**Also complicating the pursuit of Moylan is the fact he has a $250,000-a-year registered third-party deal in place that is unlikely to be transferred to another club.**
I don't get it.
They have a registered TPA, that "is unlikely to be transferred to another club"? But I thought TPAs were not allowed to be associated with the clubs? That they were sorted out independently from the clubs? I know that it's bs, but I thought that was the rules they were at least pretending to follow. So how can they say that a TPA is unlikely to be transferred to another club?

Clubs are allowed up to 600k in TPA's that sit outside of the salary cap paid by Club affiliated sponsors..
If the sponsor is tipping in 250k of Moylan's salary to play for the Panthers ..they would not have to continue that at another Club…

Geo how does that transfer fee sit with the NRL?

As I said before I don't belive transfer fees exist between NRL Clubs…reading the smh article it states that the fee is not included in the Cap but the paying Club has to pay a 50% loading to the NRL....first i have heard of this...i dont kniw of any cases in recent times this has happened..will check further...
Normally if a Club wants to move a player on it has to pick up some of the freight for the new Club ie Robbie Farah..if the player wants the relaase ie Moses the Club doesn't pay anything of the new contract...
Given our recent history of letting players go Austin Taupau etc ..we should be rolling in transfer fees...lol

**There had been talk Cronulla would offload James Maloney to lure Moylan to the club, but Cronulla believe they can afford to have both Moylan and Maloney at the club next year despite having also signed Josh Dugan on a lucrative deal.**
And Sharks think they can keep Maloney, buy big on Dugan (after letting Bird go), but then still splurge on Moylan for near $1m? How can we compete with teams that cheat so brazenly? Broncos, Roosters, Storm, now Sharks… amazing Eels got into the top four with these cheaters, but of course Eels were busted for cheating only last year so...

Similar to the B4 with us.
@ said:I don't see where he fits into our side, based on players already on the books long-term.
He is an upgrade on our current playmakers though, and personally I would play him at 5/8, and shift Reynolds at hooker. Grub would be like a pig in mud playing in the middle.
But then again if Brooks continues his current form, he could be the guy to make way.
Between Brooks, Reynolds, Tui, Benji and possibly Moylan … that's alot of potential playmakers. You couldn't possibly keep them all in the 17 each week, which means we have spent big money on someone to play reggies.

Absolutely. And then I hope Moylan signs somewhere else and a week later Dylan Edwards does his ACL and they are left without a recognised fullback.

Booooooo…very poor form wishing injury on players no matter who they are...I'm surprised..
Edwards is a good kid...would even take him as a FB here in a heartbeat,,

Don't think we have Abe.
Brooks, Reynolds, Tui and Liddle are the spine, Benji is the utility on the bench.
That leaves Moylan who we have not paid big or little money for.
Al good - none of them in Reggies.

With Reynolds handling the ball at almost every PTB, the chances of a major stuff up or a brain explosion are multiplied to a frightening level
Keep him away from D , please.
