True, however it’s up to the coach to have them 1st grade ready, preparation for such type scenarios.
He always says In the pressers ‘He Knows what these guys are capable of’ so if they are failing over and over then by his own thoughts… their preparations are wrong, ie.. Bad coaching?
I don’t even know anymore, we used to look like we could be any team, we used to lose and blame the refs, now we are just… a mess.
I’m confused and hurting right now lol.
Madge tried the Bellamy approach cursing at the team that did not work,
He then tried the I am you’d mentor approach but the players realise he is past it. He had been a dead man walking from last season but the board assumed would cost too much although extended his contract. Results will speak for themselves the players play like they want him gone lose next week and he will be.

Watch maumalo in the presser. How he appointed him skipper is beyond me
Yeah, it's nothing against Ken, who is a good enough player, but there seems nothing about him that says captain.

There's not really a player on this side though that you'd be confident will be playing 1st grade at the end of this year. So how you pick a captain out of this group is tough. You'd maybe go luciano but he's leaving, maybe Twal, but he's a sort of bench rotation type player, not the best. The only player who looks any good is Hastings, and he's only been at the club for 5 minutes.

But even with the lack of options, you don't go making it worse by naming a whole bunch of average players to be captain. You get embarrassing situations like today, when one captain drops the bomb to set the tone for the game, another captain has an absolutely atrocious kicking game to kill momentum every time and our last captain gets himself sin binned and directionlessly running around all game.

This team has no identity or character to build upon. It starts with our lack of leadership and collective indifference. Joe O is a perfect example. He's fast, strong and got great skills, and his performances have been okay, but there's just no mongrel there, no great competitiveness or desperation. He's not going to ever do more than just get through his work.

The worst part about today was our defense. In every single tackle we were driven backwards. That's not down to possession or anything like that, it was happening from the first minute, it's attitude. In the trial against the roosters and the first half against Melbourne, and even the trial against Manly, I was actually surprised at how physically competitive we were. But it wasn't even close today.

Have we gone backwards? That is the question.
If ‘Yes’
How do we go forward?

My stance has always been that the deep malaise we're in is far more complex than just a coach and his staff. The whole club from the very top down is an utter shambles, with a few exceptions.
Last year's decision to keep Madge on at the 11th hour is a perfect example of the lack of joined up thinking.

Madge's time is clearly up - this project is not working. That we're possibly on the verge of sacking another coach in the first month of the season is a shocking indictment on the leadership.

No idea who the replacement would be, but whoever it is will not be a quick fix. The whole joint needs a total shakeup or it'll be another 10 years before we're looking at finals. The coach is just a part of it.

Peach is a cheeky lad.
Causing some ruckus with a smile on his face.
At least we know he's not serious.

Brooks masquerade got people thinking this years his year every year...
"I'll pretend I'm focused and serious and no one will know..."

Pathetic.

Peachy didn’t even have a contract. If it wasn’t for us he’d be enjoying an early retirement. No other club wanted him.

Peachey is a capable player, I just think making him capatain and giving him an ill defined role means he's playing too loose and overplaying his hand. Could see him do well in a side like Roosters or Melbourne where he'd have a clear role with an emphasis on discipline and structure. With us it's just adlib in a big mess and hope for the best because you know the 5th tackle option will suck anyway.

We play like a bunch of guys for whom footy is their job. I’d rather watch a bunch of rookies living their dream.

He WAS a capable player. However i feel he‘s in that bracket of being a player that we signed 2 or 3 years too late. His best days are behind him, I don‘t think that can be argued. I have that concern for Api. Great player, but feel like we may have signed him too late to get the best out of him.

We do not work as a team in either defence or attack. We do not appear to have any attacking plans or coordination.

There is no energy in the team. We look weak, slow and fatigued.

Surely some of this lies with the coach. The roster is poor, but the effort is worse.

Sheens is not the answer it comes from the top with the chairman & ceo.
Our last finals appearance was while Sheens was coach.
Our only ever grand final win was when Sheens was coach.
Our only ‘Potential’ option at this point of a replacement is.. Sheens.
Even if he doesn’t fill in as coach, I’m sure he has the pull to clean this mess up… at some capacity, why else hire him?

No way will Sheens take over. Not even in a caretakers role. At best, he will mentor a rookie coach. His days as a head coach are over

Perhaps… but he could still take part in cleaning up this mess.
Clean up the mess, make it shine and protect our valuable assets.

I disagree, I think Peachey is still a good player. I just think players like him need a more clearly defined role in the team so that they aren't trying to overplay. It was weird today watching our forwards not really taking hit-ups everything slow short passes to flat footed players. I also think Api is an intelligent enough player to be goo even when he starts to slow down physically. Whether we get the best out of them is a totally different story.
