Sooo many they are just not memorable.

Are you kidding about Withers? He was an absolute champion for a guy his size. Absolutely smashed guys twice his size. So much ticker.

A champion halfback? because of his defence?

I wonder if a current halfback gets a pass on that basis?

Not sure how you could be the club's worst ever player but also play three state of origin games?

Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.
If he was any better he would've been a main-stay in that origin team.

If based on bang for our buck. Then yes he is

If based on "bang for Buck" then surely Packer wins hands down? Packer = 34 games, Mbye = 60 games.

Ballin might be hard to beat on that basis = 3 games.

They were far from 80 minute games too.

Interesting point regarding Mbye playing 26 more games, but seriously, how many times should he have been picked out of that 26 games?... ??

People are quick to hate on Packer and Mbye ....they were picked to play for Ivan,he recruited them specifically for what he wanted ....Packer and Matalino played well for us while Ivan was here and Mbye was very good as well...We finally seemed to be on the right track when Ivan ditched us like the weak turd he is,he knew we needed him,we all got on the bus and then he had to go back and coach his son...he had a contract with us and should have done the right thing and seen it out with us,he knew he was leaving his son at Penrith from day dot,Chin was never going to leave his mates..
Mats med retires,Packer unlimitted injuries and Mbye goes from good recruit to very verstile utility player and done the job best to his abilities...I wont ever name call him as most on here do because I have never walked a mile in his shoes and would never know what he has been through...big money was offered and he took it to PLAY FOR IVAN and BE COACHED by IVAN...I cant and wont bag him because of Ivans backflip,some players play well for some coaches and some dont....PRIME example BLAIR for Bellamy and bugger all for SHEENS...

Worst player for us?
There' a few in the mix and still heaps more after that.
But really, hard to character assassinate anyone too much - footy is business, each player was chosen to play for our jersey, some proved better than others.
I'd rather look at the zillions of positives and examples of the unforgettable players we've seen in our jersey.
Treasure the good times.

Well said. I haven't always been a detractor of those guys, but some of the things forum members have posted about them are downright funny. As any WT supporter will know, a sense of humour is a must, coz if we can't have a laugh our heads would explode.
Packer seemed to fall off a cliff, and due to an unfortunate run of injuries, never got back to being a dominant force.
Mbye though, and I've said it before, is a solid player. He was above average when we signed him, but after a while it became obvious he wasn't going to be a game-breaker. I think alot of us would agree his gameplay isn't comensurate with his salary, but we don't hold that against him. It just frustrates me that he can be an above-average player but doesn't seem interested. Whether it's the coach, club or team dynamic shouldn't matter. Fact is he's a foorballer who's in Origin calculations, and the chance to cement a regular spot in that team should be enough motivation for him to play out of his skin.
As for being the worst WT player, I personally don't think so.

I like your response,but look at it another way...Mbye was purchased by Ivan as a halves player come fullback,he is a specialist halves player and when Ivan left he had Brooks and Benji to contend with as the combo,hence ever since the reshuffling he has played many different positions for the sake of the club because we had no one else to fill the voids...he did the job without being outstanding in one...except the games only recently when he played 5/8 alongside Brooks,the backline had more ball and Brooks played far better in those few games....thats why I refuse to hate on the bloke....but Ivan is a different story for me.....

Yeah I've never been a fan of constantly shuffling players around positionally, especially back-rowers playing centres. I will make an allowance for a bench utility role, but if you have a guy who's good enough in one position just leave them there to settle in, concentrate on that particular role and get better. I reckon you're right that his game suffered from it. As for Ivan, you and me both.
P.S. I like the phrase at the bottom if your posts, it's very true. One of my motto's in life is to "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Dunno who said it, but read it on one of those office desk flip calendars many moons ago.

Oi... you poking shit at me or what?...
Just kidding, I'm not that insecure. ?
Seriously though TT, what a huge compliment and I'm very humbled and grateful. I will point out, though, that I'm not without my brain-spasms, but in the end I'm Wests Tigers til I die. When it comes down to it, whoever puts our jersey on has my complete backing and (some might say misguided) faith that they can rise to the challenge and meet or exceed expectations and make this club feared again and our supporters envied.
Cheers.

The magpie lads of the forum are good blokes.

@Magpieger @MAGPIES1963

Love the Magpies jersey too.

Mbye is far from our worst player. A few seasons ago he was one of our best. He joined to play under Cleary which he went ok. Madge doesn’t know how to use him. As to his contract $$ that’s not on him the club put him on a monster deal just like Packer, Reynolds and Mats. Those 3 would be worse than Mbye by a mile for us regarding signings. Our big name recruits have a history of being diabolical with us because we just don’t play them how they played at the previous club - we have a habit of trying to work round pegs into square hole syndrome.

Seems like Madge doesn't know how to use a lot of players.

Corey Thompson, ring a bell?

Guy doesn't coach to the roster, no person centred approach and tries to bring in players he likes that aren't the necessarily the best.

@The_Patriot knows what's up.
