Mitch Moses Denied Release - Confirmed

I have to say, viewing this all unfold, and now seeing it's extremely likely Moses will be released in the following weeks, i'm actually a bit angry as a supporter, i laid out nearly 2k worth of membership tickets up front assuming a certain team would be on the park (understand there are no certainties in life, especially with injuries in RL) but you do expect outside "bad luck" to get that team, especially one of your play makers and better players. Now, if the tigers release him, we'll play with a substandard half combo for the rest of year, nearly assuring us of not making the 8, while Parra will now be in a much better position to make the 8.

So tigers admin, if you're willing to let him walk out and play for the opposition, i want some of my money back, you as the tigers admin will get something back for this, unless it's shown that it's somehow passed through to the team this year, i'm going to think long and hard about buying memberships up front again.

In my view, we are in competition with these other clubs, why are we making it easier for the them to make the 8, and harder for us, it's a possibility that Parra comes 8th and us 9th, and the difference being Moses….

anyway, end of rant...back to work.

I agree 100% with everything you've written. We are making another team stronger whilst making us massively weaker. I know he won't be here next year but can't we still put in our best effort this year to make an improbable (but not impossible) run for the 8? Without Moses we have absolutely no chance.

Agree ten folds with both of you. It's a very poor business decision if we let him go.

This is the perfect opportunity for our team to make a stand and help stamp out these players who think they can break contracts mid season and do what they like. The Broncos aren't letting Hunt do it, same for the Cowboys and Ponga. It's not unreasonable for a club to say, "pull your head in mate, you have a contract until the end of the year so honour that".

Until I see him in the blue and yellow jersey I will keep holding out hope our club won't be that stupid.

Wasn't part of Arthur's hook to Moses is that he would get protection from the likes of Scott and M'ua in defence…

Will be interesting how this release plays out with CEO Pascoe on record stating no way Wests Tigers will be disadvantaged should said release be granted...

Probably end up with Isaac De Gois..

I think in this thread and others there was some consternation around contracts and their validity.

The problem is that currently the NRL and Clubs do not have to honour contacts due to a clause which is in all contracts - Mutual Dissolution. Basically means if both parties can negotiate a mutually beneficial exit/solution then the contract can be voided or cancelled.

So, easy fix is to change the NRL contract to delete the Mutual Dissolution Clause and therefore the player is bound to the club for the entirety of said contract, regardless of any fallout, dummy spit, being poach for future seasons etc.

Wont happen because as much as we bleat about player loyalty, the clubs also want to have the "option" of moving a player on if a positive business opportunity presents itself.

So, put up with the contracts not meaning to much at all at the end of the day.

No that wouldnt work. Courts would never force a person to provide services to another person if the parties are happy to part ways.

Contract law doesnt work the way you suggest.

There is no reason for a change. The system works fine. As disappointing as it when a player leaves mid season it is still up to the club to release the player. The club doesnt have to.

In this case, of we release him we obviously consider Moses present value isnt worth the space he would take up in the cap this year. That is, we see his value in the future but have always been prepared to pay him overs for the future return.

The system aint broke as annyoing it can feel at times.

If Benny believes that the big two will leave due to Moses leaving it gives me more reason to let them go as that confirms my thoughts this is a boys club and they don't really have the fans or club at heart and I then support Cleary's stand

“I’ve spoken with him (Arthur) and we’ve had a few talks,’’ Nofoaluma said.

“There are a lot of positive things that you hear from him and Mitch has told me the same thing.

So Mitch is trying to talk his mates over to Parra as well. Sigh!

White ant Moses already talking players to go to the club that rejected him.

Benny Elias on NRL 360 saying that he wants Moses to stay at WT for the rest of the year.

Also gave him a MOTM performance ..slaying the Top 4 Cowboys side in a dominate 80 min performance..

Guys please let it go, let him go, we really need for it to happen. I don't care if it means we don't get anything in return or that Mitch goes on to greater things.
My reasons being.
1 Luke Brooks (hopefully) is our future.
The more time we can give Luke to develop his own game as the dominant playmaker and gain control of the team the better.
The kid will find his voice with Moses gone.
2 Mitch is Halfback in a fullbacks body.
Although he wear's the 6 in our side and is capable of playing 5/8 he is hybrid half (like Thurston)
Thurston cannot play succesfully (outside of Rep teams) with a controlling half.
To aleviate this issue the tigers organised alot of the plays with Mitch and Luke run individually on either side of the field.
There is disconnect there and I believe it stems from the fact that one wants to be the dominant half.
I believe Mitch would not be content with playing the rest of the year as 2nd fiddle to Luke. (As Cleary would most likely do)
3\. Littlejohn is decent enough.
Having Littlejohn in the side will allow Brooks to grow as the leader and main ballplayer.
Littlejohn also takes the pressure off him.
4\. Benny (Elias) is talking out of his Arse.
His only saying that crap publically to save face.
One point and time line he got wrong on that section of 360 was when he said the Tigers released a press statement and then Mitch got upset and then signed.
Complete bullshit, the club Released the statement late in the night after 10pm I seem to recall after all the sensationalism of the matter had died down for the night.
5\. The star of the team is the team.
Mitch, Teddy and Woods will no full well moving forwards that they are just players that make up our squad.
So we already know Mitch is not happy with that outcome and wants to be a star in his own right.
If Teddy and Woodsy resign then they have obviously taken this on board and moving forwards we will all be working towards one goal.
If they don't then you know that they to what to move on and build on their profiles in another team and along with Mitch will be mentally moving on.
Alot like Luke Lewis and Michael Jennings in 2012….

Well that's one reason to let him go early I guess.

What got me with what Elias said on NRL360 was that Moses hadn’t re-signed with WT yet because he was waiting for the others, really, what were they all waiting for each other to make the first move, what are they children, you’re adult’s, make your own decision on your own future.

Can see it now…
Moses…you sign first
Woods….nah, you sign first
Moses….Teddy, you sign first then
Teddy….nah, Woodsie you sign first
Woods…no way, Mitch can sign first

Talk about a circus

About as much as I believe the Terrorgraph, and their Manager

Did enjoy when he Benny started to talk about Hayne and the Titans when they were talking about the Raider v Warriors game, then tried to cover himself and just put his foot further in his mouth.
