Tbf people seem to confuse the bloke for being overpaid with a guy being terrible at footy. Mbye is a perfectly serviceable NRL player who covers multiple positions off the bench or in an injury crisis.

The player I see each week drops balls, throws dud passes, misses tackles, and won't run the ball because he is too much of a cat.

Look I would live him gone but really what’s the point in letting him go if we have no one to replace him?

If the Dragons want us to pay most of the cash we should get something in return.

At this stage no one worthy of 300k+ is coming our way next year and we will be without BJ and potentially JTJ but make a teams squad sitting a fraction above us better.

Hope we get something lined up.

We can buy a mannequin. About as effective.

I cannot believe the Mbye criticism that gets posted on this forum do you expect a player that has been stripped of his captaincy & is not even in the leadership group anymore has the fullback position that he was training for all off-season suddenly taken away from him & put on the bench to whole heartedly perform for the coach I don’t think so he will lift & play well for the dragons.

Yes, it is called professionalism. Comes with signing a contract worth 800k per annum. If he doesn't like where he is, he is free to retire

There's reasons for this....

Did you look at the meaning of earning before you posted that?

Ask yourself why he was stripped of those things. If he was doing those jobs at even a satisfactory level, he’d still be doing them.

I expect him to put in big time if he wears our jumper.

I expect him to put in big time x 10 seeing he is robbing us of 800k+ every year.

He could not come up with a relevant excuse that would be viable.

yes! best news ever. cut him 20 hours/ week so he can get disasster payment

He’s been a disaster every hour since he signed . The laziest least passionate player ever to throw a tigers jumper on in my opinion

I think it's beyond opinion and should be considered fact...

The guy is uninspiring....

Heard he's good with his money though, drives an old Mitsubishi Triton.

Pokies?

Mbye just needs to be told that he won't be playing first grade next season,at all, just like the Panthers did with Mansour. This will significantly drop his value for 2022 and damage his chances of getting another contract. He will find another club, he will adjust his value and he will be gone by next season, just like Mansour.

it is,what I suggested the club did with Talau last year in order to get JAC, if he knew he was not playing first grade for WT he may well have headed to Melbourne

Still can't for the life of me understand why we didn't agree to swap Talau for Fox or even Nofo for Fox.

I know hindsight is wonderful but far out

Far out what? Not much the club could do if Talau didn’t want to go. And at the end of the day, JAC didn’t want to come here anyway, so what can you do?

At one point Melb were willing to release him to the Tigers and he was all for it till Tigers weren't willing to send Talau or Nofo the other way.

Is this confirmed ? Can anyone prove this ?

He wasn’t a dud signing. He was signed on dud money.

If it's on dud money, it's a dud signing.

This year is gone, so hopefully the club can frontload whatever we need to pay him next year so they have a clean slate.

It's a fair point. He is a pretty good bench utility. We are paying him to be our marquee player and that is why it doesn't work.

That depends on your definition of a dud signing. The cost is one half, and performance the other. When the two don't equal each other you could say that player was a dud signing (poor value). The Mbye signing fails on both counts, although for the apparent lack of effort he puts in I'd go one step further and say he is a complete dud signing, walking along the edge of Adam Blair territory.
