NINES TEAM...OFFICIAL

Come week one of the comp the nines will be fish and chip paper and would like to be pulling the Porsche out of the garage with no scratches on it.

Not fussed, might watch next week, depending on the times, but hoping to fly up for the Titans opener, else will definitely be watching it at home.

Basically, ho hum about the tournament, and would much rather watch Brooks run around the following week in a real game.

The other part of the porsche analogy is that we've just dropped in a brand new engine, clutch & gearbox.
Lets break it in gently for the first 500km's, iron the bugs out and make sure all the pressures and settings are right.
We've got a couple of short warmup races in late Feb and then Le Mans starts in March.

the best they could do given the circumstances.

our starting centres are named.
one starting winger is named and the other is still rehabbing.
obviously we have no fullbacks, unless you want to name macca.

brooks has another bs game to play so he was never going to play.
moses i would rather him be back training and adjusting to jt's new style.

as for the forwards,we have ava who was a consistent name in the 17 each week.we have brown who i think might go ok in this type of game.
sue was named and the rest of the backrow is crap anyway after reading everyones concerns with the backrow this year.
akauola had plenty of games in first grade last year with hopes he can go up another level this year.
2 hookers were named with one i believe will play some backrow this year with the new rule interpretations.

i don't see a whole lot of the younger guys each year,so for me i will enjoy that more than anything else.
really don't see what the problem is with the side named.

When you drop a disguised f-bomb in there it gets deleted. Next time you will receive a warning.

Why do we support the club?
To watch them play and win games in competituions against the others.
Never sits well with me not taking anything youre involved in seriously…so much for proffesionalism

Agree wholeheartedly.

If the players are going to get injured, then they would have been injured anyway, so I don't buy that excuse. I've said it before, the Nines is less demanding physically and I would say there is LESS risk of injury in this format. Why do you think 40 year olds like Fittler, Nagas and Menzies were falling over themselves to play?

I can understand if players aren't 100% fit, you wouldn't risk them, but the team we are going to trot out on Saturday will be blasted off the park.

Disappointed to say the least.

The amount of injuries that came out of the nines last yr says otherwise.

Not really. You'll get more injuries across 3-5 rounds of NRL. Plus there is 6 weeks to recover before the start of the season.

In any format of the game there will be injuries. A couple of high profile ones last year, but our whole side went down like flies in the season proper - can't really blame the Nines in our case.

Anyway, there is a clear divide in opinion on this and I can see both arguments. I like the 9's concept, so I feel we need to support it by putting a good side on the park. I don't think it's mickey mouse because there is money on the line - it is a genuine tournament. Others may not agree or care about the concept which is fine.

Personally, I think the All-Stars game needs to be scrapped…now that is a real mickey mouse game.

I think that's the case with everything though. It doesn't take long for people to forget once a comp finishes. I can't even remember who Souths played in last year's grand final.

Don't get me wrong, I agree we shouldn't be sending our best possible team to the nines, but the argument that it means nothing once it's over is relevant to everything (to varying degrees of course).

you can get injured walking down the road and you can break your kneecap in a non contact training session.

maybe there's less risk in 9s, but it's sitll contact footy over 2 days so there's substantial risk. numerous players from all clubs were injured last year, i think penrith had 1 or 2 season enders. i'd really like that not to be moses, brooks or farah. perfectly fine not to take the chance imo, especially with our run of injuries lately.

so what if we get blasted off the park? hope our points difference doesnt take too much of a beating :unamused:

People want star however they would be up in arms if a Tedesco, Farah, Moses or Brooks did an ACL playing in this format.

I think its a smart move from Taylor. The real good clubs - Easts, Souths, Canterbury, Melbourne, Manly - don't take this comp seriously.

They leave their best at home. I think the concept is a good platfrom for young guys outside of first grade.

I think Taylor has got it right.

SOME people would be up in arms. No doubt the same ones that are up in arms when the magpie goes missing, or theres not enough orange in the jersey, or the team announcment happens late on the wedsnesday.
I dont see the point in not playing your best if they are fit.

Thank God JT is resting most of our key players. No need to risk even more injury and team disruption for this nuffy tournament.

These 'nuffy' tournaments add value to the TV rights deal that ultimately pays the players and allows the game to get stronger.

This is the way sport in general is going. Shortened versions packed with excitement for the fans to draw crowds and ultimately bucks.

I know heaps of people that don't watch cricket, but will watch a Twenty 20 match for this reason. Tennis is doing the same with the Fast 4\. Rugby has done it for years, but they don't get crowds because they trot out 2nd string national teams and the fans hardly know the players.

League has this opportunity now and it will become more mainstream. Embrace the change because it's inevitable.

You've made my point for me.

If we have that attitude, we should pull our players out of trial games, City Country, Origin and their respective national sides as well because they might get injured not playing for the Tigers in the regular season. As it is we miss them for a couple of games during Origin regardless of injuries.

Don't get me wrong, I see your point, but if the tournament is being played, my opinion is we should play our best side. Otherwise, the NRL should just cancel the whole thing if it's not going to be taken seriously - either way, the fans will vote with their feet.

Let's hope we don't get any surprises in the trials…

Yeah but we still have to answer to our sponsors and should be trying to win as much prize money as possible to pay any outstanding debts we may owe to Suppliers ,Councils ,ex Players etc

I'm really surprised by how upset people are by this team, it not that bad a team. Even if it is as bad as everyone is making out we are in the middle of the preseason with an all new coaching staff that are trying to implement massive changes to the team. JT himself stated yesterday that he wishes he had another couple of months to get the team ready for the start of the season. The 9's are a distraction for the Wests Tigers in season 2015 and it will make no difference to anyone involved in the club if the side fails to win a single game. Our focus is rightly on moving into the trials and then onto the season proper, the 9's are a distraction to that.
