Moltzen Staying Or Going

Humphreys should learn to keep hi mouth shut - he is now quoted as saying he will abide by the referees decision on this matter - if Schubert follows the ethical path rather than the legal path Moltzen will go to the whining sooks and because Humph says that he will agree the legal door will be closed unless he does another amazing triple backflip with pike.

Why would Schubert follow "the ethical path rather than the legal path"??? His only job is to find out who Moltzen is contractually bound to play for. Given that, what else do you expect Humphreys to say?

I think everyone is right when it comes to the Dragons jumping the gun and announcing Tim signed with them without release….. Could this be the reason the Tigers waited to announce Blair's signing as they waited for both parties to agree to the signing and release of him to be finalized?

With Blair there was no release, he was off-contract. However, I think given whats happened the last couple weeks, in hindsight, I think the Tigers would have been going over everything with a fine tooth come to make sure the contract was 100% legit

I agree that Schubert will probably only look at the legal aspect but i would expect Humphreys to say nothing until the decision is made - Doust hasn't said a word - if the unexpected happens Humpty either has to accept it or made to look the fool again when he does a backflip.

If Humphrey's does another backflip he will be selected for 2012 Olympic Gymnastics Squad

Even if Humphreys said nothing he hardly has a lot of choice. If Schubert decides in the Dragons favour, what realistically are his options?

Just on the Channel 7 news this morning, they said that the Dragons might be making a play for Todd Carney as it appears likely that Moltzen will be staying…

IT is the insult that will anger every Dragons fan - but Tim Moltzen won't buckle.

Moltzen's manager Martin Tauber yesterday claimed that it would be "crazy and intolerable" for the NRL to force the Wests Tigers utility to play for St George Illawarra next season.

After receiving additional information from both clubs at 4pm on Wednesday, NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert continues to investigate the fact Moltzen has signed contracts with both clubs.

Schubert is the man who will recommend where Moltzen plays next season, and he will announce his decision within days, possibly even today.

Tauber has told The Daily Telegraph that his client does not want to represent the famous Red V for the next three seasons.

After being in constant contact with his client, Tauber said: "Tim is anxious about this. He is a young man, he's only 22, and he is concerned about his playing future.

"He wants to stay at Wests Tigers, without question. He has a lot of friends there. Hopefully they (NRL) take the kid's wishes into consideration."

Asked what Moltzen's reaction would be if he was pushed to the Dragons, Tauber said: "That would be crazy. Intolerable.

"If it is Wests Tigers, then it's done and dusted. If it's St George Illawarra, then that is something we will have to consider, maybe an appeal.

"There's nothing more to say. We will just have to wait and see."

Saints officials privately question Tauber's comments because the accredited player manager guided his client to Saints in July.

The NRL is saying little until Schubert announces his recommendation.

Dragons chief executive Peter Doust was not commenting yesterday, while Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys did not return calls.

Former greats from both clubs have very contrasting views.

"He (Moltzen) signed the piece of paper, no one forced him to," former Saints grand final forward Brad Mackay said.

"For a time there, he wanted to play for the Dragons, then all of a sudden Wests Tigers want him back. He should honour his contract and play with the Dragons.

"If it's on compassionate grounds, that's different. But he shouldn't be allowed to walk away just because he changes his mind. The Dragons could use him. He's a good player."

Ex-Tigers champion Ben Elias fired back.

"I have a high regard for Peter Doust and his operations but why would you want a player who doesn't want to be at your club?" Elias said.

"You can't get value from someone who wants to be elsewhere. Tim's heart is at the Tigers and that's where he is happy."

This is becoming a real Circus and Moltzen is being depicted in the media as a spoilt brat and completed tosser.

I personally think Moltzen should honour his contact with St George after all he is a professional well paid NRL player. I wish I had the ability to play NRL and wear the famous Western Suburbs Jersey during my playing days.

With Simon Dwyer's injury it just shows you how quickly your career can be taken away with one incident.

No one person is bigger than the game or club.

Also if WT are going to sack Lui do it now so the offseason can commence with Miller at half back and not thrown in at the last minute. WT have a real shot at the title next year if we can keep our top team fit and healthy.

Tim has a legal contract, registered with the NRL, to play with the WT in 2012…simple as that....the Dragons don't have a legal contract, they have a letter of intent that had a pre-requisite of a release that was not given...so the Dragons without the release dont have a leg to stand on...they can't take Moltz or Tauber to court as they are not in control of the "release"....that's the legal side of this story!!
