Really unfair of Mbye here

**How he's treated our club has been unfair.**

He's easily top 5 worst players we've signed in the last 10-15 years.

Imo there Demps, totally, right on. He doesn't seem to care, he nor Packer how crippled their contracts have left our club. Our own fault for doing the contracts sure, but they have a responsibility to try and make it work.

Maybe MBye has been (he seems to be having more of a go then Packer but maybe Packer's injured? idk) but it does appear to not have been a big enough effort from an outsider's point of view.

Packer is having a laugh aye.

These guys are disgraceful imo.

These pair have never shown any interest.

Ivan can only be blamed so much.
I hope we learn from this and only recruit players who are willing to put in.

Did you hear on here a few months ago, a poster posted that an ex-player (of pretty decent calibre) approached Packer whilst Russell was in Reserves offering advice on how he can get back to First Grade. Packer's response was of thanks but no thanks, I'm right thanks.

I knew it's all rumours, but fair out, can you just imagine that??

Yeah, Spud Carroll said that.
Pretty pathetic attitude hey.

* Edit. Heard it on TV when he said it, NRL tonight.

Played more games than Josh Reynolds, output & contract similar, effort and enthusiasm about 1/50th

Yep that's the main point for me. Reynolds was desperate to get out there and have a crack, but his body just kept letting him down, or he wouldn't get selected. No excuse for Mbye though.

That's not a rumour - Packer is a lot of things - an idiot is not one of them, he's a realist and knows his career is coming to an end, hence all the study he's done over the past few years - he'll walk into some type of business management role next year.

I don't think the initial comment is always factual.

I know guys who have done 15 years on drug charges and now work in schools and juvenile prisons, mentoring youth.

Also seen interviews on YouTube where former bra boys explain how they can't get a job because of their charges. Saying they can't can't get truck driving jobs because they can't qualify for dangerous good licences with criminal charges on record.

Kinda hard to get clarification but I think it's a person to person assessment.... I believe Packer would be able to get around a few times and find employment somewhere.

What do you think about this @willow ?

I’m no expert, but I think the only crime that would really hold you back post incarceration would be any kind of sex crime. Particularly involving a child.

Maybe MBye has been (he seems to be having more of a go then Packer but maybe Packer's injured? idk) but it does appear to not have been a big enough effort from an outsider's point of view.

Packer is having a laugh aye.

These guys are disgraceful imo.

That's not a rumour - Packer is a lot of things - an idiot is not one of them, he's a realist and knows his career is coming to an end, hence all the study he's done over the past few years - he'll walk into some type of business management role next year.

Yep got his MBA. Had plenty of time to do his assignments while injured.

Won’t be getting a job with his jail record mate. That wasn’t drink driving, that was legitimate assault

So you’re telling me no one who has been properly rehabilitated with a degree can get a job?

100%
I was thinking the same.

As you probably know, when you do a working with children check... some things may now show like driving convictions and other smaller things.

Whereas anything related to a child will be flagged. AVO with children involved or more serious crimes.

I don't think Packer's charge will hold him back, other than when he couldn't get a visa to play in the UK. May be wrong though.

Pathetic thread. The man can play not he's fault we paid him too much and haven't found his position. Stuff like this makes this forum a sad place to be

This is the only sensible comment I've seen in 9 pages.

Any assault charges will fail a working with children check. Though i think Packer will be fine finding an office job with his degrees.

Mbye not even close to the worst player to play for Wests. Could argue most over paid but i'd still disagree.

Anyways my nomination for the worst is Lee Murphy 9 games in 2001.

Well, if I saw a guy or woman with a charge on their file, it would be an immediate red flag. And if I knew it was assault, I’d be getting rid of him. Plus, in the corporate world, his tattoos are going to be a turn off especially for any legal companies.

He's not even in the worst 5 players in the starting side.

In no particular order

Nofo
Talau
Leilua
Liddle
Tamou

Over the longer run.
