Moltzen's fullback hopes given a boost

Moltz is champion player who should be named at halfback

Kul , I see there are no 2011 highlights there If Moltzen was showing that form many of us would not be saying anything . But he's not unfortunately and until he does he will continue to be compared unfavourably against Lui or Mackinnon

ahhh… those were the days. I think more than anything, this displays Moltzen was a very competant attacking FULLBACK 2 years ago (11 of those 14 plays were Fullback plays and only 1 displayed him as a quality 7)

I'd love to see him back to that form!!!

PS - Kul, how good were those White Jumpers back then?

Standard bile (and boring) thread as per usual. He had limited opportunities during the match.

I didn't see him dropping the ball and missing tackles. There were at least 10 players that need to have a good look at themselves before anyone starts questioning Moltzen.

I cant believe youve just shown this video and said this is why he should be halfback. When 90% of the video is him playing fullback or somewhere other than halfback. You shouldo f also noticed that a lot of his breaks was running off a bloke named lui.Your love for Moltzen makes me think you are tim moltzens brother or lui has slept with your missus.

he's wasted at centre and McKinnon is our best fullback

dur

*waits for the next Moltzen hater to contrive some other excuse to keep him out of the 7

Leo Dynevor did not help his case with an awful game on Saturday.

Certainly agree Gary. Their running games and game smarts are eerily similar
I just hope Lui doesn’t get lumped with the “next Leo Dynevor” tag as it could really set his overall game back a few days

I'm with you Gary. There are some jokers on here who must have been watching a different game to me. Amazing how no one is on here bagging out Shirnack or even Gibbs. They had absolute shockers. But lets blame the bloke who is playing out of position.

Correct.

The Moltzen bashing is getting to stupid levels. He didn't do much but he didn't get many chances.

out of position, scared and well… doesn't deserve a spot in the 17.
With Lote back next week, Brown to centre and Lote outside him for me.

I called for Tim to go into the centres and I not sure he will be unsuited to the role as time goes by.

He isnt terrible IMO, he is just down on confidence as we have seen no matter where he has played since his return.

Let's not eat our own, however Moltz may occupy that spot on the bench when Lote comes back as Mitch brown has been performing very well when ever he is on the park.

kul you are suffering a bad case of moltzenitis if you love him so much ask him to hold his balls for him As he practices for bret.

Boy oh boy Moltzen cops it again, what about Shirnack & Gibbs & Lui they had great games didnt they? no one goes out there to have a bad game but there was a lot worse then Moltzen on saturday night, & this is becoming like a Fitzhenry story. Give it a break.

I think moltzen will be on the interchange bench next week. Do we know if tuqiri is playing next week because apparently he comes back next week but is he going to play?

Only problem I have with Moltzen is that he is, as of right now, not the #1 choice at Halfback, 5/8 or Fullback- the 3 spots he can play well.

Using him at centre is almost wasting a position & player.

For mine, Moltzen WAS the #1 halfback at the club. Then he got shifted to fullback & Lui came in. Lui struggled early, but now I see him being a much bigger factor in each game & might finally prove a good foil to both Benji & Farah.

Moltzen as a Fullback was always a 'less than perfect' position match- simply because he is NOT good at tacking kicks under pressure. His defence is ok (without being good) & his positional play is fine. In attack Moltzen really excels given space & freedom. But attack is, alas, only half the game. McKinnon is playing MUCh better this year & is really securing that Fullback position as his own. Strong in both attack & defence, while pretty safe under pressure with the ball in the air- hard to knock McKinnon this season.

So Moltzen finds himself warming the centre position until Lawrence comes back. But in the centres he doesn't have the room to play like he does at fullback, doesn't have the responsibility of providing a foil to Farah/Marshall he had at halfback, his front on defence (which is ok) is exploited by bigger, stronger men against him & he's still a liability with the ball in the air.

In other words- Moltzen isn't a First Grade Centre.

And with Lui, Mrshall & McKinnon ahead of him in his 3 best positions, is Moltzen's wage vs the Salary Cap prohibitive?

He's a good player without a position for this club. It's probably in both the club (financially) & Moltzen's (career opportunity) best interest if they part after this season.

Who has been the worst player on the field the last 2 weeks….. ROBERT LUI
Where is the thread calling for his head?
Bumbling in attack and hopeless in defence!
For all you guys who think Moltzen is lacking ticker have a close look at Lui's pitiful clutching at air defence.
Put Moltzen back at half and get rid of the speedbump.

CKTIGER is right , Lui has been our worst player the last two games, & his clutching defence has been bad. Maybe put Lotti on the wing & move Brown into the centeres & Give Moltzen a run @ half & bring Lui off the bench or a run in reserve grade.
