I must admit im a little dissapointed the lack of stars in the side.
We lost Sirro from last year's 9s. Was that worth it?

@innsaneink said:So the nines are a mickey mouse tournament, yep, it probably is.
Yet Ive heard dozens upon dozens of times for the last 11 years how we are still reigning sevens champs …so what is it people??
@innsaneink said:Yeh I guess to be honest Im in two minds of this, see both sides, yes it is a mickey mouse tournament, but it sure as hell aint monopoly money up for grabs
I wonder if we'll take the trials seriously?
No doubt we'll see an injury or three there
@cktiger said:Good $$$ on offer but I can't remember who won last year- nonplussed either way we went.
@weststigers said:@pHyR3 said:@weststigers said:@innsaneink said:Why do we support the club?
To watch them play and win games in competituions against the others.
Never sits well with me not taking anything youre involved in seriously…so much for proffesionalism
Agree wholeheartedly.
If the players are going to get injured, then they would have been injured anyway, so I don't buy that excuse. I've said it before, the Nines is less demanding physically and I would say there is LESS risk of injury in this format. Why do you think 40 year olds like Fittler, Nagas and Menzies were falling over themselves to play?
I can understand if players aren't 100% fit, you wouldn't risk them, but the team we are going to trot out on Saturday will be blasted off the park.
Disappointed to say the least.
**you can get injured walking down the road and you can break your kneecap in a non contact training session.**
maybe there's less risk in 9s, but it's sitll contact footy over 2 days so there's substantial risk. numerous players from all clubs were injured last year, i think penrith had 1 or 2 season enders. i'd really like that not to be moses, brooks or farah. perfectly fine not to take the chance imo, especially with our run of injuries lately.
so what if we get blasted off the park? hope our points difference doesnt take too much of a beating :unamused:
You've made my point for me.

If we have that attitude, we should pull our players out of trial games, City Country, Origin and their respective national sides as well because they might get injured not playing for the Tigers in the regular season. As it is we miss them for a couple of games during Origin regardless of injuries.
Don't get me wrong, I see your point, but if the tournament is being played, my opinion is we should play our best side. Otherwise, the NRL should just cancel the whole thing if it's not going to be taken seriously - either way, the fans will vote with their feet.
Let's hope we don't get any surprises in the trials…

Are Melbourne silly enough to play Cam Smith, South Greg Inglis? **Manly Cheery Evens**?
We have had the worst injury toll of any club the last 5 years and people want us to run out our stars in this 9s series.
Doesn't anyone care about trying to start a year for once at close to full strength. The good clubs are focusing on Round 1.
I could not even tell you who played in the 9s finals or semi finals last year.
@cochise said:7's were a mickey mouse comp, just like the 9's. Im looking forward to next weekend and will watch every match of the tournament but it is a novelty and a fun way to start the year and nothing more.

Well enjoy next weekend then because the tournament wont last long with clubs sending crap squads over.
