Taking a knee when the National Anthem is played..

Rank amateur. There is already better within the NRL, they don’t play the anthem at all.

He was the dude with Afro who "Bent the Knee during the US Anthem. He is a despised man in America, An adopted "Bi-racial" (WTF is that?) by White parents, he protested over the "treatment of racial minorities in the USA" did I mention that he's a Multi-Millionaire? BTW nearly every dude in the NFL is Black on a minimum wage of a gazillion $. Nearly every Black guy in America would be in the starting 5 for the Sydney Kings and earn a $500K! .As Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon is proving day by day, the only people who want to keep the racial minorities down are the Democrats cos they need their vote, Sorry folks, I know this ought to be in the Politics thread, but Kapernik is Politics! Big mistake V'Landys - woefuul virtue signalling effort if true.

This sort of post is far better suited to a white supremacists forum.

I’ve heard that kind of rhetoric before. Out and out saying the black man should be grateful to the white man for allowing them to be successful. Fall into line.

Wow! Unsubstantiated rant of the season contender right there.

This is very sad. Identity politics is destroying our game. I know high profile activists make big money, and I don’t mind that because I’m a fan of the free market. It’s also obvious to me that some posters enjoy the conflict which often follows from their outing racism where it doesn’t exist. Racism has become a money-making industry for many, but only while the identity politics prevails. Follow the money.

we dont even play our anthem thats worse.
Between the advertisement now this the nrl is going down the toilet we are lucky as union is a compete basket case soccer well is soccer and afl are just as strange with the decisions they make as well. It is a race to the bottom.
As for Kaepernick he took a knee was given press time then the coach worked out he was useless and a distraction punted him they got the new QB from Patriots and made teh superbowl

One of the worst posts i’ve read in a long time. On a lot of levels.

This is so embarrassing. The posts in here. I'm about done with this forum. I just come to talk Tigers, there is so much casual racism. I try to refrain from responding. So maybe I should just not come here, which is a shame, because I do enjoy many of the other posts and discussion.

Or discuss the future of the game? Depends entirely on your political view. You have a right to your view. You want identity politics in the game because it serves your purpose in some way.
Personally I don’t think Australia will not have a flag or an anthem, so this could go on for a long time. In which case, what happens to our nrl? I don’t really care what flag we fly or what anthem we sing as long as we can all sing it together while we express our love for each other and this country. Yes, I mean everyone, including those marshmallows among us who are afraid of facing the reality. As if SoO 1 wasn’t a sobering thought provoking insight into the window of our future?
Maybe my views are old fashion? Maybe my opinion is not cool or in keeping with commercial reality? But I dont Want the thought police censoring me by calling me names.
Chill.

You do understand we have free speech and freedom of expression in this country don’t you ! Just because someone’s views are different to yours does not mean they can not express them .. just move to the next page or download the utopia Times!

You can ‘t tell the otherside to chill when you aren’t chilling yourself complaining about ads and unsubstantiated rumours of controversial US athletes being brought into the NRL realm.

Where have I ever complained about ads? I’ve only complained about the gradual introduction of identity politics in our sport. Please point to where I have complained about unsubstantiated rumours of us athletes? It’s them and us huh? That’s your position? Think about it?

Snake does have a point. If you want to just talk Tigers and not get too offended then you are going to have to restrict yourself to the Tigers threads.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, because its probably been the most toxic offseason I've seen on here. But also the most engaged offseason, whereas in years past this place has turned into a graveyard in Summer.

We are 95% Tigers fans, but as soon as you look at another demographic we split wildly. So like any slice of society you are going to find the highly disagreeable opinions.

So whilst I agree there are a lot of boneheaded comments in this thread specifically, that's this risk of reading these threads. Obv this was titled NRL, but really it's not NRL at all.

When I’m constructing a post I use the lens: would I say this face to face with mates in a pub? If I can answer yes then I post it. Sometimes I think it’s too easy to post resentful or threatening or bigoted posts on an anonymous forum. It truly would be good to meet each other from time to time. If we did this I’m pretty confident the standard of posts would increase.

It is more than just casual, as generally they are not often embarrassed and some pretend that it is a political thing. Tony Abbott is a prime example showing that is not the case, unless one wants it to be.

Respond by calling it out and move on, as one can agree with the same person on other matters. With their response, you should be able to differentiate those which have made an honest mistake from those whose thoughts are held forefront .
