not a true reflection

Yeah was never confident. Was watching while on my phone while out. Stopped watching after the Twal “penalty” clear from this how the game was heading. Turned it off to save my phone battery. As with with the Easter Mon game I am comfortable in the fact that regardless of how we go this season its clear that Parra will not be winning the comp anytime soon.
I am extremely comfortable in saying we will win a comp again before they do. (Puts on tin hat)

You're spot on. Having reffed a fair bit I think you have to take into account the style teams play or are trying to play when you interpret the rules. You need to get out of the way and let *both* sides do that. Are they both up for a wrestle? Okay, let the game flow that way. Do they wanna throw it around and play fast? Less wrestle then. For example, Parra are a huge team and play physical footy. So the defending team need to be allowed to wrestle back, even a little bit, but it barely happened. Seyfarth being asked to roll away in the Lussick try is a classic example. Instead he allowed a lot of the wrestle to go their way, to the detriment of us, the smaller team.

The ref simply did not do his job fairly; in fact, if he interpreted it the way he did every time Parra played, I doubt many could beat them.

They still likely would have won the game yesterday anyway but the ref had a larger bearing on the outcome than he should have.

The tigers were ordinary yesterday but so was the referee. How blore's shirtgrab and siva's head high tackle received the same 10 minutes in the bin is a mystery to me- i suppose that's one of the anomalies of the sin bin use.

Lots of excuses, and the ref was bad'.

We have the third biggest pack in the comp, with Seyfarth , a young kid the only one with aggression and an offload.

Tamou, TT, and Walters are not first grade standard.

Our coach is soft, there appears to be no penalty for poor performances. The lack of grunt in defence, and attack is obvious,. It's time for Madge to lay down the law, -- play hard or play elswhere !
Schoolboy sides play with more determination then the Tigers. Take out Seyfarth and Brooks and you take out the only two players with a sting in the tackles.

Unfortunately as we all know, the club can only trade a player once their current contract expires or they can be traded our swapped? So it is not easy to “play hard or play elsewhere” threat mid season? Though maybe some are playing injured, who knows?
But I understand your point, in that, come contract time, the crap performances are remembered. Bit like BJ & Packer hopefully?

I’ll be shouted down here, but we lack creativity and speed in the halves/spine - and that includes Laurie.

Laurie has been safe as houses at the back and is growing defensively. But I’m just not yet convinced that he has the speed, play making and support play to be a long term top grade fullback. I certainly hope I’m wrong, but if I’m Madge, I’m going hard in the market for an elite fullback ASAP (I know not a huge amount available right now).

Honestly agree that we weren't far off.

Get rid of Walters, talau and Jimmy the jet and add Gildart, ken and Hastings in that side and we immediately look more threatening while being better defensively.

Can go on about the sin binning and that but we losses it after 2-3 bad calls by the ref in the first half. Twal interfering which he didn't even touch the bloke, Laurie getting 6 again against for a tackle he didn't play at as well as Parra staying down on two occasions for nothing gave Parra 4-6 more sets and field.position. Add to that our mistakes and then we were cooked.

We still would of losses but if the ref hadn't intervened for them so much it would of ended up 10-14 point loss.

The amount of time between Parra not being held and allowed to offload and the 6 again call seemed to be pretty close to zero. If Parra were being pushed backwards or towards the side line they were called held immediately.

Heard a rumour that Gutherson is coming to the Tigers.

Apparently from Pascoes mouth...

I have no connections with the club and I don't pretend that this rumour has any truth to it.

Personally, I think it would seem unlikely, but maybe one of the lads who is closer to the club can add any comments.

Atkins is a clown and should never be allowed to referee eels games. His family is slime royalty

is he related to the quadruple try debutant Jordan Atkins?

Nope. His father is a life member and former nrl player Graeme, his uncle was a junior pathways coach and still involved I think and and I believe his grandfather was also senior there awaits back.

That explains alot after today.

Really loomed forward to that game yesterday but the game was spoilt from the beginning by a referee hell bent on officiating the game out of control, this game was all about the referee and his continual six agains. Close to 70 % possession rate to a good nrl team will eventually deflate any team and then to make sure he ruined the game straight after half time he further sin bins what should have been a penalty. Finally when the game is over for all intention purposes he by todays standards sin bins what should have been send offs. I believe the side really put in this game BUT finally failed under fatigue. Didnt think I would ever say it but for the first time in my life iam starting to turn off league .

It is hard to fathom how the Blore jumper pull can be compared to Siva high tackle and attract the same penalty. The light jumper pull had no bearing on a try not been scored.

Most of the current elite fullbacks took a few years in first grade to become elite, adding new skills to their game over time. Tedesco did not do much ball playing when he played for the Tigers. It is the most complicated job in the NRL. I think at this stage he needs to master a few things rather then trying to do what Turbo, Tedesco and Paps can do, so others need to fill the gaps.

I said we should go for Hynes as fullback to give Laurie time to develop on the wing. It probably would have made us better in he short term but may have cost us in the long run, there is no way to know.

Can’t stand the bloke, but if he’s playing in WT’s colours well maybe?

dudded by Atkins, Mikaele and M'Bye out, Roberts out of position, and Laurie not at his best. not entirely worried after this performance, we'll be ok.

P.S. Adam Doueihi, find your shoulders son.

Parra are always a hard team for us....
The ref was an absolute flop and crippled us

I think we would've lost either way though.
Unfortunately.

Walters and Talau aren't FG players.

beginning to think Talau doesn't have it. was a believer in the fact that he was playing out of position on the wing, but today he looked lethargic from minute 1. I don't know if there's a permanent fix out there that can remedy his issues.

The fix will be roberts to centre, ken to the wing and talau left right out.

Yep, but I hope Gildart is the answer next year?

I like gildart

He speaks well for himself and is a good player

Gildart is a centre that has played for England. No one in our backline has played for Australia or SOO (maybe jtj). Considering the lack of quality centres on the market he is a good buy. And i believe Hastings will play 5/8 , not as a small lock as some on here have posted. We desperatley need a punishing forward leader, and 2 quick backs to be a top 8 chance next year.

I think today was a true reflection of where we are.

I :100: agree @gallagher.
And in saying that I reckon we have improved so much as compared to just a few weeks back and feel each and everyone of our **team** played to the best of their ability yesterday.

But We just dont have the quality players we need.
I doubt very much that any of us could say we have a single player that is better than Parra had in any position on the field.

Parra were like greased lightning in defence and attack yesterday.

Up till 1/2 time Parra had approx 70% possession and understandably our blokes would have been stuffed.
Then combined with crook Referring decisions and no-decisions that went against us we just had no hope.
But we hung in there like never before.

Parras 2nd try, the pass from Brown to Lane was forward and the Blore sin binning was a farce.

One feature I really liked was the **aggro** some of our blokes showed. We are at last starting to show we are not gonna be pushed around by bullies like Brown.

The addition of our new Kiwi winger will have very little impact this year, but combined with a few new players next year, we'll be a vastly improved **Wests Tigers Team**.
