Boys club was evident when Benji had a cry about Heighington being moved on because he organised team lunches. That was beyond embarrassing as a supporter of this club to read about that.
Its all about results on the field CB if we start judging how they spend there private time as well as their performance on the field well you may as well not sign anyone. Compared to some of the things rugby league players have been found to be doing in their private lives if that is what a' boys club' is - good luck trying to rid that in any club because it exists everywhere and there is nothing wrong with that.
If we are going by this so called Boys Club Mantra? Well we are building one here by having guys like Tedesco, Moses, Brooks, Sirronen, Sue, Lovett etc…. As all these guys have played together from the lower grades and as far as I'm aware they hang out together alot.
I think there is nothing wrong with it as Commeraderie and Mateship are formed, obviously the players as Professionals just have to know when to switch on and be serious.
Maybe in the past with characters like Liam Fulton, Bryce Gibbs, Heighno, Benji etc.... Used to occur more often than it should.
Obviously JT being the Boss would have to monitor this situation.
In my playing Days Coaches would come and go but your mates were the reason you stayed at the same Club, it obviously wouldn't apply as much in the NRL level cause it's there job and livelihood.
I understand that mate, but they're professional footballers. If it's about pissing around with your mates, maybe they need to drop back to Ron Massey cup and get a day job. When you're on hundreds of thousands of dollars and the fans are paying plenty to watch you play they don't care if you want to play with your mates or not, they expect that you play to the best of your ability.
Case in point, Benji came out and said that footy is about playing with his mates while being one of the highest paid players at the club. How does that resonate with the punter earning 50K a year who sheds hundreds of dollars on tickets/memberships and merchandise? It's not a good look.
