Moltzen's fullback hopes given a boost

Hopefully with time at FB he can get back to the form he was in before he did his knee, IMO he has to much ability as a play maker and lacks the defensive ability to be at centre instead of FB

However the 22-year-old sees himself as a No.1 and, despite having looked at what's on offer from other clubs, he's in no hurry to leave.

Then show your love for the spot, and attack the fruggin football !

Moltzen is still recovering from a serious knee injury. All of the comments suggesting how 'weak' he seems and how he is 'lacking in confidence' need only connect those thoughts with the fact that he is RECOVERING FROM A SERIOUS KNEE INJURY.

I know we are impatient on here and I know we have a very limited short term memory, but it takes a long time for players to recover from injury. Anybody remember Marshall's form when he finally recovered from all the shoulder injuries he had?

Everyone here would agree that Moltzen is likely to get better as the season goes on, so lets see what happens for the rest of this season and judge at the end.

Do people really think he had a bad game against St george?

Anyone who seriously thinks he's physically weak or won't put his body on the line please run out in his place next week and get hammered by fully fit 110kg first grade footballers.
If you can't make it to the game turn up at the next training session and take his place in the defensive drills tackling Woods , Fifita , Galloway etc
Question his ability ok.
Saying he lacks courage after coming back and playing top grade football after major surgery?
It's about time some people woke up to themselves.

I think he has plenty of ability actually. However he has never put his body on the line playing fullback before or after injury.

People here seem to have very short memories
Moltz is champion player who should be named at halfback

I cant believe youve just shown this video and said this is why he should be halfback. When 90% of the video is him playing fullback or somewhere other than halfback. You shouldo f also noticed that a lot of his breaks was running off a bloke named lui.Your love for Moltzen makes me think you are tim moltzens brother or lui has slept with your missus.

funniest thing i've read all night :roll

*waits for the next Moltzen hater to contrive some other excuse to keep him out of the 7

'Moltzen haters don't have to contrive any excuse to keep pretty boy Tim out of the 7 coz as long as Lui is fit he'll be alwayz ahead of Moltzen…learn to love it...i realy can see a Moltzen fan pulling a Tonya Harding on Lui soon...for any1 who doesn't get that refrence think Monica Seles

Can we now see the video of him catching bombs and defending the line lets have full video disclosure waiting in anticipation no use seeing 50% of the equation as the video has provided only part of what a fullback does.

This mind set that good attacking players make good fullbacks is far from the truth… Look at Coote and Gardner at the Sharks. These 2 are great attacking players on a par with the likes of Moltzen, but all 3 have no idea how to defend at the back. Fullback is a specialist DEFENSIVE position!!!

I feel the club is making a big mistake by not entering the Player Market for a suitable Fullback, considering one of the best Fullbacks in the Comp is currently on the Market...

Coote is a real goer played well last night and is what a fullback should be . I"m getting the feeling that the No1 will become Sheens new 1/2 problem that went on for years & years

I reckon… I'd have Boyd in a heartbeat.

Lachlan Coote is penrith's best option at the club and he is a very good player (just been injured lately). How can you possibly determine that if you are a good attacking player, you can't crack FB. Under that justification, we have nobody that can play fullback in our whole team because I don't believe any options would fulfil your "defence" requirements. Moltzen, Brown, Benji….none of em have outstanding defence.

The problem with going after Boyd is that he wants to either:
a) follow bennett
b) go home to QLD

So we can either, try and sign Bennett and lure him out of knights deal....or relocate to QLD. Let's be realistic

Having played fullback for most of my footballing life can tell that the things that are important as a fullback are mainly defensive and positional You need to be able to see things happening before they happen literally. Attack is important but if you can't do the others very well your not going to make it . And the other thing you have to be able to put your body on the line without even thinking twice about it Watto has it exactly right . I think getting a specialist fullback is more important that getting Blair .

100% right… We DONT have any options outside of McKinnon!!! Unless we start having a forward pack that can churn out meters through the middle up the field, Moltzen/Brown/Benji/Mullaney will all fail...

We need to enter the playing market ASAP, and I feel this is more of a priority than persuing Blairs signature. (I'd love to have Blair also) As to the theory on Boyd, he is open to offers???

Gardner may be small but he puts his body on the line, pretty tough little player.

Fullbacks off contract at the end of this year . Here is a bit of an idea who is out there .May have missed a few but here goes
Lance Hohaia
Darius Boyd
David Milne
Luke Capewell
Dale Copley
Marshall Chalk
William Zillman
Michael Robertson
Wes Naiqama (not specialist)
Shannon Gallant
Shannon Mc Donnell
A few there are worth a second look Boyd , Copley, Robertson and Zillman

Hohaia is off the ESL.

Out of that list I'd take on Milne, Copley or Robertson.

Have you seen the Robert Lui highlight reel?
No?
It doesn't exist because there are not enough highlights to run for more than 10 seconds.
If you want to see some real vision of him sit in on ANY other teams preparation for a game against the Tigers and they will be showing videos highlighting his many weaknesses.

Wes Naiquama has been killing it,would be farly cheap too as he has no offers, another Fijian too so he will fit in.
