MATT LODGE...

I don't think we need to sack him just cause he refused to leave a Night Club ? By reports he didn't punch on with anyone did he ?
Was obviously intoxicated i gather .

Very odd that this incident occurred on the 11th of January yet the article talking up Lodge was posted on the 22nd of Jan…..

You get arrested now for not leaving a nightclub? Hopefully there isn't more to it be a shame for someone so talented to throw it away due to stupidity....Stood down for one week while the investigation is concluded I presume......

The season will be starting soon thank goodness , these guys are not mental giants hence why they like having there head pummelled every week. A keeper as long as it is not to serious no problem ,will they ever learn and realise how lucky they are to be able to have a career that could set them up for life but then again a minimum wages job would do wouldn't it! Knuckle Head..

If you do not leave a licenced premises when asked your DONE no questions asked .I think it is a $500 fine on the spot.

The question not being asked is WHY was he asked to leave the night club?

Surely it wasn't because his Mommy was calling for him….

You can be asked to leave clubs/bars because of some very innocuous reasons. Maybe Lodges was for something worse but it might be for something barely worth a mention.

What pisses me off is every loud mouth who thinks they will successfully argue their way out of it.

Young dumb and full of piss and vinegar lol
Agree with someone above, fine him and then put him through the wringer on the training paddock
This is a non event - happens all the time, every weekend.
Still has the makings of an international and we should do everything we can to keep him on track

exactly, many footy stars (not lodge) have people throwing slurs and generally getting riled up which has the potential to escalate. so bouncers often ask the player to leave before anything happens.

not sure what happened here, but innocent until proven guilty i guess. doesn't seem like hes done too much to deserve a sacking, especially since carney apparently got 5 chances at the sharks alone.

Not a good look for young Lodge or the club, but hopefully he has enough between the ears to learn from this and it never happens again.

The article barely even mentions his arrest and to be stood down from pre season training for a week (oh no! everyone loves pre season training…) by the club makes me think this is pretty much a non event as mentioned.
Hopefully anyway! I'm a big fan of him on field...don't know the guy so can't comment on him as a person.

It sounds like it is just a case of a young bloke being kicked out of a night club for being pissed, it would be a non-event if he were just a regular pleb.

Without the facts it is all hearsay or guess work. I hope he is not made an example of by the NRL Integrity Unit who must be under pressure to apply a heavy penalty to someone to set a precedent. Also they may be looking to get some credibility after the Carney debacle.

I appreciate that they're young but nothing good every happens past midnight when you're out. Lodge is just going through the kings cross phase in the early/mid 20s. I used to speak to Benji few times at the cross (Brooklyn bar) when we were the same age. But he never really caused trouble probably because no one knew who he was at the time.

This doesn't sound like a big issue to me. We won't remember this in a few weeks.

He sounds like a complete douchebag as a person.

Hes young hes drunk hes in a nightclub(NOT ILLEGAL) some idiot bouncer is probably jealous that some footballer is getting more eye candy than he and his "fully sick" body is and is too much of a wuss to cop it.Happens all the time.He hasnt bashed a woman or a taxi driver or anything else violent or immoral.Let him be a young man.

Not sure on the real detail, all I know is that all the other clubs would be salavating at the possibility of recruiting him to give him a "Fresh" start.

Balls to that

Keep him and work him and his ilk so hard that he is to tired to go out.

Reiterate - KEEP HIM
