Mick Potter - That was horrible

Now this guy has walked into a horrible set of circumstances. A fractured group, disenchanted players, inherited players and coaches. Board room fighting, CEO resigning etc. I think he has done some good things in the circumstances, however he needs to find a way to motivate the side. This performance is beyond terrible. He would be in danger of losing his job if he play like this in the last 5 rounds (and maybe rightly so)

* Why is he keeping faith with shocking footballers like Anasta, Ayshford, Marshall who have been horrible all year?
* Why is the side looking completely lifeless and no overall defensive improvement?
* No one looks motivated and that is the coaches job

Look I know we are a dud side, with some sooking players and playing for nothing for then pride. Im not saying POtter should be sacked, he needs time to fix this mess. An utter mess. I want to keep faith with him and give him a chance with his own staff and some new players. However Im starting to worry about his authority and his ability to motivate a side. He would want to be livid with an effort like this, and make some serious changes.

Ill keep my faith in him, and would probably give him next to fix this mess. However limp thrashing like this, using players that are of no use make my quite worried about his authority. I dont want to see a clam and lifeless press conference after that rubbish. Show us your at least angry Mick. Im starting to get my doubts about him.

Who can we pick to replace them? 2nd tier cap been full gives us few options - Thompson to center, Pettybourne back into NRL side? Bring in an injured Woods and Bell?

Man I'm pretty sure this mind boggling second tier salary cap joke is actually preventing us from dropping non performers right now.

The fine is more palpable then the shame those guys are bringing to the Wests Tigers jerseys

Potter press confernce coming up in a few mins. I just want to see some anger, dissapointmnemt, something. Not the same old emotionless dead man walking defeatist we see every week. Show some passion Mick. The players show none for a reason. Fire up.

I hope he is given all the time he needs to fix this mess. If hypothetically he is sacked, will our dysfunctional board take responsibility? After all it is them who sacked Sheens and if the hypothetical happens, they have employed the wrong coach…

Parramatta have set the precedent by sacking coach after coach, I hope our board have learnt from them. Unlike parra, our future looks a lot brighter. Just need a bit of stability.

Pay the fine, who cares.

Well that would be a good enough excuse. Maybe it is impossible to motivate this group of players I have no idea. Like I said Potter should be given a chance to make his own team and coaches next year. However another performance like this against Parramatta and he would be on thin ice. He needs to be furious with a performance like this at the very least, you cannot be calm and measure about rubbish like this.

I said when he got the job that I would be worried that our board would become Parramattaesque and not give him the time to actually turn the rabble into a good club and it's looking like it's heading that way. I'm not sure exactly what Potter is supposed to have done here when he has a record injury toll, dysfunctional board and senior players that don't want to tackle.

I agree Eddie but unless the club is willing to back him and let him drop Marshall it all means nothing because it wont work

Only one of Marshall or Anasta can be dropped. Because we would still need one of them to partner Sironen in the halves. Can't play anybody new unless you wanna put Tedesco as a half or something.

It would be,

Marshall or Anasta out, Sironen to start.
Somebody comes onto the bench.

Nah we will turn up against Parra. Nobody has to travel and Marshall and others will have had it circled in their calendar as the game to try hard in so they can show suitors highlights of it.

I think Potter is the man to fix the mess and there are encouraging signs with some of the non performers being moved on.
Having said that I still wonder why he hasnt been able to coach Lawrence to stop moving out of the line in defence?

While I agree with that, he should at least have the young blokes improving. Big Ben has looked excellent the past few weeks and yet Potter gives hacks like Anasta and Thompson all the game time. Lawrence is done and a center, yet Potter won't move him. Potter has already said Braith is next years 6.

Any team with Braith Anasta at 6 in 2014 will not get near the finals. Potter needs to be much more aggressive and innovative.

The second tier cap looks to be protecting non performers and stiffling lower grade players chances who want to have a go

Was feeling alright about him but a loss like that shows lack of progression.
We're struggling and I'm not sure a half or two will fix much at all. With all the players back now minus Woods of note the excuses (which are/were plausible) are running out.

Why all of a sudden is an old and out of sorts Anasta playing in the halves? after playing bench backrower most the season?

Why is Ayshford playing first grade, when he asked for a relase and has been horrible all year?

Why is the side completely unmotivated?? Even Farah looks jack of it all.

WHy is the defense getting even worse??

Sheens created all this mess i know.

However I thought i would see little improvements as the year went on. However questions at least now must be raised about Potter's ability to select and motivate. Which is a worry.
