It would be reckless in the extreme to pick Mbye this week and risk him picking up any sort of injury that may put the dragons off.

Let him go now. Why keep him. Cini is as serviceable as Mbye

Can he play 9?

*George Burgess will make his NRL comeback with the Dragons next season on a two-year deal as negotiations continue around Wests Tigers utility Moses Mbye joining him in the Red V.*

*Mbye meanwhile is expected to eventually join Anthony Griffin's squad with an early release from his Tigers contract, though that remains contingent on talks between the two clubs.*

*His lucrative salary for next season has the Tigers well aware they will be required to contribute freight to release him, with a split of around $400,000 paid by each club likely to seal the deal.*

*The Dragons have made an out-and-out utility of Mbye's ilk a priority in their recruitment as Griffin continues to shape his long-term roster.*

I really hope we never get Griffin as a coach.
But I really want to thank him for taking Mbye off us.

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that Moses Mbye has been granted a release from the final year of his playing contract and will depart the club at the end of the 2021 season.

Mbye joined Wests Tigers from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs midway through the 2018 season and has played a total of 61 matches since for the club, including 32 as captain throughout the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

In his time with Wests Tigers, the 27-year-old achieved representative honours — becoming just the second player at the time in club history to feature for Queensland State of Origin — while he also celebrated his 150th NRL game earlier this year against South Sydney at Leichhardt Oval.

Mbye has been granted a release from the final year of his contract to take up a long-term deal with another NRL club from the start of the 2022 campaign.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe thanked Moses for his commitment to the club and wished he, his partner Madeleine, and his children all the best for the future.

“On behalf of all at the club, I’d like to thank Moses for his efforts at Wests Tigers and extend our thanks to him for his service to the club.

“In particular, I’d like to recognise Moses’ achievements as the 21st player to captain Wests Tigers and commend him on the way he carried himself, both on and off the field, while wearing the Wests Tigers jersey.

“Moses has shown himself to be a versatile and talented player right throughout his career and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
