Since Mitch has asked for the release and lets say his on $600k this year if there was $400k still to pay him this year does that $400k become available in our Cap for this year ?

Yes it does

His contract was $600,000 and we are approximately 24 weeks into the NRL calendar year so If he was released next week it would be around $320.000, would Parra even have $320,000 left in their cap, though no cap space didn’t stop them signing Jennings.

Correct i wouldnt waste another dollar trying to sign them what they have in front of them should be all they need

There is people trying to portray the club as a basket case in the media and little mention on the dog act by Moses. There trying to manipulate people into thinking what they been doing isn't wrong. The facts are there just wish media would call them out on it.

I don't understand how Moses could produce a contract with Parra at such short notice unless it already prepared and just waiting for ink to dry. Maybe he is upset because it took away his bargaining power away from Parra and they can now drop his price before his cooling off period expires that could even be as late as end of season.

No one signs something in 48hrs. He had been talking with them for a while. To not just sign and ask for an immediate release is a dog act.

Didn't see any other big recruit ask for a mid season release when they signed a contract…..

The spoilt brat and the Benny should be shipped onto the front page for all their dodgey exploits.....

You guys are way to harsh..Mitchell just wants to go to a struggling Club and help them play finals footy…Parra have lost four in a row soon to be five..

No one here knows what was going on in the background or why our offer was withdrawn.
Moses was upset at training so perhaps he had ideas of staying before the contract renewal was withdrawn.
Benny knows more than he let on in the couple of interviews he did, very careful with his words and surreptitiously blamed the Tigers.

Wow best article I have rad for a while.
Wish it was picked up in traditional media

That won't happen as there are too many inaccuracies presented as fact - they would face a lawsuit.

So why isn't the author here facing a lawsuit?
He's put his name to it

Really? what are the inaccuracies and are you also suggesting that traditional media never publishes anything with potential inaccuracies?

Traditional media get sued - usually face a payout and have to print a retraction . Stories are usually checked before publication to lessen the chance.
This thread is just being turned into a witch hunt for Elias with Moses copping it because of his family ties.
Just for the record if you ever met Benny Elias he is a nice bloke.

He may be a nice bloke but his business affairs leave a lot to be desired.

Must have changed a lot as he wasn't overly liked when I grew up in the area, on or off the field. I didn't go to school with him, but was good friends with many that went to Holy Cross. Nearly everything that I have heard of him business wise has been less than flattering.

I don't know Mitchell and don't see him as badly as some, but would not like to be in his position with such a pair of uncles such as his advising.

**Just for the record if you ever met Benny Elias he is a nice bloke.**

I have had the pleasure if sitting down for dinner with Benny twice and to be honest I dont have a good read on him as a bloke.

The first time I was at a table at Balmain Leagues after a Wests Tigers GF Luncheon event. I was with Benny, Scotty Gale, Steve Ghosn, an ex Parra first grader (who bought my tickets to teh GF Luncheon) and I think Sirro was floating in and out. Benny was great. Top bloke. very friendly, nice guy and inclusive of me despite the fact I wasnt a top grade player or celebrity. Had a great afternoon/evening. One thing that struck me at the time was that Scotty Gale was in the final stages of his horrible illness and Benny was looking after him TOTALLY (even having to take him to the bathroom) and he did it with grace, dignity and good humour. I was so impressed taht Benny had that in him and was glad for Scotty that Benny looked after him like that. Left the place with a glowing opinion of Benny.

Some years later I am sitting with Benny at a business dinner at which he was a guest of a mutual business acquaintence. It was a dinner a fair way out of town (towards Camden) and Benny arrives late like a rock star, with girls in tow complaining that the limo that he demanded to come all the way out there was late. Generally played the celebrity role. Left that night thinking he was an arrogant prick.

Who knows who or what the real Benny is like, none of us really do. For me, I know all I have to know about him from what he did at Rozelle.
