Official: Esan leaving

He wouldn’t have been on more than about 300k. He signed this contract as a rookie. Doubt it’s freeing up much cash. Probably more of a case that he isn’t Madge’s type of player and they are doing him a favour by letting him take up a big offer elsewhere.

Far out... A good player lost who copped a lot of stick from fans... Local junior as well. Well, if we don't sign a competent or even better replacement I won't be letting this go any time soon.

So our Centre stocks for next year are

Mbye
Momo
Talau
Jennings
Chee-kam as a backup

Hopefully Momo can continue to improve as with Talau.

I hope they look at another forward with Esan's money

Heartening 🙄

To be honest I think it’s a good move by the club. He didn’t deserve an upgrade. He’s too slow and lazy for centre and too lazy and small for back row. Off to Cowboys where I predict he’ll never be heard from again after 1 season.

Yes it’s extremely rare that players leave the Tigers system to find success elsewhere.

I'm guessing we had to do this to register Benji's contract. I'm probably wrong but his cap space is probably going to Benji and Britton

For every player that has I can name 10 that haven’t.

Cue: Round 10 next year “Tigers again regret letting go a junior” smells like the Addo-Carr decision years ago.

@innsaneink Do you not think he is being replaced by another centre? Have some faith in the coach, he is not an idiot.

I am happy with that. He would be on 400k easily. The wording of the article means we aren’t paying a dime. Matterson leaving as well frees up 350k.

Thats 750k free.

If Matulino retires, thats another 650k.

Looking at 1.35mil free space...

As a mate said, knowing us we will use the money to extend Lawry.....

This is really really tough and could go either way.

My initial thoughts are that he would get back to his best - but tbh even his best wasn't anything near the top centres in the game.

I can see Talau progressing to be just as good if not better than what Esan has delivered so far, and for less.

One thing is for sure, I hope this has nothing to do with fitting in the signings and re-signings we have made so far and that something bigger is to come.

Jennings is not centre stock.

He is a nothing.

Looks like the cafe a while ago and the chat recently with Zac Lomax could be the centre pairing with Momo. Luv it!!!!!
