I watched about 10 minutes of the Huddersfield v Wigan game ..and his tackle attempt on McQueen when McQueen scores was pathetic ......

Don't worry Hastings doesn't miss out .....three forwards are trying to put the ballcarrier down in a tackle in the lead up ...Hastings is standing tell everyone to go right and left when he should have been tying up the ballcarriers hands .....get the pass away to half who then hits McQueen .....

We got some Pommie Duds everyone .....yayyyyy.....

But but Hastings is going to save us from Brooks....right?

Hastings = Cronk ,Sterling ,Langer and Mortimer in some eyes ...yet is playing as the leader in a Wigan side looking at having it worst season since the late 70's / early 80's

And Gildart is in the same side

I hope they are both tanking big time ......

They both took Wigan to the grand final last year, and Hastings took lowly Salford to the grand final the year before that. Wigan this year have been butchered by injuries, and players are out of position (including Hastings).

If they were high class NRL players ( as is being suggested by many on the Forum ) they would be carrying this side ...they aren't ...they will be lower tier NRL players ...exactly what we have already ....I did note in earlier posts that Wigan had injury issues ...Lam admitted himself the reason he didn't release Hastings this season was for that exact reason ...saw it in a post game interview .....from memory their forward pack was pretty injury free ......at that time

By that logic Tedesco is useless, because his team has been faring no better than Wigan lately.
The ONLY reason Hastings hasn't been playing NRL is he decked DCE.

This is some gold star posting. Hastings has been a star over there. Ben Barba was a star there but I think Bevan French is as well. We just got to wait and see. I think it's pretty clear they aren't as good as Tommy Turbo.

Well, Ben Barba was a star here, Hastings was still only a kid when he left Australia and I don’t think French was considered a ‘star’ in England.
It’s all conjecture until Hastings and Gilbert lace up their boots for us… although the deathriders are already out reporting on every tackle they miss … as if no player ever misses a tackle (ours more than most).

Mate it has to do with attitude ...9 minutes into a game and blokes aren't putting in .....Hastings is too busy worrying about other defnders when he was the solution ...tie the damn ball up .....Gildart doesn't even move off the try line in defence

No worries can't wait til these blokes come out and stink up Leichhardt and Campbelltown .....

If you don't like hearing the truth .....put me on foe ...and move on to your fairyland ...where the WT's go into every seasons as premiership favourites ......and then the press , the NRL , The refs , the rules are the problem .....

Can you please relax a bit Hap and wait and see what Madge will do with Hastings and Gildart first and foremost....these guys may surprise us and play good football...I think most are jumping the gun because of our poor results this year with heaps of young learners and the experienced guys waiting for their centrelink pension plan to evolve...

Grab a beer a slice of pizza and let things flow...it could be good for all of us...

I understand that ...but at the moment they are our 2 biggest signings .....that has to be very concerning for everyone .....

We have brought back blokes since 2011 who were killing it in ESL previously who fell on their faces in the NRL .....

I'd bring back Corey Thompson over Gildart ....lots of injuries already playing at a lesser level ...imagine doubling that physical and mental pressure ......

Watch the full game and then judge. Hastings looked dangerous with every touch and was also playing out of position at fullback. Gildart has only just returned from a long stint out with injury and didn’t look afraid to do the hard yards and tough carries

Wait till they arrive and then make a judgement. People are too quick to write players off

Thats the problem with utility players that never excel ...no one can work out what position suits them

Maybe we should have learnt with EVERY bloody utility we have signed in the past 10 years ...this bloke supposedly replaces Mbye ...exact same player but slower ...and bigger

Should do a list of utilities since 2011 , its ridiculous

If they're smart they don't use Hastings as a utility at all - he's a halfback or 5/8. Problem is they'll never drop brooks, he's playing okay now but even when he's rubbish they won't drop him

One of them literally was named the best player in Super League. And both of them have been selected in the English national team. And Hastings was additionally named in a Super League all star team that recently defeated the national side. And they have featured in consecutive grand finals. And are still in the running for this year's grand final.

I would not call that "struggling in ESL".

willing to give Gildart a chance considering how long he's been out of the game, but fairly worrying signs if he can't tackle Chris McQueen. we've seen his quality in the four nations a few years ago and he has always had the talent, I just hope his body is as good as it was, if not he's no chance.

List of all Utilities since 2011

Anasta
Austin
Drinkwater
Rankin
Littlejohn
MCK
Lolohea
Godinet
Reynolds
Gamble
Mbye
garner
Douehi
Walters

Talk about a disaster zone ......

Hastings was man of the year a couple of years back...def struggling this season.

For context also, Zak Hardaker won that award...the bloke who could not make it at Penrith and was out of his depth even in reggies.

Rangi Chase also won that award...same bloke who was in our reggies.

Drinkwater...ex wests state cup...is leading contender to win it this season.

Not saying Hastings won't be okay...but in racing terms, the form line is not strong...

I think Hastings is been played out of position due to injuries this year.. I won't right him off yet until he arrives and has a few games under the belt.
He is a very good talker by the looks of it and that is something we lack big time.

You've said it all before...the exact same plays.
They're coming here no matter if you like it or not so at least you can wait and see how they go in our colours.
Totally unlike all the duds you can see every week in our first grade jersey now, including the only 2 blokes who have been a constant in our failures ... Brooks and Nofoaluma.

Thats the problem with utility players that never excel ...no one can work out what possition suits them

Yeah I think he is on track now ...got the balance between run and pass right now ......and taking the line on with some conviction on most occasions ....

What is most interesting is Douehi is back in the 6 , does he think that Brooks is ready or Douehi is ready ...or even Pauga is ready .......

Explains why Mbye is on the bench if you ask me ......

Apparently he has pulled out of his contract with us

His reason was he signed to play with a football team not a cricket team

He was captain. I watched this match, he was very good; lots of talk and steering the team around - which TIgers seem to be endlessly lacking.

I have massive doubts about Gildart, but he can't possibly have demanded big coin so hopefully should be okay for depth.

However, Hastings is the one who has me hopeful. He's very good at reading the defense, and he appears to be the heart and soul of the Wigan team. As long he's not expected to come over and be Andrew Johns, he'll go okay IMO.

Good test this weekend for Gildart, coming up directly against the former Canberra Raider and his former schoolmate then Wigan team mate, George Williams.
