Mick Potter on the Sunday Footy Show

A lot of concentration on Robbie. I saw Potters comments very differently in that he probably wanted to pick his own assistants but was told he didn't have that choice. When you want to be the coach and pick your own support, yet the CEO and board appoints your assistants for you…....what other club does this? NONE

I think he outlined Robbie well, very passionate and occasionally a pain in the rear, but I didn't at all get the impression he wanted to take the captaincy from him or that he caused the whole mess. Not at all.

I think there are too many people trying to find a reason to shoot Farah, particularly in the media.

As for him not wanting to play that game, I can understand that. Obviously so could Potter because he said he gives credit for Farah sticking it out and playing, and playing well.

Clearly it is more behind the scenes as far as management, board and CEO that were the issues. I trust him enough to have belief in the new board. He had nothing to gain from commenting, but he does believe the whole situation has now improved.

That's exactly how i heard Potters comments too Swordy. To me it was very clear that he was saying the trouble was behind the scenes with management etc and not Robbie or any other player. Great post Swordy.

I think it is pathetic the amount of crap Farah is getting in here.

We would have won about 4 games without him this year. Potter should be thankful because without him he looked disgustingly bad even early in the season.

The club has 100 bigger problems then the captain, and our most consistently performing player.

Lets make Farah the scap goat though fo why we are a basket case. Id rather he be furious he are so bad then be happy and eat money like Lawrence, Galloway, Moltzen, Blair etc.

Not interested in getting into a name calling catfight with you CK.But let me say this.Let me go on record and say Robbie Farah the footballer is top notch.Robbie farah off the field re potter and others equals very poor.Why do you think it was nearly two weeks before Robbie fronted training again to front up to his coach and teammates.Cause he knew what he did was wrong.I have had my share of Farah bashing on this thread and a few others lately I will admit and I have stuck up for Mayer(and theres been plenty of Mayer bashing from others too to be fair) because my belief is that if you look at the timeline of major events over the past year our decline wasnt cause of Mayer(or Potter).Our season was ruined "THE DAY" the Tallis interview was aired on the day of the saints game(we smashed the dogs the week before).The day before this interview came out we were all on cloud nine talking finals and possible grand final after the saints game it was will we win another game all year.And it took a cronulla team playing its 37th player of the year for us to win the last round.I for one loved the review Brian Smith did and I think it will reap rewards for us down the track aswell as the new board restructure helping us to get away from all the Wests vs Balmain crap that has plagued the JV.Not to mention they seem much more business savvy than any other board we have ever had.We will finally have a new head coach that will have full reign of coaching staff and coaching decisions which should shut the players up and let the coaches coach.Not to mention we have the most talented youngsters in the game.These are all Mayer initiatives and that is why Im showing Mayer some love cause hes sowing the seeds of some very successful crops that we will harvest this time next year.Trust me.Just be patient with him.Anyways I have said my piece re Farah and Im done talking about him but I just hope he has learnt his lesson and acknowledges he made a mistake and he becomes a better person and as much a leader off the field as he is on it.To quote the greatest coach of all time Jack Gibson."winning starts on monday".

Where do you see our players? In pubs, clubs ? Are you reffering to club events ? Not all players hang out together, unless it's a must attend event, organised by the club. If you see them drinking at pubs and clubs then i think it's a good thing Robbies not there.

I know what many will say "We didn't have any centre replacements" This however is a very weak excuse - the coach at no time tried to encourage the club to buy a centre with some semblance of ability. The best he could come up with was Lulia. This is where we the team became a crocker - playing crocks week in and week out. The opposition teams knew it and took full advantage. Like the saying goes, you make the bed, you have to sleep in it.

The coach never had a say….
So who picked the teams each week? Who was coaching the team Payten and Kidwell? Then can we give credit to Mick for any of the wins then if he had no say as you suggest? Clearly we are not making him accountable for the shocking losses cause he had no say - so how can we credit him for the wins when he had no say?

I think he had a say and control to a point how much of a say and control did he have and when did he have it who knows

All I know is that Potter knows how to coach what he doesn't do well is play the political game of lies and deception he copped from the club the CEO Support staff and players.

The club has a lot of issues it needs to fix but potter wasn't one of them if anything he was the only decent person in there with the right intentions.

I am not a big fan of Adam Blairs onfield play or the pricetag he comes at but I can assure you OFF THE FIELD Adam Blair certainly is a good leader of our polynesian players especially aswell as Blake Austin and a few of the others.You see I do know what happens with these players off the field and if you asked Blake Austin and Bodene Thompson some of the reasons for their success would be better concentration and professionalism with the help of people like Blair.Yet again has that leadership from Blair helped others yes but for the most part it certainly hasnt improved him as a player.Although Blair was better this year than last year.So Improvement is there.Our problem isnt with the onfield abilities of the players its they are weak off it.I dont know that I want to keep Adam Blair either(due to his pricetag/play)but I am just saying that in an area we could improve(off field leadership)Blair does a good job.Heres another potential leader for you completely from left field,Sitaleki Akouala.Ever since James Gavet has had alcohol problems and coming to games late(which is a joke for a first grader I know)Sitaleki(despite only being 22 years old)has taken James under his wing and his alcohol and punctuality has improved markedly.If you rewatch the easter game where we beat Parra at homebush in one of our best games of the year It was James Gavet and Sita(As I and other friends call him)who were the stars in the forwards.
