Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

Reynolds has the right attitude.

Yes we were sucking in the past years, but we were coming 9-12th… not bottom of the table. I think people like Farah helped pick us up when we were close to the scrapheap, i.e. he pushed himself and the team to try harder.... Let that be in the past.

I don't think Woods has been as good a captain as Farah and it has been a mistake in making Woods captain. Woods I don't think has been rallying our team to try harder and get into it, he doesn't play that way and I can't see him pushing people to get more aggressive.

I still like Woods. I would take him back in a second. But he is the friend who gets up when he wants, not when he needs too.

Peter Sterling and some other RL dude were talking about how NSW and Queensland pick their players. NSW seemed to pick on stats and club performance. QLD picked on attitude. I think we need more players with the right attitude and I don't think Reynolds is enough as it stands currently.

When I hear Luke Lewis talking about how he is motivated by the peer group at Cronulla to do better (players that are NOT as good as him), I think I get why Cronulla gets the best out of him.

Who cares if he trips. He is our tripper now. Trip on.

We're actually already catching his kicking virus already , and he hasn't even arrived yet, :roll ,

Oath  What makes Reynold's tripping any different from Brooks? I'd much rather have a pack of mongrels than a bunch of softies.

Deliberate tripping was once looked at as the lowest form of dog act.
In my opinion it still is.
I'd suspect it won't happen again with Brooks, , but it's an ingrained reaction by Reynolds. At this stage of his career, he won't change that , or any of his other Brain Farts.

charged and will appear in the district court. his contract will be under scrutiny if found guilty. but innocent until proven guilty. Supposedly refused to leave a license premise and abused a staff member

Things are really shaping up beautifully for next season.

He will not go to court ! It's a failure to leave a licensed premise. Which is a $550 fine & nothing more. He didn't assault anyone, didn't threaten anyone. He'll pay the fine & that's the end of it from a legal matter. You don't go to court for this kind of incident

Completely unrelated to this so called incident, but looking back now on the signing of reynolds, does anyone else feel like decision to sign him was all a bit rushed? If was at a time when the club was taking a beating in the media, and no doubt the front office desperately wanted some positive news to release. So we rush out and put out an offer that Reynolds can't refuse. I can't help but think if we were a little more patient we could've netted someone like TMM for half the coin. TMM is just an example, there could've been others.

Perhaps I just need someone to hold me and tell me that 2018 & beyond will be ok…

Ill honest I am worried about Reynolds.

I like the attitude he brings however these days in the halves you need quality above anything else.

No point worrying about something out of your control… Lives too short

Ivan's soft calm words and some camomile tea will do him wonders

It only cost Brooks $1000 chicken feed.

We could buddy him up with Lovell when he arrives. He's sure to keep him out of trouble
What could go wrong there? Lol.

The signing was applauded by Gould, Fittler, Johns, Sterling and others. I believe the Dogs style of play is dominated by forwards that hog good ball and a hooker halfback that cannot pass the ball. Better player than he has shown under this Hasslerball team that is possibly the most underperforming team of quality players I can remember.

He's not the next coming of Wally Lewis but In terms of 5/8 he'd be under Maloney, Morgan, Munster, Milford, Widdop,Norman Green. He's a top 8ish 5/8 could be much worse.

By that logic, he's definitely not top 8, given he's also worse than Moylan, Foran and Cody Walker.

Maybe he's on par with Austin?? Keary perhaps at a stretch??

But even then he'd need a decent half.

A running 5/8 you don't want to have to rely on to win the game for you.

At best in 2018 we'll be on par with the Raiders halves and they can largely account for the Raiders inability to win finals footy - or even make the finals in all likelihood this year.

But hey I hope I'm wrong but I believe this was a very poor purchase as was Lolohea (unless the latter is backup or utility).

Well you do end up in court if you want to defend it, but otherwise that's right. It's an offence under s 77(6) of the Liquor Act and it's a penalty notice offence. Typically they serve the penalty notice and if the fine is paid then that's the end of the matter. If he wanted to defend it then there would be a hearing in the Local Court, not the District Court.

I'd love us to sign a prime Wally Lewis. How about a prime Johns/Lewis partnership. We'd probably go close to making the 8.

Moylan and Walker are abysmal this year terrible 5/8s both better suited to fullback. He is a better 5/8 than these two easily. Foran is a high priced risk who I wouldn't consider at his price. Anyway Grub is a mid level 5/8 who should be good for the Tigers. Who'd you expect Milford? We were a basket case the rebuild has to start somewhere and Reynolds can be very good, Cleary's biggest test along with Tui.
