many would sign for less to play with and win a premiership.

I think we may see a few bigger teams miss out for a few years to be honest. If Manly lose both halves in the same year, plus losing Choc and Stewart, I think they're in trouble. They might get Hodkinson, Elgey, or snare Maloney, but they look like an absolute rabble off the field and it's showing on the field.

Another team who might start to struggle is the Storm. Hoffman is a big loss, but if one of the 'big 3' go down, who knows! They're not getting any younger either.

Souths look like they are carrying the form from last year. The Dogs have an awesome team from 1-17, as do the Roosters on paper.

I think the Cowboys can get close this year.

But I think teams like Penrith, Parra, Warriors and the Tigers are the teams that are actively building. Recruiting in key positions and building from youth. The problem is keeping them all. The NRL has to step in and reward clubs for bringing through juniors, it's ridiculous.

I believe a changing of the guard at the top of the ladder will be certainly occurring in the next two or three seasons that's for sure.

Rest assured the turds will be there in September, still it is always good to see them cop a flogging!

Manly will be cashed up and they don't mind raping other clubs juniors, so we better lock in our young guys now.
Arthurson said that if they lost DCE and Foran they should do the same to other clubs.

Cherry-Evans announced to his team mates after last night's match that he has signed with the Titans.

Always seems a bit premature to me, writing teams off after round one.

Or on the flip side talking teams up after one game.

Happens every year though. Reality is that it willl take until 6 rounds before the comp sorts its self out.

Already we have Manly and Brisbane not making the 8\. Souths inventing forwards and a shortage on Eels jersies at Peter Wynn.

this signing to a new club with the season only just starting has to stop, it's a joke

Yep , their defiantly has to be a transfer window of some sort .

The place is toxic. Stewart and watmough gone now two best players want out in dce and foran. Matai wanted out. Without the unity they won't make 8 especially if they start poorly ( eg 2.from 6) and start turning on each other. Toovey the new Ricky. Angry ant.

how is toovey the new ricky?

tooves is still a great coach in my book. he's made the 8 every year at manly, including a premiership.

ricky has turned solid clubs into rabbles and then left to do the same elsewhere except at the chooks where all the work was done for him.

Toovey inherited a world class team previously coached and assembled by hasler. For me the coach is the glue and this once superior outfitt has rapidly unstuck under Toovey.

Toovey inherited the world class team.

He didn't inherit world class management - remember that.

Manly have had issues for ages - even before Toovey was appointed - It's just the team has been winning which has kept everything covered up.

The second things got shaky, the rats deserted.

They survived when Des walked out. When Hodkinson left people thought it was the end of the world and they were going to finish with the spoon the following yr. They didn't, DCE emerged and they won the premiership. They have the whole yr to sort themselves out for 2016\. Jack Littlejohn will be one of their halves next yr and he's definitely no mug.

to early to write any team off manly looked bad but so did the broncos but they are both very professional clubs write them off at your peril . manly forwards were one out like they didn't know one and other. broncos forwards they lack a match winner all very ordinary but they have benny

They need some forwards quick. Last year they trotted out a back row of Stewart, Watmough and Horo, last night it was Mateo, Lui and Symonds. Big step down in my opinion. With Foran out for a while they're in big trouble. I think Toovey is about to get found out as a coach. His success has been largely built on what Des did, but now he's really on his own for the first time since he took over.
