OK let's be honest now

What has happened so in 3 rounds must be far beyond anyone's expectations defensively

When we start focusing on attack with our full strength side who knows what we can achieve

Can't believe some fans impatience ….let it happen ,it might take a little while

We've got the hardest things right , 100% team mindset , defence has become a strength and accountability to the man standing beside you

Faith , have faith

Glad to see some are pointing out our defence instead of concentrating on the amount of points scored. This is a HUGE improvement on any WT team I've seen.
Us scoring few is fine as long as the opposition score less. And, as stated by others, we're doing it against top clubs.
Look back to 05 and thereabouts.
Completely different scenario. We would leak points from everywhere BUT were able to score more.
That's all that really matters - scoring more than the opposition.

Not so much as good defense but rather exceptional commitment.
Nothing wrong with great attack as in 05 when one has the squad for it. You play to your strength.
Remember when Cleary mentioned back to the future he considered the really tough Wests sides of the 70s early 80s and Balmain defensive sides later as wel as a little from the WT attacking sides when the time is right. He jus t walked into a club with practically zero identity after former maggies player JT dismantled it and is fixing it with what his got.

I don’t understand the hate of JT. He was employed to dismantle a poor club culture. He delivered. Unfortunately for JT, he wasn’t required for the rebuilding phase, just like at Souths! I just wish people would acknowledge and show a little respect for the effort he put in under horrific circumstances. While I’m at it, we are competing and people are still whinging. Wake up and enjoy the ride. Go Weststigers!

I just don't get these threads right now.

We are defending like a Top 4 side, defending against literally the Top 3 sides from 2017, conceding only 2 tries in 240 minutes, but the attack is apparently a massive issue. Are you giving any thought to how much effort / energy is being spent in making this defence happen and how the attack might be somewhat relegated?

We literally undergo an amazing transformation in 3 months from brittle side to amazingly tough side, and you take that with open arms, then complain that the attack isn't threatening enough. The attack against the Top 3 sides!!!!

Two better bounces of the ball and Corey Thompson scores of kicks twice. A little bit better handling and maybe Aloiai and Lawrence break the line also.

It wasn't pretty last night but I've watched a lot of sides play ugly football in the first 3 rounds, and Roosters, Storm and Broncos also struggled in attack against us.

Let's at least play one of the lesser defending sides before we wrist-slit over the current non-first-choice combination of Thompson-Benji-Brooks-McIlwrick. Not even Liddle or Tui or Reynolds in the side, who we would have started if we had the choice.

AND

We have 90 seconds to go, down by 1, we win a short kickoff, move to the posts and slot an equaliser, in literally 90 seconds… when has a Tigers attack ever had such composure? When have the Tigers defended against the best sides for 80 mins then hold composure, 3 weeks running, to take the winning or equalising play at the death?

I don't recognise this side at all, but it's the best team I've seen run out for us since 2011\. They don't attack like 2011 but we just don't have that cattle. They also don't defend like 2011, which was part of the reason we didn't make the GF either of those years.

Madness, we've not even been headed at FT in 3 weeks.

X3

Hear, hear
Again, congrats to everyone involved in this incredible transformation :sign:

The team would have trained and practiced all preseason with the same spine.
Unfortunately due to injuries we have not been able to field that spine so far this year.
I think that our attack will improve when we get Liddle Brooks Grub and Tui get back together on the field.
As long as our D doesn't suffer.

People complaining about our attack would they care and get angry if we won the Grand Final 6-4?

Perhaps, especially in the earlier rounds, but at the pointy end of the season we didn't leak points from everywhere. In fact, our defence was outstanding:

QF against the Cows: 50 - 6;
SF against the Broncos: 34 - 6;
PF against the Dragons: 20 - 12; and
GF against the Cows: 30 - 16.

Don't want to dwell on JT too much but he didn't have the man management skills of Ivan Cleary. Ivan didn't take much crap from the so called big four. His line "you're either on the bus or you're off it". Didn't go to too well with players with big egos. He then signed Brooks for a small NRL halfbacks salary. So Ivan did his fair share of dismantling the WestsTigers poor culture as well. Ivan didn't just walk in when all the dirty work had been done. He inherited a rabble of a team. There was much to fix. The defence and attitude was the main thing.
Cleary has the team really motivated and playing for each other. The way they turn up for each other in the ruck and the effort they are putting in for 80 mins is awesome to see. The attack hasn't clicked yet but that will come. Hopefully today, if Liddle is playing.

I am not sure of JT changing the culture. His idea to move on Robbie Farah suggested ownership, but then changing gameplans based on the demands of under-performing young halves who have since shown a massive degree of self-interest could be seen as a continuation of the previous poor culture and eventually a coach killer.

He did have a poor roster and limited control in terms of recruiting his own squad, by Ivan has made a noticeable difference through having players buy in, particularly in defence.

No
But Id be angry if we lost a GF 4-6 and we hadnt addressed our lack of attack all year

Defensive is built on attitude

Attack is built on skill.

You can improve a skill through practice.

To practice something takes attitude and time.

We have proven we have attitude, all we need is time.

OK so how do people feel today? Attack clicked but defence not quite as good as previous weeks. Ironically we win by 10 today, scored 30 and I'd guess for most people this is the least impressive / satisfying win of the year so far?

JT was employed to impart a good culture. Yes dismantle a bad culture but was our culture that bad in 2015?

Farah got caught in an off camera talk with Gordon Tallis. We should Boo Tallis and give him crap every time he comes to our games. Dont get me wrong, Farah had his faults but the former board bears them, asking to borrow 200k from him and 100k from Marshall. By sacking Farah in the way that JT did he took us from 9th to 14th and got our stars thinking about the door. More then that it took heart away from the team.

Now we have brought back real clubmen. Reynolds, Packer, etc. Were better as a team of B graders then a team worried about superstars.

Thank you for that lesson - I don't think anyone on here was aware of what happened over the past three years.

Why do we have to regurgitate all the crap over and over again.

Can't we just enjoy the "New Wests Tigers" and the wins they are giving us. Lol

Just wanted to get the win I didn't care how ugly it was.

I feel like losing yesterday would have undone all the good work we had done so far this year.

Now we are building confidence and a very real chance of making Storm not go back to back since 2015.

That game yesterday would have been a game in the last couple of years we would have lost.

You can appreciate from the previous game against the Broncos how much energy it took out of both sides with Broncos upset by the Titans.

IC has done wonders to the spirit and pride of the WT culture and appears to live the values of players willing to get on the bus.

The star of the team is the team. Thank you 3 wins against the quality opposition teams.

Honestly believe we can beat Storm who have a few injury and suspense concerns.
