Mark Riddell poised for NRL return with Wests Tigers

Not a bad signing i suppose
I am a bit lukewarm about it but
You would think he would be our new utilitiy player so if that's the case where does Lui & Moltzen fit in the side
You would think one of them would miss out

Well Lui and Moltzen have never played hooker…

He isn't being considered as a top 17 player yet people. He's signing a 2nd tier contract with Balmain, which will allow him to play a few games of NRL if required. Of course if he's killing it for Balmain he may get a run off the bench. But basically he is a backup hooker, ie he will only play if Robbie is out!

I see hayne fitting in nicely at fullback ,inglis in the centres and eastwood and burgess doing well in at prop for us.oh wait there not signed either.

Now your thinking MM… If we buy all these players, play them for BRET & Magpies and never let them into NRL, we will have a far greater advantage over Souths, Parra & the Dogs this year!

Wests Tigers will win the Minor Premiership for sure :bulb:

I think he will be lucky to make the BRET Team!

2nd tier signing will be brilliant. I expect Humprey's is allowing Mark to spend a lot of time with his Mum over the year and will give him plenty of flexibility with the contract, which is probably why we can get him on 2nd tier.

I wouldn't have believed the story from the DT, but it sounds from Humphrey's quote that it's actually close to a done deal.

Great work by the board members who picked this up early.

This could be the answer to our bench woes:

14\. Fifita
15\. Gibbs
16\. Dwyer
17\. Riddell

Fulton could easily move from second row to cover the backs if needed.

IMO Riddell has probably taken a second tier contract because he believes we are probably a good chance of taking the premiership and if he has a part of that, it could work in his favour re: value in the market.

Still baffled as to why Parra didn't go after him.

PS: I notice the terrorgraph blog is already on fire with fans of other clubs (namely Souffs) calling foul at his signing… It doesn't quite parallel this Inglis saga, nor does it reek of the stench surrounding Burgess' contract.

yeah i like this bench too with the starting pack being
8\. Payton
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Ellis
12\. Fulton
13\. Heighington
i think wed have a good balance with these forwards

I think he is a great signing! He can kick goals and as the ability to regularly bust the line.

And Chris I hope it is 2 years - you mail is usually pretty close to the mark!

Masterstroke …....... well done to Tim and Stephen on the signing.

Folkes must be salivating at the thought of bringing him back into fitness !

Hats off to Benson. Nice to see some of these hot tips has an edge of to it. If he's fit and on a cheap rate then it is probably a decent signing.

Will be signing a 2 year deal pending his medical which will be conducted today

Thats more like it - I'd hate to groom him for another club to take him.

Growing on me the more I dont think about it

Well done Mr CEO

Are we all happy to see the squad for 2011 locked in.

I know I am happy as it is right now.

for 2012 - Id like to see James Graham signed up and that's it…

Of course they are. Anything to divert attention away from their creative accounting. Seriously you're pretty desperate to compare the signing on one of the game's most sort after players to a bloke who hasn't played NRL football for years and was more solid than superstar.

Happy as a Riddell in mud!
& happy as a Riddell in lots of mud if we get Graham for 2012!

Great signing!

As mentioned he can play backrow and hooker. Is very strong for his size and difficult to tackle.

Love the Piggy!

Anyone have a link to a video of when he celebrated his try in the grandstand???

Great signing for BRET and backup hooker for WT when Robbie is playing origin (which he will)!

Good to see we're spelling his name right now, too!

But remember, it's not "official" until it's on the WT website. Right, Cuzzo?

i dont think he is signing for Balmain ,a least i hope not- he should be on the bench for first grade. Waste of space in Bret. Excellent signing as a bench player, imagine the rotation we could have. I've got to say his goalkicking isnt as good as it was before, he missed some sitters for his english club a i saw it on tv but he still uses the salute. Great work Wests Tigers. Something fresh every year. I can see Riddell winning what I believe will be his first NRL premiership - correct me please if im wrong that one that he didnt get with st.george illawarra. Yes, this sounds like a great signing, hope he works out and is utilized by Sheens in the appropiate manner.

This bloke could work out to be a very good signing & cheap to boot, folkes will run some fat off him & he could be very handy off the bench.

I noticed that the heading was Mark Riddle when it was first opened - but took it as a play on words. Now that he has most likely signed, great to have it not a riddle any more!!
