Message to CEO re ANZ

Brookvale is a dump Hobbo. We really need our own stadium. ANZ is still the best option until then. Especially when it comes to the $$ clubs charge to watch football these days. I want a nice seat and be comfortable.

I understand what you're saying about ANZ . Comfy seats etc … And I know that leichhardt won't last forever . We pay good money to attend live games and people don't want to sit on a muddy hill . I'm just old school mate !
I attended the souffs / tigers game in round three and for me the atmosphere was awesome , but games like that are few and far between .
I really envy teams like parra and Penrith who have one home ground ... !!!!!!!!! But as a joint venture
We'll have to put up with it I suppose until all of use old fossils die off and the younger wests tigers brigade take full control .

why do we need OUR own stadium? what's wrong with ANZ?

why waste money building a stadium in campbelltown (and anger the balmain side) when ANZ which is relatively neutral?

good seating, OK view, CHEAP, easy to get in and out of, GREAT atmosphere during big games, opportunity to go to other games (tiger away games) and the tigers get PAID for it!

i realise leichardt/campbo may have sentimental value to many but you cant play 2/3 of our home games at a loss. 3 stadiums divide profits and fans. the most im ok with is taking 1 game a year to the suburban grounds (for e.g. heritage rounds with crazily expensive tickets).

Comfy seats …..Well I'd rather sit on nails and win personally.

We were talking about a new stadium at Liverpool - not Campbelltown by the way.

I feel that would be a terrible move. Has any market research gone into the interest of Rugby League in this area ?

We already have 3 home grounds and people want to build another one? Keep leichardt and campbo for the fossils but we don't have the money to pay a retiring coach and we wanna build an entire stadium?

Won't be possible for 20 years.

So you're a fossil for wanting the team to continue at the grounds the side has played at since 2000?

no this is the ground with the biggest capacity in sydney.
the home ground of 2 other successful clubs
whatever other stadium we build is not gonna be any bigger or better so why waste money? they're already planning a stadium out west at penrith and at parra. the point im making is that there is no need to splash money into new stadium.

stuff like new facilities, S&D team etc. needs more money than a new stadium.

also, "fossils" was used in a sense of humour not degrogatory in anyway.

As resident of Liverpool and a Wests Tigers member of 10 years standing, I think it's a great idea.

How much market research did you put into determining it is a "terrible move"?

Not the point. I would want to be very sure that the idea was viable before building a new facility. You need to look at all aspects, including demographics, transport, size etc. There is no such thing as the 'field of dreams'. With Wests Tigers, Wests or Balmain never being located there before it would be a colossal risk. We would certainly not want to repeat the scenarios of the past. What size stadium ? 20,000…. Pointless building another suburban ground like that in Sydney. If we really are serious about growing the game then we should be trying to fill 80,000+ size stadiums. That is the size that needs to be built looking forward, anything less will limit the growth of the game.

If Leichardt is where we beat Manly, the more games there the better!

Correlation is not causation. They will win just as many games elsewhere if they are good enough. While I have fond memories of Leichhardt oval it is not really up to modern day standards. The reality is it's days are numbered. It's not if but when it will be discarded. No money being spent on it and so it will only decline. Unfortunately that is how it is.

Win - loss % for home games in 2014:

Campbelltown: 50% (1/2)
Leichhardt: 50% (1/2)
ANZ: 100% (1/1)
