Kevin Walters or Todd Payten will do me . Payten has been unreal for 1st year of coach , considering he lost Sironen and Korribete to 1st grade, that would of unsettled the team and still coached the team to premiership glory is a massive achievement.

Payten isn't ready yet.
and with so many players in the top 25 and in the lower grades that he would have played and trained with we'd have a Nathan Brown/Dragons type situation at some point.

Totally agree with that maybe in like 5-6years when a lot of the players in the tigers now are retired

You have to laugh at all the sudden hysteria over Payten. Talk about piling on to the bandwagon. Quite shameless really

That's what I don't understand, people don't want Brown due to his record at the dragons but they're happy to push Paytens barrow and let history repeat itself.

So are you saying get rid of payten and paul fletcher to😵r just the other three.

Would be a great assistant coach for first grade. NYC team had the the best defense in the comp. Could be a defensive coach.

Skando has to go as well seeing as how people want a good clean out.

Agreed, Brown's weakness at St George was that he was one of the boys. The Boys Club mentality is what we are trying to get rid of, and people want to achieve this by appointing one of the boys as coach.

I can understand what you're saying, but I don't think history would repeat itself here. Payten and Brown are very different people. Brown was a bit of a surfie wag, who came through the juniors and played with the Dragons his whole career. Payten has had experience at several different clubs, he is more composed than Brown has ever been and is very well respected at WT. He has been mentored into the coaching role by Sheens, who can probably be credited with giving Bellamy, Stuart and Meninga some coaching advice early in their careers, also  Whilst I wouldn't have Payten as a head coach right now, I reckon he would make a great assistant coach next year to someone like Folkes perhaps?

Theres no need to rush Payten. He even said after the game that he's learnt things about the game this yr that he didn't know previously. He's clearly still in the developmental stage. Give him another 12 months as 20's coach, promote him to an assistant's role in 2014, and from there he can be groomed as a potential successor to whoever gets appointed in the next couple weeks. Got to remember Toddy is still only in his early 30's. His time will come, he has plenty of it

He really shouldn't be coaching his mates either, has trouble written all over it. Will be interesting to see where he's at as a coach in two or three years time. People often make out that lengthy apprenticeships have to be served before going on to being a first grade coach, but Payten had a remarkable insight into the game as a player, so we may see him as a FG coach (not necessarily at WT,) sooner rather than later if he develops at a rapid rate.

Yep. No way should he coach people he played with last year. No Way. Payto was one of the boys. Went for beers with them, went to the cricket with them etc. Thats fine by the way, but the majority of these boys will have to be gone before Payten can take over. Paytens probably answered to Benji/Robbie for years and years, would be hard for it to be vice versa.

I also agree we don't need one of the boys types. Walters and Brown could be these types.

Why has Daniel Anderson's name not even come up?
