Matt Ballin signs for two years - official

I think it's a great signing, what about SOO time Robbie gone for weeks and part timer Deano is not up to the standard needed to win games, Matty will bring experience and touffness.

Please spare me your attempt to justify what has turned into a farce. The Australian has reported Taylor giving Ballin the first week off training! Perhaps this sits well with your values but it doesn't with me.

Calm down Mrs. Farah, JT hasn't done anything that any other coach isn't guilty of. If coaches were sacked for misrepresenting facts and withholding information, none of them would have a job. Blair and Tuqiri were coming to the club for months and the club and coach emphatically denied anything had been signed. I'll bet you weren't calling for heads then.

I'm not the bloke's biggest fan myself, but your attempts to criminalise everything he does only shows that you have an agenda and it's beyond pathetic.

Perhaps this sits well with your values but it doesn't with me.

Get off the high horse. I suggest if it doesn't sit well with your values Mother Teresa you may be best suited not watching Rugby League because there's not one club who doesn't engage in these practices.

I think that Ballin has come highly subsidised and is an excellent signing IMO.

Ballin is considered the ultimate professional and a really good influence to all aspiring players on what it takes to be a successful NRL player.

It seems clear that Farah wont be hear next year, which disappoints me, and Ballin ushering in CHerrington seems like a good option to me.

The more articles you read the more disturbing this is becoming. Taylor is trying to get rid of Robbie one way or another, well keep digging your feet in Robbie as it appears Taylor is really driving a wedge within the playing group.

Actually it would be cheaper to punt and pay Taylor out than Robbie.

People in here hear what they want.

Only Manly fans saw Ballin tell Fox Sports he'd signed for 2 years?? If Ballin has told Fox Sports he's signed, then we'd have seen it. Don't be ridiculous. Manly fans are probably talking out of their bum like most on here are.

We buy speculation as fact when it supports our individual arguments.

Until the Tigers are ready to formally announce Ballin is signed, I expect every member of the organisation to tell the media he hasn't signed. They are under zero obligation to appease the Robbie Farah supporters in here with news of every signing prior to official statements, just like they are under zero obligation to tell Robbie Farah about it too- so before anyone shoots off about 'disrespect' to Farah by not announcing Ballin's signing, just remember that Farah is employed by the Tigers to go along with what they choose to do.

It's a bit of a laugh hearing the same people bang on about every perceived sleight that JT & the Tigers are giving them.

there is absolutely nothing 'embarrassing' about not announcing a potential signing before the club is ready, even if the media choose to run with a story that might turn out to be true.

What would be embarrassing is if JT got on the radio & said "yeah we are signing Ballin, yippee!" before the club had a press statement about it.

That would be unprofessional.

You know, that thing we are trying to rid the club of- the excess information leaks, the boys club mentality, the crazy contracts, the poor salary cap management etc…

So in the Martin Taupau release statement/interview by JT he casually announces that we've signed Dene Halatau for 2016 yet there has been no official statement given by the club. Why then does he need to deny the signing of Matt Ballin before an official statement is given by the club? Why does he need to lie in that situation?

I don't see any difference. If he's signed he's signed. Let's just wait until somebody gets a photo of Ballin at tigers training and publishes it in an arcticle and announce the signing that way. Would be much more professional

Matt Ballin is a good boy , he'll do as he is told and won't be rebellious like Farah …

On the flip side what a garbage signing ..30+ years old and coming off a knee reco ...
Surely were not that much of a basket case are we ???

I just saw a vid with Taylor saying that we are in talks with Ballin and the deal is nearly done!

Madness!

And the other thing with Ballin's ACL injury that the WT's can probably hold off on actually "announcing " his signing for a while and let the storm clouds brewing subside

Then again no doubt Mr Leak will probably raise his ugly head before the WT's want it to happen

And there can be no doubts where the leaks are coming from anymore

Let Manly pay for the rehab…

Who is Mr Leak..what position does he hold...never heard of him...

Sorry abbreviated his name Mr Sorry I -Leak -Ah- Story

Think he is French Canadian , can't trust him

I'm confused about why it matters when Tigers announce if Ballin is or is not signed. As Chadman and others have said, the timing of the announcement is our own, not to be dictated by the media.

If JT says Ballin hasn't signed, who cares, even if he signs tomorrow. It's the offseason, it's not like it makes any difference to the lineup next week.

I don't even care if JT says "no we haven't" on Friday and then "yes we have" on Saturday. What difference does it make? What we can say for sure is that any announcement on Ballin gives another stoke to the coals of the Robbie Farah story, and it is understandable that our entire organisation would be trying to avoid that as much as possible.

It's the same situation where Marty Taupau denied point-blank having signed elsewhere for 2016, or even trying to sign elsewhere for next year, then his executed contract gets emailed around the media traps.

real good question at the 5 minute mark

"Was the decision to move Robbie on worth all of what's happened in the media?"

Interestingly enough, Taylor's answer was reiterating something he mentioned earlier….......Robbie staying on for the season. Maybe they've worked something out and he'll be going to England for 2017?

Hopefully this won't be dragged out in the media too much longer, it's not doing either side of the argument any good really.

Yeah got that.

Did you watch and listen to JT's hard hitting interview this morning?

I know now we "are in talks" with Ballin because we lack depth in the hooker position. But the irony of JT being happy to let Farah go even though we lack said depth in the position seemed to be lost on him.

The other important issue was that the flies were attracted to Taylor.

_Why hasn't it been announced?_ Duh, Robbie. Trying to sort things out there a bit first. Would be unprofessional for the club to publicly confirm anything just yet and cause another storm in the media and with disgruntled fans without any further progress on that situation. It may come to that, but they'll try and avoid it for now anyway.

If he has signed we not only of course won't be paying Taupau anything, but it's highly probable we won't be paying Ballin anything next season either.

_Why 2 years?_ Ballin probably wanted a little more job security than to sign with a troubled club, with a star young hooker for only one year, especially when he's coming back from injury. We'd be paying some-all of his salary for the second season for sure.

_Ballin given time off training?_ Well he's injured so can't train anyway… But yes he could show up and start socaialsing with the players.

_Why sign Ballin given we have a great young prospect (and possibly Robbie)?_ He's a consummate professional. Something our club lacks. Whether he plays or not he'll train the house down, do media/community stuff and generally be totally professional and an excellent role model for our juniors.

And really signing a player who's known for their professionalism, in place of your existing captain certainly suggests he may not be the role model some may have thought he was.

No I missed the interview Robbie, but I hazard a guess that you caught it and you were shocked and appalled at his conduct and wish for a summary execution to take place immediately for what can only be construed as innocuous behaviour for an NRL coach.
