November 1 is also Day of the Dead..
Maybe we need to clear some deadwood first.

Nov 1st is also World Vegan Day, Some food for thought for JT.
I listened to the sport report on ABC radio. They mentioned Nov 1 is the start of period that clubs can contact players off contract from 2017\. Then they said West Tigers have Woods, Tedesco, Moses and Brooks all off contract. No mention of other clubs and there players dam it.

Without TPAs i dont see how we can keep all 4 - I would think we are looking at around 3 million for the 4 which leaves 4 million for the other 21 players. Thats only an average of 190k for the rest of the squad. It can be done but would need a few players on very low contracts.

November 1 is Ale Day with mates and happy Punting   , #4 Bondi Beach to get the cookies in the big one. Good value bet and should come in #1 Big Orange.

Back on topic as others have said we can't sign them to the same length of Contract as in the future could be the issue in keeping them together…..if the Club wants to build a team around them .

I'm actually not worried about any of them as i feel they won't be going anywhere.

It looks like many people on this forum did not see too many WT games, as they would not be saying 'Seumanufagai and Sue must lift their game' ??
If anyone has to lift their game are players like Sironen, Naiqama, Brooks, Lawrence, Simona and Lovett but definitely not Seumanufagai and Sue.
Arguably, they are between our most improved players in the last 2-3 years, Seumanufagai was often one of our best players last season :sign:

There's 50 million dollars worth of talent off contract next year. While our guys will be sought after, they won't be the be all, end all for other clubs. There's plenty of big fish from other clubs that are available.

The 2018 salary cap will more likely be around the $10m mark (obviously TBC).

You people are fixated on keeping these players… When will our Big Cash come from to improve our roster?

yep, excellent point. We've been guilty of stringing along the mid-tier players rather than properly scorching the earth and rebuilding.

Love to keep the big four, but you know for years we have blown all our cap trying keep players we have on our books and has left us with bugger to shop with. At some point we have to get the balance right, my point is if we let a player like Brooks go we might be able to direct the money at another player who has runs on the board.

Its great to have the bunch of players who have been around each other since pre school, but it is even better to have a bunch of players who win regularly. As I said I would love to sign the four of them but I would also like to be able introduce some outside talent into the joint

**High-profile stars headline a 250-strong list of players off contract at the end of next season**

Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe, who has 21 players off contract at the end of next season, confirmed the club had already started preliminary discussions to keep the vital quartet long-term.
>
“We are in the process of retention and acquisition and those conversations are underway,” Pascoe said. “We will be talking to the manager of those players and that will be happening behind closed doors.
>
“When there is an outcome we will let everyone know.”
>
Of the current Tigers squad, only forward Elijah Taylor remains without a contract for next season. Taylor has received significant interest from rugby union, but Pascoe said the club was confident of re-signing the New Zealand-born forward.

“Positive discussions continue,” he said.
>
Despite the Tigers' testing situation, Pascoe believed retention had become less complicated in recent seasons.
>
“If you’ve been able to establish and develop a culture from within, then I think it becomes an easier challenge,” Pascoe said. “It’s certainly still a challenge, but an easier one.”
>
Pascoe says the real test lies in signing new talent, especially when you’re not winning.

“It’s always challenging to attract new players unless you can offer up competitive advantages,” he said.

“Every club would be striving to achieve that through culture, team lists and facilities.

“We are certainly striving towards making sure this club is a place where players want to come to and stay at.”

The Tigers have signed Jamal Idris on a one-year deal for 2017 and Pascoe said the talented forward had already made an impact on the club.
>
“Jamal has been terrific so far,” he said. “Big Jamma comes in as a cult hero already.

“He is very popular among the fans and certainly has a lot of capability. He is working hard as we speak.”

MORE than $50 million worth of rugby league talent comes on the open market on Tuesday as the biggest silly season in NRL history begins.
>
Some of the game’s most high-profile stars headline a 250-strong list of players off contract at the end of next season.
>
Rival clubs are now free to negotiate with the likes of Johnathan Thurston, Anthony Milford, Shaun Johnson, Mitchell Pearce, Semi Radradra, Darius Boyd and Valentine Holmes.
>
Many clubs remain in limbo as players hold off committing to deals until a decision is made on the increase to the NRL salary cap from 2018.
>
A monster jump from $6.7m to $10.4m will mean big pay rises for players and a scramble for signatures.
>
But leading player agent Steve Gillis expected to see the game’s biggest stars to lock in deals shortly.
>
“You’ll be noticing player movement sooner than usual,” Gillis said. “Despite the fact no-one knows what the salary cap will be, I anticipate the majority of players will move sooner rather than later in regards to securing their futures.
>
“The elite players are either in negotiations or will soon commence negotiations with their incumbent clubs or with others.”
>
While teams like Penrith have the bulk of their first-grade squad locked in on long-term deals, the Wests Tigers face a stern test to retain off-contract stars James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses, Luke Brooks and captain Aaron Woods.
>
Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe, who has 21 players off contract at the end of next season, confirmed the club had already started preliminary discussions to keep the vital quartet long-term.

Like the Tigers, the Roosters also have a host of stars off-contract in 2017 including Pearce,
>
Blake Ferguson, Aidan Guerra, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Dylan Napa
>
Daniel Tupou and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
>
“It’s football’s new year,” Roosters chief executive John Lee said.
>
“There is a systematic approach that is applied by a lot of clubs. It’s about methodically going through the prioritisation of the re-signing of players. That’s a good system to have in place and one we’ve got at the Roosters.”
>
Lee was adamant Pearce would be a priority re-signing, despite his well-publicised off-field indiscretions.
>
“Absolutely. We have put last season behind us and he has had a good off-season, a good break,” Lee said.
>
“We look forward to Mitchell returning and training well in the lead-up to Christmas.”
>
Retaining Radradra long-term will be a major focus for Parramatta, despite the Fijian flyer previously indicating a desire to play rugby union.
>
It will be the same for Penrith backline duo Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Dean Whare, who are already reportedly in the sights of rivals Manly.

the big cash as you say is still an unknown quantity until the NRL fess up to what the new cap will be. Until then it's a guessing game

Pascoe speaks with a lot of confidence. In the unlikely event they leave, not only will it hurt us on the field, but given how much emphasis the club puts on these guys being the future of the club, it would be a PR disaster

Funny how they name like 50 odd players and claim it's $50 million dollars worth of talent.Like they're all million dollar players…! lol

We're in the same place as most clubs...

I reckon teams searching for solid halves would be looking more closely at the Broncos halves combination with Hunt and Milford available!

If we lose Brooks, I'd throw whatever we offered or were prepared to Brooks straight to Jack Bird to play 5/8 his preferred position with Moses at 7!

I'm not worried about Woods, but Moses and Teddy on the other hand scares me I think teams like the Roosters will throw lots of $ at him!

Tedesco is the key factor in all of our key player negotiations.

He will get big bikkies from us or someone else so if he stays that will leave less for the others (Moses, Woods & Brooks).. That will play a part in whether they stay.

If Tedesco leaves, it will basically guarantee that the others stay.

My biggest concern is that the Roosters have it public that they want Tedesco. They'll offer him $1.5M a season but only $900K will go to their cap.

We can't match that.

teddy, moses and woods are a must. Brooks is important as well, look at the merry go round we had when Prince left.

Completely agree stability with our best players is vital for the future

I can tell you that the club has budgeted $3 million to re-sign the fab 4 and are very confident of keeping them.
