I know its not even 2018 yet, but its only 3 weeks till we can "officially" start negotiating with players for 2019\. This creates a few questions.

What players, if any, should we target?

Which off contract players should be offered new deals?

How much will we have to spend?

Should we expect any signings before round 1?

A decent backrower and look at how the outside backs go in 2018

Hard to say, too many variables - for example, how will Lolohea go in the 1, will McQueen bounce back, and how will youngsters like Suli and Masters go in their second year etc.

Can see maybe one more signing before round one.
Need to target backrow and back-up fullback

Out of the off contract list -
JJ Felise, Tim Grant, Benji Marshall, Esan Marsters, Kevin Naiqama, Sauaso Sue, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak

Esan Marsters would be top priority

Latrell Mitchell #1 priority for 2019 even if it make Nick dig a bit deeper into his fog pocket.

Some of the bigger names we could have a crack at in the second row include Buhrer, Cordner, Crichton, Lowe, Mannering and Papalii. Don't think we'll have a chance for any of them but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a go for one of them.

Crichton is at Easts if Souths don't throw the kitchen sink at him, so forget him.

Cordner would be good, Lowe would be handy as a goal kicking second rower but he's a QLD'er so he won't want to leave. Buhrer would be good for utility value.

Grant has taken up an option for 2018.
Naigama, Benji, Sue, Marsters and MWZ are all signed for 2018 as far as I know.
That leaves only JJ.

Russell..we are by passing 2018….I believe this thread is for purchases for the 2019 season...all those players listed by wt00 are in fact off contract Nov 1 2018..

Oh! ok Geo, misunderstood the whole point.

Back to where you were wt00 with apologies.

Yep . Think like a business man. Do the groundwork now for the long term . Nov 1st is a key date , more for 2019 than 2018.
Be proactive not reactionary

Well a lot depends on how we gel as a team next season, who survives, who steps up and who doesn't, but regardless I still think we need a couple of real top notch signings for 2019, so here goes.

What players, if any, should we target? **Boyd Cordner, Michael Morgan (won't happen but I can dream), Corey Oates**

Which off contract players should be offered new deals? **Esan Marsters, Suaso Sue (as long as they keep improving)**
How much will we have to spend? **No Idea**

Should we expect any signings before round 1? **I am expecting someone, but have no idea who….Cronk maybe **
