Pretty simple as I see it--We need speed! The G F was won through speed.Storm, Raiders Souths have it. Esan needed 20 metre run up to get moving-something other teams were awake to.

Yeah, we need players like JAC, Tedesco, Pappenhauzen...............

Hang on................

Rather than insinuating players that we let go.

Maybe you could name someone with speed - that actually wanted to stay.

Well, JAC wanted to stay....Balmain fan.

Pap also...Balmain family.

Not criticising...just would be nice if we got these right for a change when deciding who to keep.

Two ways of looking at it EH.

JAC couldn't wait for Pascoe to get back - so signed with Storm.

Pap wanted an opportunity to play first grade now and he Teddy was in his way and Slater would be retiring soonest - so signed with Storm.

They might have been a Balmain fan and Balmain family but they didn't put themselves out.

Don't think Pap is any great loss myself.

Personally, I think he is but time will definitely tell.

Re Pap leaving...IMO it is more that someone in management should have sat down with Tedesco and said "what are you planning mate? You bolted for Canberra...won't commit long term...keep on saying you want to look around / constantly linked with Easts, Minicello is your mentor...just tell us what you plan straight up. We have a Kangaroo junior FB waiting and we don't want to lose him. If you are staying, we will let him go. If you are leaving, we will make him a priority........."

Instead we sat there passively for six months whilst Tedesco basically screwed us and lost them both...

Best crop of juniors we had in sometime and we employed a coach who had no idea how to coach what was in front of him. We were never any hope of retaining any of our talented junoirs at that time - as if Tedesco was ever going to sign with JT as coach.

I'm arguably this clubs harshest critic. I was laughing at how inept we were at times this year. But letting Ersan go is definitely positive. Letting Lawrence go in my opinion is positive too. I honestly feel moving corey thompson on is positive too. If the cllub is serious about consistent winning then we need arguably the best @ the 1,6,7,9 positions. Even if you're building post 2020 then we need to allow the kids to come through next year instead of sticking with players like thompson etc

Agree with your first sentence - disagree with just about all the rest. Everyone's entitled to their opinion though.

tiges need to shed players. Lawrence; Thompson etc are good players but to me if we are serious about being consistently in the top 4 of the competition then players like lawrence et al aren't at that level. again just my opinion. Seems lilke madge is moving in that direction. But hey im just glad the NBA and NFL are back.

Far out... A good player lost who copped a lot of stick from fans... Local junior as well. Well, if we don't sign a competent or even better replacement I won't be letting this go any time soon.

Wasn't he an Easts junior?

Born and raised in NZ. Played SG Ball for Roosters as a 5/8. Then came to us for U20s and played mostly 2nd row IIRC.

So our Centre stocks for next year are

Mbye
Momo
Talau
Jennings
Chee-kam as a backup

Hopefully Momo can continue to improve as with Talau.

I hope they look at another forward with Esan's money

Jennings is not centre stock.

He is a nothing.

Looks like the cafe a while ago and the chat recently with Zac Lomax could be the centre pairing with Momo. Luv it!!!!!

STGI would be mad to release Lomax. He’s a star in the making. Huge talent that would be a Wests Tigers move. I applaud the decision to let Martsers go he hasn’t earnt a massive upgrade he was signed on good money last time by Cleary who is t afraid of paying overs. Cowboys would have paid top dollar.

The dragons are well aware about Lomax being their best prospect for years and would not want to lose him,the only hope is that Lomax is unhappy being coached by Mary and wants to play under a good coach

A bit like we were aware James Tedesco was a star but in the end you can’t keep a bloke who doesn’t want to stay. I suspect if Lomax is already meeting with other clubs the Dragons might end up in the same boat we did with Teddy.

Hopefully you are right and Lomax decides Madge would be the right coach to play under

I’m really not fussed either way with Esan leaving or whether he stayed.

One thing i found interesting though is how the whole rule of not being able to negotiate with a player pre-November 1st of the final year of a players contract is a load of rubbish that no player or club seems to actually follow.

The only time it gets beat up into something big is when it’s a player you really don’t want to lose.

When it’s a big name player/coach, all you hear is how they shouldn’t be talking to our player before Nov 1 and “how dare they!!!”

Just goes to show if you want someone on contract you can generally get them if it works out for all parties and bugger the rules.

It certainly will be disappointing if he plays to his potential with his new club.

That's a very real possibility. McGregor really stuffed Lomax around in 2019. Had him playing all sorts of positions, but not his preferred right centre spot. Mary McDumbdumb kept persisting with duds/plodders over Lomax. You can't have a star-in-the-making filling a Mr. Fix-it role like Mitch Aubusson.

Wasn’t his best year with us but still a quality player. All the best to him.

At least all parties played this out respectfully. Not to much rumble in the media which says our club was fine with the decision.

He obviously does not fit the profile the coach is looking for to break the cursed 9th finishing spot ... good luck with his endeavours elsewhere , his performances this season where less than what is required at this level ... Madge is weeding out the non performers and he certainly fits that bill !

I think Esan is too much of a confidence player. When its down, its down which showed up in his goal kicking. Anyway, good luck to him and here's hoping for something better coming our way...

Bit hard when he had bung ankle. You watch how fast everybody turns on the club for this if he kills it next year. Forgetting how they bagged him for the entire year this year.

Good luck to the kid and hope he lives up to his potential as he has bucket loads of it.

Unless we have someone coming in, looks like Mbye, Talau and Momo next year.

Hope we spend the cash on a quality forward. JWH would be awesome.

Yea but with Flanagan being appointed assistant I think the writing is on the wall for Mary. I can see players staying there another year to see what pans out.
