Would everyone take a breath and STOP being so negative. Most of the posts on this subject are an insult to Matt Ballin - if we have indeed signed him. Cherrington is

Supposedly the management at the club SHOULD know what they are doing. I know he's injured, so one would wonder why we are signing an injured player, but there MUST be a problem around Farah that we don't know about, so leave all that speculation to those that purportedly do have the knowledge regarding this mess.

Now having said all that I was very sceptical about signing up for membership with this club this season, but for some reason I reckon I was the first person to resign, I am going to be positive about how things will pan out, and at least give all concerned a chance to prove that we can do well.

In the meantime if Matt Ballin does come to our club, I wish him all the best at Wests Tigers, and I would hope that you do the same..

i hate people who jump on other people for saying what they feel is right. no one on the forum is bagging ballin he is a fine player but we dont need him, we lost a power forward and signed a hooker how dumb is that. even if robbie goes give cherrington the spot with dene as his back up. we need some big fellows and all we get is crap.

I was just expressing that we should give Ballin a fair go. I agree that we don't need another hooker, and I too am appaled that Martin Taupau has left the club. BUT for some reason unbeknown to us he wanted to leave. :crazy I thought he only played well sometimes, so he may have had some issues with the coach or Robbie.
Mania Cherrington still has a fair way to go, but he will be good in the future, Dene is also a good backup. I feel sorry for the position that Farah is finding himself in too, but none of us know the true story about that situation.
So BP tiger let it be known that I am not jumping on anyone for having their say, and you don't hate me because you don't know me. 😕 Have a nice day

Just to confuse everybody Taylor has, in a media interview, denied that Balin has signed a contract with Wests Tigers. Maybe Pasoce signed Balin and Taylor is not yet aware of it?

Our club is ineptly run so I will not surprise me that we signed an injured over 30 year old hooker in Ballin when we have the current NSW hooker in Robbie and a young hooker in Cherrington that in my opinion with the speed he plays at is currently a far better hooker than Ballin and will be far better over the next two years.

We have so many other spots/positions of need that signing Matt Ballin is STUPID but I expect nothing less from the bunch of muppets that run our club!!!!!!!

:crazy Just to add to the craziness, I just read on one of the newspaper sites that we had also signed Willy Mason. No idea if this is true, but if it is, does anyone think Big Willy and Ballin might represent some kind of trade for Taupau?

More that I suspect we don't want it confirmed until Farah has gone.
I think it's a good move - he's a strong defender, and will be a good foil for Cherrington.

Being in exactly the same position with Manly, (contracted but not wanted) - possibly Ballin wont commit unless Farah goes. Manly still has to pay him, he is injured - like the rest of us he is probably waiting to see how this pans out.

If the end game of management is to move Farah on then the potential signing of Ballin makes sense. He's contracted to Manly for another 2 years & I imagine Manly would have to kick in for part of his contract (that's what happens when your market value goes down as a result of being unwanted by your club). We would get a 1st string hooker who has a good work ethic, a wealth of experience and a better attitude (as far as management is concerned) for a discount rate to offset some of the money being thrown away on Farah.

Plus if Farah does go then Cherrington is going to be helped by an experienced mentor in Ballin. While Dene would be a great mentor for him generally he is not a hooker first and foremost and we really should not be relying on him as part of our 1st choice hooking rotation.

Mason was off contract, Ballin has 2 years to go on his.

Ballin is a decent player, but if he is confirmed this spells curtains for Farah.

Farah is a fool if he thinks he's holding the cards.

The club were going to shaft him and pay most of his salary to do so, why does he think that they will not play him the year in state cup? Cherrington is the view to the future so he will be in the 17, and if Ballin comes here he isn't coming to play in state cup when he could do that at the club he's played his whole career at.

Despite what Daley says, he is not going to pick the NSW hooker from state cup irrespective of how well he is going because he quite simply will not be up to meeting the intensity of origin after playing against fringe first graders and reserve graders. He will also not finish his career in first grade with us and it's a very real possibility that he will not get another contract after this.

He will need to find a home elsewhere if he wants to continue his first grade and origin career.

It has been reported that he does not want to move to an out of Sydney club so that limits his chances no end.

Allegedly there's an offer from St. George on the table.

I've heard rumours that Mary McGregor is fairly keen on getting Farah to the Dragons but from memory, they already have a fairly decent 9 in Mitch Rein

Dragon supporters dont rate Rein as he has a poor passing technique and no kicking game.he does tackle ok.Most want Rein in reggies permanently

[shrugs] If Farah is definitely gone, and Manly are paying most of Ballin's wage in return for releasing Taupau, it's a good move. If Farah is staying, it's dumb.

Farah knows he will get his money and stubborn as a mule. Wants to save face and appear as though he has won the battle.

The reality is he is not bigger than the team and is left with two choices

(1) Play third string hooker in NSW Cup, most likely miss Origin and be no chance of playing first grade again beyond 2016

(2) Get the same money at a new club, play Origin for the next two years and potentially extend beyond 2017 if he can/wants to

It's a no brainer. Farah will go in a "shock" last minute decision. Probably to the Dragons and play a shared role with Rein.

The sky is not falling. With reduced interchange I see the need for the two hooker role to take advantage of fatiguing forwards. Similar to the Cowboys Granville and Kostjasyn

This is probably true, and it's certainly what the board thinks. But it doesn't take into account that the club has given away all its leverage. Farah will go, but to a club that knows the Tigers are desperate to get rid and have no other options. The net result is that the Tigers will still be paying Farah $750,000 a year for the next two years.

Perhaps a master strategy at play here. Thinking longer term, perhaps it's a play for Toovey as coach. Toovey loves Ballin and might be enticed to take over from a sacked Taylor. Perhaps Ballin and Toovey as a coaching pair?
I don't really care. The season is over before its begun anyway. Farah has had too much power for far too long.
I wish he'd find a spot at the Broncos. Then I could turn my dislike of him to a whole lot more really quickly.

How is this supposed signing Robbie's fault?….Go figure 😕

It's not. Im just over him and his king pin mentality. Will be happy to see him out of the team.

Imagine if there was a joint statement saying Ballin is signed and Farah is leaving. The forum would melt.
