NSW changes

The article below is the most sensible thing I have heard or read since the game on Wednesday night. Honestly, there is no need for the usual knee jerk reaction calls for massive changes because of a 1 point loss.

Making wholesale changes will only kill our chances of winning the series, as we have seen happen so many times in the past. I sure hope Daley sticks with as much of the same line up as possible - B. Morris in for Tupou would be the only change I would make.

WHAT is it about New South Wales fans and wanting to ring the changes to the side whenever they lose a game?

Sitting in amongst Blatchy's Blues on Wednesday night just after the full-time siren, the question of who to sack was again circulating around the ground.

"Who can we bring in?" "Get rid of Mitchell Pearce, he's a hack", "they should replace Josh Morris with Jarrod Croker" were just some of the comments.

The thing about New South Wales fans is that they all have a hidden agenda; if changes are needed they'll nominate several players from the club they support who would be a better option when most of the time everyone knows they're not.

It happens all the time.

Truth is the Blues weren't that far away on Wednesday night and there's no shame in losing by a point to the current Queensland side who, despite losing the series last year, still possess some of the all-time great players.

The fact it took them until the 75th minute before Cooper Cronk put them back in front spoke volumes about the tenacity and toughness of the current Blues 17.

In the second half the Blues had precious little football at the money end of the ground and the sheer amount of tackling in their own half eventually took its toll.

Don't forget Josh Dugan almost covered himself in glory with about 90 seconds left on the clock when he had a shot at field goal from 30 metres out and had to dance his way around the oncoming defence.

The difference between the two sides wasn't necessarily the absence of Jarryd Hayne (who we all know won't be back), Paul Gallen and Greg Bird, it was the ability of the key playmakers grasping the opportunity with both hands when it presented itself.

Chopping and changing the side will do nothing but disrupt the combinations which Laurie Daley started a little over 12 months ago so it was encouraging to hear in the press conference he wanted to keep as much of the same side as possible.

Continuity is the only thing which will stop Queensland. It did last year, there's no reason it can't this year. The Blues will just have to do it the hard way by winning the last two games.

That's rubbish for me. QLD stay loyal because there's only a small pool to fish from. NSW need to put on their best team. It's not some loyalty program rewards club. That's bordering on corruption. The best players should be rewarded with the fat paycheque.

Dylan walker should be centre for state of origin. Jennings is doing sfa at the moment… Hasn't played well for some time..

Hope so, with Johnston outside him…

Should help our problems this Friday!

Well Hokko will be on his last chance as will Pearce I guess. If they don't play well enough, I guess 3rd game we just might see Reynolds and maybe Austin in a few weeks. Can't believe Hodkinson was hooked today. Didn't see the game but he must have sucked.

Neither of those changes are a suprise. But on this occasion, I think the 2nd cut will be the deepest should they go down. Daley is showing enormous faith in his team. Given they only went down by a point last time, there's no reason why this lot can't take down that lot so long as they play to their ability.

Surprised NSW dropped Fifita to be honest

Should of started SOO 1 with Woods and Tamou off the bench imo

Tamou is far better suited to coming off the bench than Fifita

How in the Hell does Daniel Tupou get dropped and Hopoate retained? Brett Morris should be replacing Hopoate not Tupou.
Hodgkinson retained WOW!!!!!

Josh Reynolds did well off the bench for the Bulldogs yesterday. Only came on for 20 minutes and changed the game.

If NSW lose this series, Daley has to wear the blame. Sticking with the 7 when even his own coach doesn't want him…..Can't see how Alex Johnston doesn't get a spot over Hoppa. It would have to be the last chance for much of this team (Farah included).
