Have you become the coach now lol

What's the alternative?

Based on our recruitment I would agree that's our spine. But I don't think it's set in stone. I don't think any player should be guaranteed any position, especially not at a club that hasn't played finals in many many years. So if a player like Moylan comes along you pick up and re-arrange your spine. At the end of the day it's about winning games.

If we sign Moylan, we most likely miss out on Cleary in a couple of years. So if it's a choice, who do you choose?

That is completely wrong.

Is it? You don't think Gus will move heaven and earth if Moylan leaves?

Gus will buy Brooks in 2 years time

He'll do that regardless of where Moylan goes, but we'll have cap space to make things interesting. If Moylan goes anywhere (which is looking likely) I hope it's us.

There will be a queue of clubs lining up to sign N Cleary . Money won't be his issue . Deciding who wants to play with & be coached by will be the determining factor . In that respect we should be extending Ivan's contract well before it's due . Clubs like the Bulldogs have shown in the past that they're not shy in signing coaches well in advance of their contract finishing . The carrot of getting a package deal of the Clearys is very attractive .

Everyone is assuming Cleary wants to play under his father. It could as equally be a turn off.

So let me get this straight..in one breath you're saying we shouldn't go after Moylan because it will hurt our chances of getting Cleary, then in the next stating that Cleary might be turned off playing for his father? So we should avoid going after an excellent player so that in two years we may have the opportunity to go after a player who might be turned off playing for us because his father is coach. Makes sense.

Bird in the hand is worth two in the bush..If Moylan did come onto the market you would have to make a play for him. Anything can happen in two years, young Cleary junior could get a serious injury, have a massive form slump, who knows

Hmm… live in manly or live in penrith... Tough decision

Well cheaper rent in Penrith by far.

But why do footballers have to live in the suburbs where they work? Lots of Sydney-siders don't.

Because Brookvale is a hard to get to unless you live nearby. Traveling from Penrith everyday would get tiresome very quickly.

As someone else noted, Nathan Cleary travels from Newport to Penrith.

Just because 1 person does it does not mean it is suitable for everyone. As someone who had to travel there for a couple of years and not living in the area it wears you down. Public transport is by bus and driving to and from you are met with heaps of traffic. Couldn't wait to get a job elsewhere.

Moylan isn't coming. The jury is out on Cleary.

I seen an interview with Nathan, he said he would like to be coached by his dad, but it won't be at penrith.
We should have been making our intentions clear after that interview.

Moylan isn't coming. The jury is out on Cleary.

Yet you are happy with Brooks who has played twice as many games as Cleary and shown way less

I see now JT is gone, Brooks has become your new punching bag.

The jury is out on Cleary?? Wow, that's one of your all time best. We have brooks so we should not talk to any other half until Brooks retires lol

You should comprehend what you are reading before going off early. I was saying the jury is out on whether or not we'd be able to sign him.

I reckon they would be doing that around the dinner table.

Exactly !

The fact we signed Brooks for 2 years and Nathan has two years to go is too much of a coincidence fof me.. Nathan will come here i think.

Brooks was always going to get a short contract.

I see now JT is gone, Brooks has become your new punching bag.

JT desrved all the crap, and Brooks has had over 80 NRL games and still can't manage a repeat set, he has had a charmed run and deserves to start in reggies.
No other team gives a player 90 odd games to come good, I wish Brooks would come good, but he has used up his excuses and deserves to at least be dropped.
We have options now so dropping him will be easy, and may just wake him up, even Gus said that boy needs to sit down in the off season and decide if he wants to be an NRL player.
I bagged JT because he was holding us back, Brooks is now holding us back, I just want a top 8 team to support, and Brooks is a big reason why we are not.
