And this year we are getting Taniela Tuiaki - A rep quality new signing if ever their was one

Thats a somewhat 'pretend' point of view imo….were' not getting him, we were without him last year and that viewpoint still leaves us one short if as i recall correctly they mentioned the ''one rep player per year'' was over a 3 year period?

I spoke to a workmate of mine last night at our work christmas party who is in the Eels heirachy, and she has said that the Eels haven't even spoken to Piggy Riddell.

Well he is a former local boy (Holy Cross), so of course he supports us!

Was one that slipped through the net really. I imagine he's signed to Balmain and will simply provide backup for Farah (during origin or injuries). Apart from Ridell, if we do have him, who's our backup hooker? Parata??

If he has a kid now maybe he wants them to grow up in the same neighbourhood he did, rather than in the UK…

At school Riddell was slow, overweight and never looked fit but somehow he managed to make it ahead of far more talented players at Holy Cross because he had/has that drive and determination to succeed.

Twelve years later he would be even slower and presumably still in the same shape but he does have that something.. whatever it is…that guarantees he would always being doing his best and that little bit of extra pressure on Farah wouldn't hurt.

*keeps getting flashbacks of "Moodie spotted at WT office" thread from the off-season heading into '04*

and likes to sit in the stands with the fans after a try he scored…............NICE!!

That was one of the funniest post try celebrations. It's always on the reel….

Not really a Holy Cross boy. He went there for like half a year to play Commonwealth Bank Cup. Not sure where he was before that, but im pretty sure he isnt really a Balmain junour

Riddel in the nine, Farah at 7? :bulb:

Just kidding!!

seee Watto

told ya mate…im warming to the pigmeister..

If it means the versatile Farah to 7 then DO IT!!!!!!

will wait until its confirmed.
if he does play in 2011 for wests-tigers, it would be great for him to kick the winning goal, beating the dragons at the scg , 50 year anniversary game.

Wouldnt mind seeing Piggy as a backup for Farah, I would only imagine he would be playing for the Balmain Tigers apart from that. He is actually a very close friend and ex flat mate of Lee Bennett (Balmain Captain for those who don't know) so could see that as being a factor.

He definitely isn't needed. The money should be spent upgrading a few contracts and saving our money to get Graham next year.

Plus, do we really want an ex-dragon?

In the 11 year history of the club we have only signed up around 6-7 former Steelers/Dragons players and in most circumstances they have given us very good value.
Riddell seems intent on staying in Australia so the club, if they do sign him will get him for a relative bargain, It's also to be remembered that in his days at the Steelers/Dragons he was a bit of a cult hero and we are a club that fosters a great community image.
If we do manage to sign him on a Second Tier contract he might prove to be of great value, we've needed not only a 1st string goal kicker but a 2nd string kicker for ages now, how many games did Benji fail with the boot when a 75% kicker would have won us the game.

I'd be waiting for even a miniscule amount of evidence that we may sign him before I worry about goalkicking stats…

4 pages discussing the signature of a bloke who hasn't played NRL for donkeys based on a post from someone who heard something from someone else... Has to be the offseason!!!

if signed he will be a back up only for Farah…. meaning more likley to play in the lower grade.. if Farah gets picked for NSW at least we will have an experienced Hooker in the back drop....

Not a bad move from the Tigers if True. Better to have a older but more experienced player of Riddell then a younger guy who prob wont suit the way the tigers play..

I would disagree there HT. Only if he was used instead of a back on the bench. He could play direct at dummy half, allow Farah to drift when he wants to play in the quasi halves role and provide a double punch at the ruck. People who saw the effectiveness of the Stu Flanagan and Lewis Brown combo for State Cup will know what I mean.

I do agree though that Farah will be robbed of selection again
