Santi is going to be a real bolter for the run on side come round 1 methinks

Throw him in your fantasy league sides guys , cheap as chips and will get some game time

Already there. Hoping he makes some decent coin.

From a non-Tigers POV how good did Jake Mamo look? Reminded me of Tedesco last yr. Another Metillitigger recruit if he's selected in round 1.

Heard he was training his backside off pre season, fingers crossed on him being in our starting 17 in 2015.

Fanuki was impressive also, looked the part with his sleeveless guernsey and pink skins.

I thought we lacked structure and guidance in attack, but defensively we were really impressive. Lawrence did not get much opportunity with the ball but in defense I thought he looked really good.

Raiders gave us a leg up and we capitalized which is good rugby league. Canberra have one of the best squads IMO so a win against them is great.

Kevin N was excellent, and I liked Santi and Funaki too.

If Pat played field position and stopped kicking we good have put on more points.

Idk how much of that you get in nines.

I think Kev will start round 1.

Look at these big headed Rorters on the tunnel :unamused: .

Burgess boost for Roosters as well as signing Willie Manu and fitting Blake Ferguson , Yeah Whatever :unamused: . They fit them all in .
From 2016 onwards though but still want a play at Foran as well

This is the Article

The name may be familiar but the Sydney Roosters believe NRL fans will have seen nothing quite like exciting recruit Joe Burgess.

No relation to South Sydney's title-winning siblings, the 20-year-old Wigan winger has been tipped to create the same buzz as the other Burgess boys when he arrives in 2016.

Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan reckoned Burgess' three-year deal was such big news that they did well to keep a lid on it considering it was finalised six months ago but not officially released until Friday.

"We did well to keep it quiet," he told AAP.

"He will be a force, I have no doubt.

"He will be 22 when he comes out, it's the right age - he will be a perfect fit.

"He is clearly the most outstanding back in England.

"It's a real coup to have him here for three years."

At 19, Burgess scored 23 tries in his first full English Super League season, including Wigan's only four-pointer in their grand final loss to St Helens in October.

He earned a Four Nations nod and turned 20 on the flight over but was a non-playing squad member.

O'Sullivan could not wait for NRL fans to see what Burgess could do in the tri-colours.

"Ever since I first saw him I went 'wow'," he said.

"I went over to England and watched him play - I have very high hopes for him.

"He will toughen up as he gets older but his speed, presence, athleticism and try scoring ability is already top shelf."

O'Sullivan said an NRL switch was not a hard sell after Burgess scored against the Roosters in the 2014 World Club Challenge clash in Sydney.

"He had such a good time at Coogee during the World Club Challenge, the place sold itself," he said.

"He knows the area and he is keen for a crack."

Burgess will be the latest high-profile Super League player to make the NRL switch.

Canberra will this season welcome Hull KR hooker Josh Hodgson after he featured in England's Four Nations squad that boasted another seven NRL-based players.

Good post…..Lawrence needs to make 46 line breaks 22 tackle busts score 18 tries and 68 try assists in the next game to get a pass....

That happens when you have inexperienced kids out there but yeah i agree .

Picked a bad day to move house. Caught parts of our game, impressed by Naiqama, Santi and Funaki. Canberra just ran around us in the first half, but I guess that'll be covered a bit more with 4 more blokes on the field.

Match report & highlights
Wests Tigers have come from behind to defeat the Canberra Raiders 16-10 in their first 2015 Auckland Nines match at Eden Park, Auckland.

Local junior Kyle Lovett was the star of the show — scoring two tries in the victory — which saw Jason Taylor's side come from 10-0 down against Ricky Stuart's men.

Despite Wests Tigers holding the early territorial advantage, it was the Raiders who crossed for the first points of the match. A sharp break from Sisa Waqa was finished off by Lachlan Croker next to the bonus-zone — giving Jack Ahearn a simple conversion to give the men from the nation's capital a 6-0 lead after just three minutes of play.

Another assist from Waqa extended the Raiders' lead moments later, with Ahearn finishing off a sideline move to extend the lead to 10-0 after four minutes.

After working back in to the match with some stiff defence, it was an unlikely try-scorer that got Wests Tigers on the scoreboard — front-rower Jack Buchanan crashing his way over after a sharp short ball from Manaia Cherrington close to the line.

Cherrington easily added the extras to reduce the margin to 10-6 at half-time.

Salesi Funaki threatened to put Wests Tigers in the lead shortly after the break with a strong run and offload, but his pass went to ground.

However, that gave Taylor's men strong field position to launch another attacking raid and they soon came up trumps. Some sharp footwork and clever passing from Samoa international Tim Simona created space for Lovett on the left edge to level the scores.

Lovett would grab a second not long after — this time after some more enterprising play involving Lamar Liolevave, Kevin Naiqama and Chris Lawrence — giving Wests Tigers a 16-10 lead following Pat Richards' successful conversion from out wide.

The Raiders would threaten to level the scores late, but thanks to some gritty defence, Wests Tigers were able to hold their line and hang on for a thrilling 16-10 victory — putting them second in the Hunua Pool behind the New Zealand Warriors.

Wests Tigers will take on the Gold Coast Titans at 4:15pm AEDT in their next match.
