Neil Diamond – Sweet Caroline

View attachment 20178
Thanks tiger - the memories keep flooding back - I was 12. My Mum got me a ticket to the 1969 GF Balmain vs Souffs. Mum's workmates drove me to the SCG - they were all Souffs supporters. We had seats in the Sheridan Stand. I learnt how to play Euchre that day and how to bet on goal kicks "2 bob he misses" During that day I had my radio on 2SM and Sweet Caroline was being played all day long. I was pretty happy that the Tigers had won and said goodbye to the people who drove me to the SCG cos they were heading back home to Green Valley (Sadleir) I was staying at my Nannas place in Bondi. I walked up to Oxford Street to get the 380 to Bondi. The bus arrived and I got on. I am 12. The conductor came thru and asked me for the fare to buy a ticket (would have been a zac back then) . Then an old bloke leaned over and said "You can't charge him, he supports The Premiers!" I was wearing my TIgers Jersey of course. So he didn't! I arrived safely at Campbell Parade BB. Nan & Pop were expecting me They took me out to the local Chinese Restaurant in Bondi Junction to celebrate. Later we sat down to watch the Club Show with Rex Mossop who interviewed the try scorer Sid Williams. He seemed a bit blurry and then I fell asleep. Sweet Caro line bump bump baa
