NRL GF... My God, what a choice

I want to see Manly's decline. What a sweet ride down it'll be, and then you'll see what happens to their crowds haha. They're already falling, watch it plummet to below 10k if they fail to make the 8.

They've missed the finals 9 times since 1967\. Could be waiting a while.

Yep … One of the extra benefits of long term success is it draws talent to the club. Manly are known for their tough culture and I'm sure many players wouldn't mind being offered a Manly contract. If I was a player, I'd easily take $200k to play at Manly than $300k for a basket case club like Parramatta.

Just hoping now that ASADA strip a few sides from limb to limb

Supposedly 5 clubs that made the 8 have some involvement

I spent the GF at a mates with a few NSW Cup/first grade players we know from several different teams. This ASADA investigation is going to get pretty crazy. I can't comment on names because it could put some of these guys in the firing line, but expect things to getting pretty messy for some high profile players in the next few weeks.

Oh well, at least it will make the off season more interesting. I just hope none of our guys are involved.

ratings in. 2.2 million avg for the 5 city metro 3.3 milion avg for Australia. AFL was 3.6 million avg. nationally.

Poor ratings reflecting poor management. Hopefully now with crowds falling 1k per game, TV ratings, and GF tv ratings all dropping they'll get the message and fix up the state of the game.

There were many contributing factors to the poor TV ratings this year.

Unfortunately the fixed schedule backfired on the NRL. Too often we were left with nothing games on a Friday night. Even in the last six rounds where the schedule was decided late they still had Parramatta on FTA I think 4 or 5 times.

I also still can't understand how the NRL agreed to only having one live game of NRL on FTA per week. There's more live games of NFL on FTA!! And the lack of High-Definition is appalling. Flat screens are now the norm in households and the fact we're stuck with poor quality broadcasts for the next five years is a shame

I couldn't get over how childish and highly unprofessional Nines coverage of the day was.

Thank goodness Fox covered the two lower grade games.

Channel 9 are an embarrassment to the game

NFL doesn't have 1080p don't think any sport does. 720p is relatively new for broadcasting too. And yes I know everyone has full hd (1080p) TV's, hell I'm typing from a full he tablet. But TV broadcasts are different.

The fall of the NRL started with the appointment of John Grant… They should never sacked Gallop... Under Smith and Grant the game has gone backwards

I found it disrespectful to the lower grade games that Channel 9 were running interviews with former players, moving away from the showing the match.

That's all good Pacey. I'm not the sort of "heard it here first" goose, but I am lucky in the sense that I know a few players so I hear a bit more than the average fan. The guys could be completely off, but I'm sure they would've had a better insight as to what is happening from the inside and from what I was told the whole Earl thing is the tip of the iceberg and shit will hit the fan soon. For what it's worth I did ask about any potential Tigers who may be involved and they did say no Tigers were from what they knew.

wasn't the day the ASADA scandal broke the darkest day in Australian sport history? that was before the 1st kick off and now the last NRL match has been played nothing's happened although every 2nd week it seems as though it's about to blow up. i've stopped listening to all these 'it's gonna happen next week' proposals. it'll happen when it happens, if it does at all.

That is a massive relief. If our players were taking performance enhancing substances and could only perform as dismally as they did this season I would be bloody worried!
