Noffa and McQueen to start in ISP

Nofo is a Forum favourite and probably a great bloke, but can’t tackle to save his life, a stint in regs might help.

All over the SMH and Fox NRL sites now. McQueen in reggies is no surprise, but Noffa certainly is. Maybe it is due to a disciplinary action, not just that Ivan is unhappy with his defence. If so I wonder what he's done? Anyone know?
Well this will throw Tui into the mix and I suppose we'll all see if he's up to it at fullback or not.

I'm scratching my head.
We just signed this guy on a 4 year big dollar deal…..

heart and soul guy and he is in resos???

Easy mate…he needs to learn to defend better....if he does that he's straight back in the NRL squad...

Trouble is, anyone who watched him last season knows he needs to defend better. Presumably that would have been the focus for him for the off-season. Can only assume that not much improvement has been noted, and that raises the question as to whether improvement will ever come??

we speculate too much - just wait till the official team list is rolled out… I trust the coach.

yes nofa does have some problems, but the blokes inside him dont help his cause at all.

thats exactly how i see it….blokes inside are running in you have to follow!

I thought that was the issue but, then Kev moved to the left side and his defence improved dramatically. Its still not perfect but, its much better.

Nofa played injured for the best part of 20 rounds last year to help the team. What culture is being built?
Apparently training and trial form are the only grounds for selection, therefore expect Taylor, Twal, Sue and Marshall are all out of contention for round 1.
Unless there is another teachers pet criteria

MWZ & Thompson ahead of Nofo???

Not a chance… He is being punished for something!

Maybe his defence? I doubt Cleary would drop someone like Noff for no reason. Though Cleary has got to own his decisions. If we don't have enough go-forward against the Roosters, this ones on him.

Yep. I'd say IF Nofo has been demoted it would most probably be disciplinary, hopefully it is anyhow. Because if it is because of his defensive shortcomings then what the hell have Nofo and our defensive coaches been doing for the past 5 months. If he hasn't learnt by now he never will and that is a huge concern considering we have signed him up long-term.

Its not like he's dropped Mansour or Holmes.
He shouldn't be a walk up start every week, If he thinks he is then this must be the kick up the backside he needs.

Clearys no dope,
Nofa would have been picked in first grade if he was up to what Ivan expects,
previous Coaches would have let him be sloppy about some facets of playing( probably defence) simply because
They thought that they didn’t have anyone as good to replace him.

I’m glad that this has happened, with LoLo , whose been lazy and out of condition, for much of his time in the gameand With Nofa whose defence looks like cheesecloth at some times.
The best thing is he didn’t wait and wait for half a season for these blokes to be chopped, it’s a pity that there was none of that attitude here for the last few years
Some of these blokes have got away with crook attitudes towards hard work, for too long.
Looks like half an effort is no longer enough.
