Keep in mind this was from one of his family members however I’d been told the club was so impressed with his pre season and his data (apparently in the top few of the club, from a guy who’s never been fulltime) that they had spoken about offering him a fulltime contract last year. They told me it was for NRL but I’m assuming they meant development

THat seems like a more reasonable trajectory, a development Contract next year which would probably point to first grade in 2023? But havent the development Contracts been allocated for 2022? A Development Contract for 2023?

Yeah, he's very highly rated by the club, but the knee injury has probably halted his development by a year.

Possibility for 2023, but I highly doubt he plays first-grade next year.

ahh no i went school with him and we was 3 grades higher then me, didnt know if he finished as a 17 or 18 year old

I wouldn’t rule him out of first grade for this year. I reckon he might get a crack towards the end of the season.

Honestly can't see him in grade without a full off season in grade

2023 ladies and gents would be the smart call .....

Calling him for first grade? A tad premature, the kid hasn't even played Flegg yet.

Let's see how he goes in preseason this year, and then he'll definitely start off in Flegg. But if he's impressive he'll be playing up a grade

There’s no doubt Michael’s a future NRL player but definitely not a this point of his career.

He needs to play in the J.Flegg first of all to see how his recovered from his injury/fitness etc, then a season or 2 in the NSW Cup to ply his trade against men.

To even contemplate bringing him into an under performing NRL side is just ridiculous.

Agreed. If he is first grade standard he will tear Flegg apart. Lets see that first, let him get his confidence up. Then let him acclimatise to getting hit in Reggies.....if he stands out there then he is ready.

Anyone know what happened to Mikey Tannous? He did his ACL shortly after training with the first grade squad in the off-season and I haven’t heard anything since. He’s not even listed on the SG ball or Jersey Flagg squad lists… After viewing the kids highlights I thought he had the potential to be the Benji-like saviour that could turn this clubs fortunes around… Does anyone affiliated with the club know if he’s still in the system?

Im told he is ready...get him into the spine ASAP even at 14

How old is he, and isnt he coming of an ACL? Big call.

He's 19, still in the rehab group at the moment with the guys in this pic and a few others but will be fit for Round 1.

Did his ACL in an U/19's pre-season trial for Balmain.

On the far left in this pic.

Ok, so he is 19yo, recovering from an ACL and wont get a pre-season in this year. Its a no from me. Its a bit much to expect and too much for a young kid

I’d be surprised if he won’t get a pre season. He injured it in the preseason last year. Usually 12 months is a full recovery.

Benji Marshall anyone?

Not at all, I was actually thinking watching that video that he has a weird sidestep. Its not explosive like Benji of even Fittler, he sort of warms into it, its more of a sharp swerve than a sidestep. Obviously effective in that video but I reckon it would be worked out. In NRL they would just throw more than one at him.
