Mitchell Pearce

If Roosters get Cronk AND they keep Pearce, surely it would be the first time in history (since the beginning of State of Origin in 1980) that both NSW and QLD Origin halfbacks were in the same club.

That is ridiculous.

One upside, Cronk would get a look at two of the biggest cheating clubs in the NRL, so one day might be able to tell us which one cheats more.

Haha

After he finishes playing maybe Cronk can get a job at the NRL investigating cap routing

He would be an expert in this field, lots of inside information

Oh please…. We weren't good enough for Tedesco either several times... We only get what's left... WAKE UP!

Well good for you.

I am entitled to an opinion.

OR

Have I got too think like you?

We have made the finals 3 times in 18 years….we dont have the luxury of being precious, being picky

Was reminded today the Roosters players got all narky when Farah was rumoured to be going there & Friend was looking like he was on the outer…I really cant see Cronk fitting in there...interesting times especially if Pearce remains

Pearce and Cronk NO THANKS. But is Thurston could be lured away from the cows….

You're dreamin, me thinks. Thurston will finish his career at the Cowboys.

On Pearce, I'm pretty sure he said he never really wanted to play for the Tigers because of the shadow of his father - wanted to forge his own path or something, so I can't see him ever coming here, try as we might.

I would agree with this line of thinking early on in his career but after 280 odd NRL games,17 SOO games and at 28 yrs old he is no longer in his fathers shadow.

Pearce perennial underachiever no thanks….which is why the Roosters are looking elsewhere

Sorry mate that's just rubbish… This all wouldn't be happening if Cronk stayed in Melbourne
I'd love him here... We should be looking at signing him if he's on the outer

Hmm..This wouldn't be happening if the Rorters were happy with Pearce..Admittedly Pearce is better than what we have, if we take him then we have the problem of what to do with Brooks who we signed for 2 years….I suppose the Rorters could sign Brooks up too.

I was never in favour of Brooks getting about $450K a season for 2 years, give him $350K for one and either performs or out. Farah could be on about $450K this year and is twice the half back that Luke and Mitch will ever be judging at this stage. Now about Pearce - we love his baggage, keeps the place interesting. I don't think he has a bad record in treating the ladies that is the most important thing. I was most impressed that when drunk he still obeyed the owner of that unit and left when requested. If the dog did not put a complaint in they no harm done.

Agreed for 450K Farah trumps Brooks by far. Farah does NOT Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon Mitchell as a halfback, ROfL.

Hope Brooks does come good, with a decent structure and a good 5/8 he should start to perform. He was able to put points on the board with Marshall and Austin so lets see what happens with Reynolds.

Ok Weighing in to this thread, some comments are a little crazy.

**I think the Dogs will make a play for Pearce** and that will free up the Roosters to make a play for Cronk. I think we should then look at Napa, JWH or anyone we want to lift from the Roosters.

yes that comment is a little crazy .

Unless youve been in a coma for the last 6 months you'd be aware that the Dogs have no cap room

Thank you, but two things about the dogs:
1\. Cap problems will NOT stop them. Hey they signed Foran and Woods knowing that they were way over the cap.
2\. They need a good halfback. Everyone looking at their team has to be going "WHO IS THE HALFBACK". Moses Mbye has a big "fire me" target on his back and will be gone.

I think only their disarray at the moment is stopping them from solving their halfback problem.

Heard this this morning;

Mitchell Pearce has no shortage of NRL clubs lining up to sign him with Manly, Newcastle, Cronulla and Wests Tigers reportedly all keen on the disgruntled Sydney Roosters halfback….............

https://wwos.nine.com.au/2017/10/26/07/11/nrl-clubs-lining-up-for-disgruntled-sydney-roosters-halfback-mitchell-pearce?ocid=social-wwos

Why Manly? How does Mitchell fit in there? Unless they are thinking Mitchell or DCE moving to 5/8 I don't get it. Surely DCE wants to stay halfback as his main hopes of playing Origin (or Maybe Thurston will retire….??).

Ok Cronulla are known to want Maloney out. So Pearce for Maloney makes sense, Maloney goes to Knights or elsewhere?? But I can't see Cronulla getting their cap together unless more of their forwards retire.

Pearce and Foran are best friends bet they would love to play together - nothing would surprise me anymore.

Blake Green is supposedly a done deal to the Warriors

Manly makes sense in the fact that Pearce could easily be lured to the Northern Beaches, but partnering with DCE wouldn't be the best fit. They both are very similar sort of players, both halfbacks which main talent is in their running game. I don't think it would work.

Pearce would be great for us but then we would have a sizeable chunk of our salary cap tied up in players not playing in their best position. I'd rather see Pearce go to another club, force a quality back rower or outside back out and then we snare that player up.

Agreed…maybe he's grown up and a return to good old Leichhardt Oval is what he needs :supporter:

Well he is pretty dumb isn't he - his father never played for Wests Tigers.

It's nice to dream guys, but if Pearce does leave the Roosters, I suspect it will be for Manly.

Maybe Ivan being our coach could make a difference , Ivan has signed some good players since he arrived , I don't think ,Matalino , Packer , Reynolds. Would be with us if Taylor was still coach , ET may not have stayed , Ivan could snag him you never know

If Manly signs Pearce you would think Joel Thompson won’t be heading there. One of the best edge forwards in the comp in my view. I’d be making enquiries.

if he is leaving because he wants to be the main man in the team, then manly isn’t the answer. If he does want to run a team then tigers or knights would be his best option.
