Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

My question is what has happened to Des? He used to be a great coach! It's not like he hasn't got the cattle either. On paper, the Bulldogs look pretty strong across the park.

A great coach.. Hes had great teams him whole career. Dont get me wrong you still have to get them to perform. He is a good coach but id bet hed struggle at newcastle.

Woods must be twirling his locks at the thought of 2018…. :roll

Often times Coaches become stale when they stay at a Club too long…Des can Coach but players often get sick of hearing the same voice week in week out...

No better example than our own T. Sheens...

Yeah he probably would struggle with lesser talent for sure - many coaches would, but that's just it, the team he is coaching now is full of talent - he should be able to coach them to perform better than they have this year. I'm not really talking about today either, as they had 4 of their best missing - they've been poor across the whole season.

Of course he would struggle at Newcastle. Name one coach that would be able to turn their season around with the fire power they have available.

His recruitment policies have been terrible. Honestly see the bulldogs struggling for the 8 next year as well. There relying on Foran. Hes hamstrings are rooted, not too mention is off field drama. Good I say haha

The only thing that concerns me with reynolds is his passing skills, it's not the sharpest but perhaps he makes up for it in other area's of the game, Brook's is not great either.

Reyonds is a fantastic 5/8, but I agree with you… He doesn't give good ball. He defends, he runs, he pushes the team to try harder, he is awesome.

But he does not give good ball. Jamie Lyon does, SKD does, so does James Maloney...

Look at our new backline. Reynolds and Suli arn't known for passing. Daane Milne I think is similar but probably the best of the three. It would then be up too Brooks to get the ball out OR to have a good kicking game.

Hence why I am a little worried about next year.

I was actually surprised about how poor his passing skills are, he kind of lobs a long pass that holds up longer than it should and unfortunately Brooks is not a great long pass off loader himself..the best in our team is Lolohea and Watson and them two are in the 1..unless he plays lolohea inside centre ? he has options if he secures watson that's the good news.

Why would he play Lolohea in the centre? He is not a centre.

I don't think Reynolds passing game is as bad as everyone seems to be making out.

He might try a fit lolohea into the team somewhere if his playing well enough providing watson comes over? lolohea holds the ball up well on the cut out pass..Renyolds is not hopeless, my point here is more about the combination of Renyolds and Brooks they are both runners with the ball and neither of them posses that long cut out class pass, lolohea does have that talent..the combination wouldn't be a problem for me if Brooks was the man with the hands. It may still be a productive combination time will tell and as I said Cleary has options.

If Watson signs there will be 5 players vying for 2 spots.
So not fussed at this stage of who ends up where.
But for what it's worth, I am happy we signed Reynolds.
When I watch him he is always in the game and whilst not a star he will give 100% to team he plays for.
For me he ticks a lot of boxes and will bring this club a lot of positives both on and off the field.

I am really happy we signed Reynolds. His never die attitude will be great for us. But as I watched the scenes at Belmore after the game I started thinking- will this guy be able to switch allegiances and instantly become a true Tiger. I fear he could, quite naturally, feel very out of place after his life at the Bulldogs. Will his heart allow him to give his all for us? I hope so but I reckon it will be hard for him.

I remember when Tommy Raudonikis left Wests to play with Newtown.
Similar stiyle of player and similar history so people asked same sort of questions.
Transition was seamless ….. he bled the same blood for the jets that he left in buckets at Lidcombe.

It will be weird for him but he is a competitor once he runs across that strip instinct will take over and he will give everything to win. This guy will not accept losing

Reynolds gets sold short on talent. He is a very skilled player but a runner not a dominating ball player.
He's passionate but that's not his strength it's his running game. If given quality ball he can tear defences in half.
This bloke was key in NSW winning origin and was instrumental in Dogs finals runs. The dogs are horrid they win some games due to their powerful forwards and good defence.

Nobody compares to the great Tommy Ridiculous. If he isn't Australia's first president then it's a rort!

I really hope that Cleary lets Brooks and Reynolds play on both sides of the field next year. With Brooks controlling the direction of play and Reynolds popping up with his running game and linking with either Lolohea or Watson or whoever winds up wearing the 1\. I still think we're lacking genuine pace in the backs, but the spine should be more than capable of creating space and opportunities for points next season.

It's all well and good to praise Reynolds's never say attitude and commitment… I'd much rather Tigers spend all that money on good players ... he's almost not first grade standard

The Bulldogs never looked comfortable throwing the ball around yesterday. Graham was also not there to play halfback! I don't think the win did anything to further Hasler's tenure and I think both Bulldogs' halves should have lead more than they did.

One thing about Reynolds he has the eye of the Tiger. Win at all costs which leads to some unfortunate actions …it has been a long time since the team has had a personality like this and is worth every cent to have someone as driven!

I don't think too many would argue that point but from what I have watched. Lolohea is a very very good footballer and I can't wait until he is at best weight and fully fit.

He crabs… it's the worst of Benji .. dumb stuff included ... the Tigers have always been one of the dumbest teams and he will compound that .. plus his game won't age well because his best asset is his legs .. He isn't a general or a ball player and once his legs goes... so will the rest of his game ... I can only believe that Cleary himself was surprised at the level of talent he recruited and had he been the last on the list and not one of the first .. he would have settled on Brooks, Lolohea and Watson as his halves options
