Mitch Moses Denied Release - Confirmed

There's no way the Tigers are going to release Moses til Brooks is back. We're not always the brightest, but you don't lose both your starting halves to suit another club's plans.

Play the dogs with Littlejohn and Rankin? Yeah nah.

On 2Sm Tunks reckons Tigers are asking for Peni Terepo.

If that was the case peni would be on the train now to concord. He's also off contract this year so no way parra would Baulk at that. But I highly doubt that's who Tigers want in return

Yeah I highly doubt they'd set their sights that low. Terepo started well a few years ago but has gone backwards. Moeroa I would be happy with, but I can't see the Eels letting him go. There is also the fact that he may not want to go - Parra can't just send whoever they want our way…Unless we can get Gutherson, Moeroa, Brown, Ma'u or Jennings from Parra or we could otherwise use the money freed up to sign someone like a Matulino up for this year (as well as a cheap 5/8) then I'd be saying no.

Yep named in our team for the weekend, but that doesn't mean much.

If a deal is struck this week they would need special permission to play him as would tigers for the eels player. Doubt the NRL would sign off on the swap that quickly anyway.

Yep. It really isn't a complex situation. No one from parra has to go. But a player who's off contract for 2018 may look to use this opportunity to secure a deal for 2018/19 with Tigers

Hopefully this doesn't drag on for weeks on end. The club should say we want either player a, b or c and Parra have to convince them to move on. If not just release a statement saying "the Wests Tigers will not be releasing Mitchell Moses for the 2017 season. He is an important part of our team and we look forward to his performances for the rest of 2017."
It's not like where a club with a bunch of strong back ups in reserve grade. Mitch has shown that we will get more of the same type of performances as we have for the last few years and he's our best option at 5/8\. Once all of the chatter around wil he or won't he is finished everyone can move on

We should lock this thread I reckon. It's just going to be negativity for the rest of the season

It can't get much worse than this anyway. Missing the finals for almost 10 years and coming dead second last with your best players wanting out.

I don't mind releasing Moses as long as we get a player swap deal with Parra. There was a suggestion by Kevin Walters on Fox that Clint Gutherson would be ideal swap for Moses.
Not sure Parra would agree but I'd take him. Can play anywhere in the backline and would fill in at 5/8 this year as we look for an experienced half to partner Brooks for next year.
The other player I'd take would be Nathan Brown. Wouldn't solve our lack of a half but he'd be good for us. Never understood why Potter (IIRC) let him go to Souths in the first place.

Off field issues Was why.

**_As for Moses will be gone this week I'm told, you will get an idea today when teams are named today if he will play this week or not though._**

Also at the end of game yesterday he was asked "which dressing room are you going to" Moses replied "I have no idea" poor form from Moses on that one.

Personally I feel he shouldn't be let go. Talks that moeroa is the player parra are only willing to swap or give a financial compensation and that's not enough in my opinion

Thanks

This is the first time weve had ANY semblance of leverage over Isaac Moses..weve got something that HE wants.
So I sincerely hope we use it well..
EG…deliver us Ted & Woods by the end of this week so we can plan moving forward, and u can move the speed bump to the eels

NRL won't sign off on that. request have been made in the past and knocked back.

NOT so fast, Mitch.

Wests Tigers named Mitchell Moses for Sunday’s clash with Canterbury as the club emphatically blocked the star player a mid-season release to Parramatta.

And The Daily Telegraph has learned they will only release Moses from his 2017 contract should they find a “goalkicking five-eighth’’ to replace him.

Coach Ivan Cleary passed on that very message to Moses during a meeting on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old is understood to be more than prepared to honour his Tigers deal before linking with the blue and golds next year.

Moses left Concord Oval just after 2.30pm and looked in good spirits.
\
\
Moses was told on Tuesday he will not be released. .
There is every chance he will combine with good mate Luke Brooks against Canterbury on Sunday, with the halfback named in the No. 21 jersey.

Cleary has the individual power to release Moses, but club officials believe he will consult the board over such a significant decision.

Wests Tigers held a board meeting on Tuesday night where the Moses issue was briefly discussed.
\
\
One well-placed source said: “Who weakens their own club to strengthen a rival club?

“If they let him go, the club has all but written off their season.”

Parramatta are understood to have an “action plan” ready should Moses be granted an immediate release.

Coach Brad Arthur told The Daily Telegraph: “It’s with the Tigers. And I’m happy with my halves, they did a good job on the weekend.’’
\
\
Moses will link with Parramatta next season.
The Tigers could save several hundred thousand dollars by releasing Moses early — extra money the club could throw at off-contract stars Aaron Woods and James Tedesco.

Talk of luring unwanted Broncos playmaker Benji Marshall back to the Tigers for a fairytale final swan song will not happen.

The like-for-like Moses replacement does not necessarily have to come from Parramatta.

Cleary will have the final say on Moses, but powerbrokers believe the youngster has a contract and should complete the season as a Tiger.
\
\
They don’t have too many replacement options with Jack Littlejohn, Jordan Rankin and Justin Hunt the halves options should Moses walk.

One insider said: “You would think Mitch would want to finish the year playing with all his mates. He doesn’t look unhappy on the field and is playing strongly.”

Club officials privately fear missing the finals to an equally-ranked Parramatta side boosted by Moses’ midyear inclusion.

The 14th-placed Tigers are competing with the 10th-placed Eels among the sides striving to sneak into the top eight.
\
\
Moses’ teammates expected him to aim up against the Bulldogs, just as he had done all season. There had been no discussion about him bailing on them after seven rounds.

“He’s a class player, he competes on every play, and that’s the kind of people you want on your team and play next to,’’ forward Josh Aloiai said.

“Mitch trains really hard, he competes at training and been doing it in the games as well, so that’s all we can ask from him.

“He’s still playing with commitment, and it’s not about looking forward too far, and wherever he’s playing that week, he’ll commit and give his best, and that’s what he’s doing.’’

Forward Suauso Sue added: “He’s at training today and doing review with us, so hopefully he plays this week.’’

Since the drama erupted, when the Tigers pulled Moses’ offer, the star No. 6 has been instrumental in his side’s upset win over North Queensland in round six and last Sunday’s narrow loss to Parramatta.
