Look here is an idea in regards to Taupau out of left field

I can't speak for all , but many of us seem to be questioning whether Taupau is worth 650 K under the new rules

If we keep him for the start of 2016 and see how he copes

If he is good we have 13 rounds to try and change his mind with an offer and gazump Manly

If he is not good we can release him prior to June 1 and try and get a trade from Manly

Thoughts ??

BIG HARRY T. has gone very quite, made a huge noise some weeks back but as today not another word, i doubt he will be helping the club at all. with the wealth he has $1,000,000 per year in TPA would not put a dent in his small change, but as to date we have not heard of 1cent from him.

I don't think anyone can blame him if his been put off helping us out :frowning: .

When was the last time we had a Positive story at our Club ? Tedesco changing his mind and staying with us is the last one i can think off. :unamused:

the truth is somewhere in the middle of the mess that is the joint venture.
Harry is Balmain through and through.

i would go out on a limb and say that all went quiet in anticipation of the balmain development proposal.
the fact that it has been rejected is odd being that harry has some pull in those worlds.
could he know something that some jurnos have been discussing since the farah / taylor dramas….
that is ... the joint venture is on borrowed time and
the west will actually mean the west "coast of australia"

i dont believe the joint venture has worked at all but WA is not the answer.
and then theres the cashola that the tigers need to come up with by march (?) orrrrrr its D day as the maggies honchos are ready to swoop....? ? ?

Well for a start you need to keep up with the rules….Round 13 no longer exists.....A player now has a 10 day cooling off period once he has signed a contract to back out...that's it,,,

Secondly everyone knows how much I love Taupau BUT the reported 700K a season Manly are offering is way overs ...if he can get that coin good luck to him I say...look after your family..strike while the Iron is hot,,,

You can't really stand in his way...

I do all the ironing in my house….ladies blouses are my specialty the trick is to turn the iron down and start at the pleats....

Were you asleep during the DCE backflip saga...the rule was changed within a week of the backflip so that fiasco could not happen again,,,,

This club is amateur as anything. Rumours came out about Soward leaving Penrith - next day there was at least an article from Gus explaining the exact situation and squashing the rumours.

The club needs to come out, sort out this Farah fiasco for good, sort out this Taupau situation quick smart and move on.

We have a loaded man in Harry T, he's not a sponsor anymore, he loves the club - the Tigers need to get in his ear and work out a deal to restore this club to its glory days. He gets to leave a legacy. He's our go to guy. Can I keep dreaming.

Basic principle is you don't want to keep a player who doesn't want to be there. Let him go and plan ahead.

Well if Harry were to cough up $1m a season in TP deals it cant be advertised in any way so chances are you will never hear anything either way.

If Marty is to be granted a release (and I don't think he should) the club has to use its contract leverage to screw the best deal possible out of Manly or wherever else he's supposed to be headed-player trades and the like-and not just wave him goodbye!

A 31 year old Matt Ballin who's going to be taking another 6-9 months to come back from a serious knee injury? Pass…

They may try to give us Mateo, but i don't think we'd need or want him.

The other thing is the player they trade has to be willing to come to us. Or if there's no trade we have to already have another player of similar quality to Marty sealed and delivered and waiting to sign.

I say we put full faith in Cherrington at #9 next year, so a big NO THANKS to Matt Ballin.

We need to force Manly's hand like Cronulla did to us when they got Gibbs and Fifita as a package deal. Tell Manly if they want Taupau they have to trade us Jake Trbojevic. I can't see him wanting to leave his brother though…we need to do better than Ballin though.

I hope the Tigers show some BACKBONE for a change and donot allow Taupau to play for any other team before 2017.

Taupau is contracted to the Tigers for 2016…....and he needs to fullfill that commitment. If he does not want to then he can sit the season out on the sidelines IMO.

I am sick and tired of these players coming and going free will whenever they want to, yet the club is forced to honor its commitments to players..... in recent years players such as Moltzen, Terry Hill, etc etc when they contributed virtually nothing to the club in their latter years. Even the Farah situation is a case of paying overs for a player getting into the twilight of his career.....handled poorly by the club acknowledged though.Yet we are forced to honor the contract.

This year we let Blair go to the Bronc's yet paid for most of his salary, let Austin go and previous year let Koro go.....all have had great form since leaving. How can a club make any progress when such stupid decisions are made. Austin alone would have contributed to 3 additional wins this year IMO & 26 points would have made a respectable year.

Theres probably little doubt that if Farah goes we will probably pay at least half his salary for the next 2 years. No-one does the Tigers any favors.....we shouldn't do anybody any either.

Its time to draw a line in the sand if we are to get better as a club and I hope the WT's show some spine with the Taupau situation.

As a side issue I think players asking to leave mid contract, then the club should get some form of compensation from the club he is going to.......for example if Taupau goes to Manly in 2016...then Manly pay Tigers say $200K.....gives us an opportunity to strengthen our squad and helps our salary cap......just my 2 cents worth.
