Perhaps a master strategy at play here. Thinking longer term, perhaps it's a play for Toovey as coach. Toovey loves Ballin and might be enticed to take over from a sacked Taylor. Perhaps Ballin and Toovey as a coaching pair?
I don't really care. The season is over before its begun anyway. Farah has had too much power for far too long.
I wish he'd find a spot at the Broncos. Then I could turn my dislike of him to a whole lot more really quickly.

How is this supposed signing Robbie's fault?….Go figure 😕

It's not. Im just over him and his king pin mentality. Will be happy to see him out of the team.

Thanks for clarifying WD…. But the "King Pin" made me

:crazy Just to add to the craziness, I just read on one of the newspaper sites that we had also signed Willy Mason. No idea if this is true, but if it is, does anyone think Big Willy and Ballin might represent some kind of trade for Taupau?

Mason was off contract, Ballin has 2 years to go on his.

Most normal people trade in their 'old' for 'new', but in our case it's the other way around  Might get one bog average year from each of them before having to call the wreckers.

Imagine if there was a joint statement saying Ballin is signed and Farah is leaving. The forum would melt.

Not all the forum.
I will follow this club till I die or they do.

I support all our players - until they leave or until they put themselves above the club. I still support Farah but if the coach wants him gone or relegated, I'm fine by that, too.

You see funnily enough, I back our coach, too.

I feel the same way but I'm not going to be delusional and state that Taylor has been nothing short of terrible this year and I'd be extremely surprised if he improves next year.

I still feel that we can have a good year next year but we need some massive improvements from several players and we need a coach that gives us a decent game plan every game. We can't lose games because Taylor comes up with terrible game plans. Its hard enough to win with good game plans.

Farah knows he will get his money and stubborn as a mule. Wants to save face and appear as though he has won the battle.

The reality is he is not bigger than the team and is left with two choices

(1) Play third string hooker in NSW Cup, most likely miss Origin and be no chance of playing first grade again beyond 2016

(2) Get the same money at a new club, play Origin for the next two years and potentially extend beyond 2017 if he can/wants to

It's a no brainer. Farah will go in a "shock" last minute decision. Probably to the Dragons and play a shared role with Rein.

The sky is not falling. With reduced interchange I see the need for the two hooker role to take advantage of fatiguing forwards. Similar to the Cowboys Granville and Kostjasyn

This is probably true, and it's certainly what the board thinks. But it doesn't take into account that the club has given away all its leverage. Farah will go, but to a club that knows the Tigers are desperate to get rid and have no other options. The net result is that the Tigers will still be paying Farah $750,000 a year for the next two years.

I don't think so. There is a minimum amount that is taken into account for salary cap purposes for a player of Farah's experience. I would imagine that it would be at least 500 to 600k per year.

So Farah would cost us no more than the difference between this amount and his contract payment per year.

I might head down to the local bottle shop and grab a case.

If they agreed to take on the whole 950 k I would buy a bottle of Blue Label Johnny Walker

Marshall one of our greatest players left the club in similar controversy. He left a void which was very quickly taken up by talented young players. The same will happen if Farah leaves. The club will still survive and even prosper in future.

This is quite the story. JT has denied Ballin has been signed in two radio interviews but the media are reporting the signing. Now someone is telling porkies and I note Ballin has not been linked to any other club.

Taylor has denied Ballin has "signed a contract" in two radio interviews. Now he could be getting cute by playing on words but someone is telling porkies.

How long is Matt Ballin out for with his ACL injury? If he is going to miss the first 2-3 months of the season is it even worth signing him.

Manly were letting him go for a reason he is no longer anywhere near an elite NRL hooker, since we have two better hookers in the squad and a very promising u20 hooker the signing of Ballin would be a very poor decision by the club.

There might be more than one deal hanging on this decision. It may only occur if Farah takes up an offer elsewhere. If the roosters told similar porkies then they may have been coached by Wayne Bennett before he went to the dragons.

Is this more bashing? If it is, it's only obvious that he would deny it till it's official. What's he suppose to say "yes negotiations are on track"? This club denied that they were signing Adam Blair for nearly 6 months. Brett Morris held up a piece of paper to a camera when rumours were that he was off to the Dogs saying "as if I'd play for the Dogs. Dragons 4 lyf".

The excuses people will use to bash this man is incredible. Never seen anything like it, it's personal. It's only a game for gods sake. I'm convinced if he dropped dead there'd be at least a few people openly ecstatic about it. Get a sense of what really matters in life when you feel like you're starting to get petty about it.

Wow, well said.

I really believe that some of our so called fans have such hatred to Taylor that it would not matter if he signed both Hayne and Israel Falau, the hatred would continue.

Manly are keen to get rid of him because they signed a good young hooker from Penrith. I think Ballin is due back around round 1 or 2 next year.

Col - you are killing me. If we signed Hayne and Folau I would be stoked. The completely delusional support of JT is getting annoying.

So even if I believe you- Joel Luani has been let go so we need a new hooker in NSW cup or would you prefer they play with 12 ?
