Mark ONeill - new role at the Wests Tigers ..

Head of the match review committee sounds like a part time gig to me. Was it FT? What would they do for 40 hours a week?

In any case, fans will know that Buckets will always have the Tigers best interest in his heart, which may help with any unpopular decision he makes in the future. He's an intelligent and well spoken man and a welcome addition to our club's management team.

Waiting for the club to confirm though.

Yet again another job for the boys

Exactly what credentials does Buckets have for the role ??

Accountability thrown out the window again

Who would you have wanted? At least his heart will be in it and he won't leave at the first sign of a better opportunity.

I dont think jobs for the boys is unique to our club - seems there are ex players employed in various roles at most clubs. Its about selecting the right ones - that are passionate about the club and want to see it succeed. Consideing he gave up a position with the NRL to take it on I would assume that he wants to make a difference. Great appointment by the club and if the only negative you can find is that he is an ex WTs player - well what's wrong with that?

Only negatives I can find is he has no experience or credentials,
Unlike those on the board though, at least he knows something about football.
Not putting too much hope in this appointment but will be glad to be proved wrong.

In all fairness admit I didnt read the job description, however I also dont know if he has done additional study in management since retiring either. Knowing the game must be an essential criteria and he ticks that box, and he has a great affinity with the club. Maybe the club are not offering the type of wage that those with vast experience in management would be interested in. Seems to have earned the respect of those who have had dealings with him and we certainly need those sort of men in managerial roles at the club. Important role - hope he does well.

Well what credentials does Buckets have ??

Love the bloke , he played his guts out for the club

If he was the best candidate fine , but basing it in the fact he told the Tigers sign Ellis doesn't cut it

Hang on , I fit your bill , have run my own business , handle retention and recruitment , HR issues , am a good bloke like Buckets , love the club like Buckets ,and played every game like it was my last like Buckets and would quite happily move to Mexico for the right role

And I would keep the Forum posted on any goss ….....

I'm perfect for the role

And if it gets too hard I'll look for Wobbie's Wabbit Hole

We obviously can't afford anyone with a proven track record ?
you've got to start somewhere mate .

Looks like someone didn't sign Happy's flag that day either..

O'Neill is well respected in the Rugby League community..has served on the NRL match review committee since 2008 and turn down the head role to join us…

He has been employed in the position to manage the football department lets give the bloke a chance...before the naysayers drag him down...

I'm sure Buckets is well respected in the Rugby League community

I still doubt he was the best applicant , can just imagine the interview process

Brought in his DVD of the 2005 GF no doubt , a few hugs and cuddles later , hey presto

I didn't say that was the sole requirement, just that it's something he would have over the Grant Mayer type mercenaries who probably lobbed applications in :unamused:

Mexico's a great place if you go to the right areas too!

Look it works for everyone else , might land me a job

Just because your a great clubman , doesn't necessarily mean you will be a good administrator

And when you still have ties to certain people whether it players or administration, it just complicates everything and muddies the waters

So if an issue came up with Dene Halatau or Robbie or MacDonnell or any others pre 2005 links , can we trust that he can use perspective in making any decisions or will his "brotherhood" still rule his decisions ??
