Mitch Brown

Those stats astound me cant ever remember him having a standout game but stats dont lie over such are large sample of games. Maybe the brains trust have come up with a good one at the right price, they must get lucky once after so many flops from the bargin bin

Found 2 more games where he played FB this year, in both games he was listed in the team sheet at centre or wing but ended up moving to fullback:

**Round 3 vs. St. George-Illawarra Dragons**
6 tackles, 3 missed tackles, 2 1-on-1 tackles, 18 runs for 153 metres

**Round 5 vs. Canberra Raiders**
7 tackles, 1 missed tackle, 1 1-on-1 tackle, 2 tackle breaks, 1 try assist, 1 linebreak assist, 16 runs for 152 metres

I would like to see Mitch play as a fullback in the trials and see how he goes. It would be nice to have a fullback with some size for a change so he can run the ball back strongly. I think Mitch could be a fine fullback for us. Not a bad signing if it was cheap.

Did he play for the Sharks last night? How did he go, is so?

He played the last 30 mins at right centre. He looked very strong, but had a bad read in defence that lead to a Manly try. However, i saw Joel Monaghan do exactly the same thing earlier in the night and he's a rep player, so i can forgive Mitch that one mistake. AT 97kg, he'll be a very handy outside back.

he did make 3 exceptional reads to snuff out tries when they were outmanned aswell, but i dont see him playing centre here with daniela and tupou signing, Full back will be his spot unless injuries occur

Yeh good point. The Sharks looked short a few times on the right and Mitch shut it down.

Based on the performances of players within the club I dont think this was a neccesary signing.

Gallant had an outstanding game today against one of the game's top fullbacks. Meaney also had a solid game for BRET and is a similar player to Brown in regards to size and positions.

Ayshford is going great in the centres and has a perfect build for a centre, tall and lanky but broad shoulders, and has some speed, flair and ball playing ability.

Plus we signed Geoff Daniella to cover centre + wing. As well as Tupou to be on the wing.

Then we have guys like Junior Rociqa and Rhys Pritchard who are consistently having great games for their respective teams and have earnt rep jumpers in the last 12 months.

Sorry, but he just wasnt needed.

I concur. Another example of inept recruitment. A signing that was not necessary. Typical though, it seems to be the Wests Tigers way :unamused:

Given we have lost Collis and Tagive already, Lazarus hasn't played in 2 years, Tupou hasn't been able to get on the field properly for almost a year and has yet to show his knee is working, Gallant hasnt yet done enough for a new contract and even if he does hasnt yet proved himself in first grade, Halatau who has played a lot of backline is most likely moving, Moltzen who has been in the outside backs now looks like his role will be halfback and the guys in reserve grade are there for a reason - So I think the need to sign some outside backs was obvious to anyone who thought about it.

Yes we should probably now move onto forwards - however who depends on weather Halatau, Galea and Payne are re-signed and what the club thinks of all the young forwards who have got a go this year - Schirnack, Dwyer, Mataka, etc

Brown and Daniela seem like good singings for next year and Tupou is he finds form - So Mayby 1 more outside back and a prop and a prop/sr - reserve

Maybe someone else is on the way out? Ryan? Gallant? Lawrence? Tuiaki?

The only one on that list likely to leave is Gallant.

TBH we only needed one of Daniella or Brown … not both.

I like the 2 signings…..everyone bags the club saying we do not have enough depth when players are injured and then when we go and buy players that a decent young players we say what a rubbish signing. Go figure.
The 2 signing provide depth and competiton for places within the backline.
Now they need to recruit a good young prop like **John Kite** or go after **Matt Scott** who would be great in our colors.
Just remember guys, Arron Woods should be playing 1st grade next year and also maybe Andrew Fiffta who has been playing some good footy of late. These guys will provide depth in the prop department for years to come.

The club DOES have depth, it's just Sheens would rather use a utility in the backs like Hanbury or Halatau rather than promote a specialist centre or wing from the lower grades.

We've got guys like Rociqa and Pritchard who have both earnt rep jumpers in the last year, both who are centres, yet when both our first grade centres are out, Sheens uses guys like Halatau and Hanbury instead...

Maybe either Daniella or Brown couldve been bought for some depth with first grade experience, but we have enough guys in the lower grades to cover the backs. I'd be spending the money on buying some experienced front rowers instead.
